I enjoyed the past weeks episodes. I've thought this before so I hope they don't prove me wrong but it appears like there is finally real movement in the Hayley/Bill storyline. I also like that they're weaving in new stories like Deanna's growing presence and a potential romance with Kial's son (which signals more Kial/Nicole) and also revisiting Andre's secret. The only storyline I outright don't like is the Shanice/Ted romance. They feel off together and her character has become boring since being paired with him. She had more spark with Derek and was able to be herself. I don't like the insecure Shanice they're presenting for a weasel like Ted. That would've worked better with a June/Ted pairing.
I'm glad they finally moved forward with Ashley Jones new character. I think it was smart to rest her for a bit while they worked through bigger things. I can't wait to see her with Vanessa. The one element they got wrong for me is making her Joey's sister instead of his daughter. If they were siblings, with the age difference would they have even been in the home together? I also feel like the way they play their scenes gives more father/daughter than it does siblings. The actress who plays Lia would've made more sense as his sister.
With Heather showing up last week and Andre's secret being revisited, I'm wondering if she is his secret. One thing that confuses me is how they can keep her around as just the impaler and Joey's sister. Connecting her with Andre would solve that problem and also open them up to being able to move forward with Hayley/Bill/Dani. It's also a better alternative than just putting Ashley back with Andre. I'd gag if she finally decided to move to town and we see her at the hotel (limited sets and all) with a full luggage cart and a little black 5 year old. You could have Andre and Dani walking out as they walk in and watch all the color go out of his face.
Overall I think the show has been on a roll since the cotillion but I need them to keep the momentum going. No more stalling, for example, with Hayley and Bill--go for it! If they do, that could carry them until the fall when I expect something else big to go down. But they can't think that tornado is enough to carry them the entire year. I don't want to be in December still waiting for something to happen.
