R.I.P.: GH Star Tristan Rogers has passed away after battle with cancer

Rewatching Robert's final scenes now and they really are lovely. They don't have any of the co-stars who were most important to Robert's legacy, but you can still feel the respect for him in how Sasha is with him, and the moment where he thanks Jason, which on paper I might have rolled my eyes at as Jason propping, feels like another way to remember his greatest legacy - Robin.

I suspect it might have been twofold: They needed a nice sequence for Sasha's exit with one of her loved ones, and they likely knew Tristan might not have long and wanted to get him in once more.

IIRC there was a lot of talk last year that Tristan and Emma Samms would return soon or often for Sasha, etc. after their exit, but that ending for Robert felt final and deliberate to me given his health in case that didn't happen, which I suspected it wouldn't. I am glad he got to have one more series of scenes.

Sad, sad news. Tristan Rogers was a good, genuine actor and by all accounts a good, genuine man.

And while I know it's soon and mean no disrespect to Tristan's memory, another major loss at GH really puts the show and Frank Valentini behind the eight ball.

How many of these memorials can they do in a year? Does it ever get to be "too much"? And how does the show make sure one actor/character isn't short-changed?

GH has had SO many losses in such a short time. I don't envy them.

I don't think they really have any choice. It's been awful for the show these last few years. But yes, it kind of reminds me of people claiming 1995 was too dark and depressing. Try this!

Today, we share in the profound loss of a beloved member of our cast, Mr. Tristan Rogers (aka Commissioner Lex Martin). Tristan was a cast member of The Bay since its inception in Sept 15th 2010 and inspired the creation of the series. His immense talents and spirit touched us all and he will be deeply missed. His legacy lives on through his incredible work.

Blessings to Tristan’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. Let us honor his memory and the joy he brought to all of our lives. ❤️ #TheBayFamily 🕊️

Heartbroken to hear of the passing of Tristan Rogers. On The Bay, I had the privilege of playing opposite him — and what a gift that was. Tristan brought such charm, wit and depth to every scene, and it was an honor to share that screen time with him. Sending love and condolences to his family, friends and so many fans who adored him. He will be deeply missed. 🤍

I gasped, seeing this. At least Tristan is not suffering. I will forever be glad that he got to reprise Robert Scorpio and work with Finola Hughes and Kimberly McCullough again. May he rest in peace.

The cast of GH has had far too many losses lately.

Damn. Really sad to see this news. I grew up with Tristan as the leading man of the show. His Robert could go from light and charming to grumpy and calculating with ease depending on his scene partner and storyline.

Creating Anna’s backstory with Robert and Robin was something soaps rarely do anymore. They took a real chance and I know Tristan helped Finola find her footing, which gave Anna a place to go instead of just a one note character. Holly was so popular and this could have backfired spectacularly. And they were legit a super couple, had a song that the show helped make into a bigger hit record like all the greats!

I will be honest, I didn’t really miss Tristan when he left as much as Finola. He wasn’t having as much fun, it was noticeable, and Robert seemed very 80’s when you look at what Wendy Richie was doing. I know she tried to get him and Finola to come back, but they both had enough at that moment after the rough year of Monty 2. When he came back for the contagion storyline, he was such a breath of fresh air that I instantly wanted him to stay. I had missed him more than I thought.

I will truly miss the way Tristan said Corinthos. Dripped with disdain, the way it should be!

That's from 2014, but it could easily serve as his last. A good scene.
