(his show is on HBO-Max)

Not for much longer, I'm afraid, lol!

The effect HBO had on my early years - when I grew up with my older brother in an apartment complex that offered the channel for free to all residents - is immeasurable. So, to see where it is now, potentially in the hands of people who wouldn't have DARED airing most of the shows and movies that defined the network in the '80's and '90's and helped to put it on the proverbial map, is both shocking and sad.

Is it true that BET+ is no more?

If true, this makes me wonder what other changes will happen next?👀🤔

With the merger and buyout of Tyler Perry, Paramount announced they're merging BET+ and its content into Paramount+ and the BET Hub.

https://deadline.com/2026/04/paramount-fcc-request-wbd-merger-middle-east-1236873732/

Paramount has noted it will be 49.5%-owned by non-U.S. investors after completing a planned merger with Warner Bros. Discovery.

The stat came to light in a request Monday by Paramount for approval of the foreign ownership stake by the FCC. The company said the arrangement, including a 38.5% holding shared by three Middle East investment funds, will give the combined company “greater access to capital.” The infusion of financial resources will enable Paramount to “compete more effectively in the provision of television broadcast services and in the broader video programming marketplace,” the filing said.

Saudi Arabia’s Private Investment Fund will have the largest share of the three Middle Eastern funds, a greater equity piece than Qatar or Abu Dhabi. Together, the three Persian Gulf states are putting $24 billion into the new company.

All of a sudden, I'm starting to hear whispers of boycotting Paramount. I would have thought this would have happened before the Skydance merger happened. Is this now because of Stephen Colbert's show?

Beyond The Gates is the only show I watch on that network these days and I may be taking a break from that show but I'm not sure how serious folks actually are about boycotting.🤷🏾‍♀️

CBS/Paramount updates regarding "60 Minutes".

Anderson Cooper leaves 60 minutes (remaining with CNN). This is his lovely sign-off. . .

Meanwhile, Bari Weiss (head of CBS News) has just "restructured" 60 minutes.
She fired Sharyn Alfonsi, the correspondent who had the story that CBS killed on the
concentration camp ( "detention center" ).

Weiss also fired more staff from 60 Minutes, including correspondent Cecilia Vega, and EP Tanya Simon. (Tanya Simon is daughter of former correspondent Bob Simon).

I think it's everything .. CBS kissing up to Tr*mp and paying him a bribe for the Skydance merger, and then firing Stephen Colbert, and not airing the 60 Minutes report, etc -- all of it.
A lot of people kept Paramount subscriptions until Colbert's final episode on May 21, 2026. Some are more vocal now that Colbert is done, perhaps unaware of the rest of it?

I subscribed to the original "CBS All Access" years ago, which later changed its name to "ParamountPlus" -- just to watch Star Trek. I still have it for Star Trek and BTG. Some of the more recent Star Trek series are only streaming so that's more vital for me.

The irony is that Star Trek is the ultimate DEI franchise, the literal motto (from Vulcan) is "infinite diversity in infinite combinations". When I'm upset about the news, in the middle of the night, I can log into ParamountPlus and watch an old Star Trek rerun from any of their series (almost all of the past 60 years are online there). Something to restore my faith in sentient life.
