BTG: October 2025 Discussion Thread

And it was ALMOST Joey who was the mark.

 

This reveal is EVERYTHING. How they are using things we saw (with flashbacks) to show that they been setting it up from go. Clucky yep. But seeing most of the timeline has been great to finally have. Though I was hoping for a little more of a backstory between the three (Bill, Hayley, Randy), this is pretty good so far (watching now) is great. The baby talk. The miscarriage. The NURSE we all were talking about who was indeed paid off. The little hints we had of this persona before now. 

 

 

And....so Guza is gone. Moment of truth on some of the storylines.

Omg both of those movies are two of the best I’ve seen this year!

This is easily one of my favorite episodes in the last 7 months purely due to Hayley. And no I wouldn’t recast Marquita. I will hear of no recasts for perfectly fine actors while a robot is still employed. I feel like some of you would recast your entire families after a slight annoyance.

I bet it did. I was happy to see after yesterday, it continued from where it left off versus vanishing again for a few weeks.

Well I like a good icon, too, but I shouldn't see the icon on my TL 24 hours after a movie drops and spoiling a major part of a movie. HOWEVER the former I will STILL watch. As for the latter, James Gunn has been too polarizing for me and he's not helping his case every time he opens his mouth. Meanwhile, I know more about that movie BEFORE it officially was released because people tried to leak things all over the place. A MAJOR turn off for me.

There have been moments that Hayley has shown that she's smarter than she's let on, and since Randy is her cousin... I'm guessing she might have some idea about what is going on with the whole Martin situation... and perhaps other situations with Joey/Vanessa, etc.

So I’m only familiar with James Gunn work because of Peacemaker which I’m a huge fan of. And I ended up watching Superman after a few episodes of season 2. Ended up going back to the beginning of season and so much stuff made more sense for the season after watching Superman first!

I was tipped off awhile back that something seemed off with the timeline of when Hayley entered the orbit of Bill and the Duprees.. and it was during that random scene between Hayley and Derek.

Hayley was doing her song and dance about missing the friendship she had with Derek/Ashley/Naomi/Jacob, being on group chats, etc... and I remember Derek saying 'Well Ashley and I were just getting to know you when everything happened.' before he gave her advice on finding new friends/people to hang out with and that it would make her happier if she did.... and I saw Hayley regroup and later thanked Derek for the advice.   At the time, I wondered if maybe a small part of her felt something for all of her marks... and Derek's small dose of reality knocked her back to the reality that she had a job/con to do.

Also, @Veeearlier mentioned how islanded Derek/Ashley are.. and I have to agree.  It seems as though the show keeps wanting to keep them on an island when there have been opportunities to connect them to others.   To me, the best scenes Ashley (Jen Jacobs) has had were between Ashley and Hayley during their sit down conversation, and Ashley knowing something was off with Hayley not having a sonogram... and the slight cat and mouse between the two dancing when they interacted.   Unpopular opinion, but Ashley should have been more involved in the Hayley stuff, the Doug stuff, and the SPS/Laura situation since she does work at the hospital and interacted with those characters.   Instead she's shackled to Andre/Derek instead of being involved in other stories.

Lastly... I also recall Bill wanting Hayley to quit her job and stay home.. and she refused.  She was wanting to be where the action is (the law firm).. and wanting to keep her side hustle (receptionist/paralegal) while she waited for pay out.  

And now the lawsuit from the three women claiming Hayley was given special treatment and got the job one of the women applied for now makes more sense.   Hayley probably scheduled to get that promotion as part of her plans for Bill.

Bill, Vernon, and Martin in cahoots with a guy like Joey Im sure wouldn't be good for Bill's practice, and Im sure it would be harmful for Martin and Vernon who are considered pillars of their community. I just bet if Hayley gets caught she's gonna threaten to sing like a canary and she probably has proof stashed away as her plan b.

They can also have her go to jail, meet up with Allison, and have them team up lol.

And I would respect that continuity (X-men historian bitd among with a lot of tv shows) if I respected the person doing it.

Well Ashley has been at her best when she's either support in another story or just being involved in the only stories. I liked she was the one clued into Hayley's baby lie myself. But when they throw her in Andre/Derek, she just becomes insufferable. 

 

See all of that makes a lot of sense now. Wasn't it discussed briefly that perhaps Hayley probably did go after that promotion on purpose? Well...lol.

Ugh. Second day in a row with a breakdown by the writer. Scenes are so choppy when they do breakdowns, but Brown, much like Cheryl L. Davis, did his very best to turn it into gold. He is definitely one of their strongest scriptwriters, and I am so glad he (along with Davis) is sticking around for the next 200+ episodes!

I know you've seen my question asking you to explain what you mean, and I also realize you don't have to respond to me. Honestly, though, I don't get your point.
