Like even some movement with Gio and Emma! Things have changed, but the adage of if you build it, they will come has always been true in serialized storytelling.

I can barely keep my interest regular atm. The problem is that any time this show has hit major gold in the last 5+ years (Sprina, the Michael/Willow/Drew, etc. saga, Gio/Emma, Alexa Havins as Lulu, etc) they quickly pivot and move towards things that are just disasters. Yes, the show's had some good stuff recently but any time momentum builds it drops and the focus shifts.

I am not here to watch a fall full of what they have touted as 'the resurgence of the Faison/Obrecht clan' with Britt, Obrecht,

Ryan Paevey

and Steve struggling to put romantic hero Jason over as he's pushing 60 with WSB Agent Joss riding shotgun. To say nothing of Sonny's latest sad C-pairing to keep Maurice onscreen, featuring Sidwell's IRL wife who just happened to be on-set.

They have so many tools, so much talent and several strong new couples or elements on this show which can be huge if played to full potential. But they consistently prioritize all the wrong things, or play favorites, or are desperate to justify Jason's presence beyond a more natural role he already was filling (at the Quartermaines) and here we end up in the same morass again. With a writing team that has been tired since before the last time half of it got fired, but they do what Frank says. It's just very frustrating. Which is why my interest continues to fluctuate by the week or month. And nothing is going to change because the numbers are strong enough. BITD, even in the 2000s you would've seen them play Gio/Emma or Dante/Lulu or Willow and Drew eight days a week.

The show really should bring back Georgie. It was such a colossal blunder to kill her off. Maybe recast and tie her into the WSB story as an agent?

It was different seeing Jason on a "date" with a random woman, in a white suit none the less! He's been with a lot of women, but I've never seen him as a womanizer, he typically goes for full-blown relationships. Outside of Sam & and Elizabeth how many partners has he had in the last 20 years? That's why seeing him with Britt felt new.

this was an unexpected alliance between Kristina, Molly and Alexis. Good to see Ric's karma for locking Carly in the panic room.

Where does Elizabeth get off defending Willow? Kristina deserves Elizabeth's wrath and blackmail, but not on behalf of Willow.

Did anyone else clock Watros' "how ya doin'" improv to the random extras after climbing out of the pool last week? I lost it.

Yes! Watros is such a hoot.

As for today, I liked the Ava/Alexis/Kristina/Ric stuff and didn’t think it was too campy. It’s an example of what the show is still much better at than, say, Days: weaving a narrative over a period of months that culminates in this Mexican standoff of blackmail in which everyone has something on somebody else.

I also liked Anna getting loaded at the Brown Dog by herself. It made her seem human. (Although it kind of made me wonder what Emma and Gio were doing on their own back at the condo lol.)

As much as I would love Georgie to be alive, on this show, at this moment, I am going to pass on anyone else back from the dead. For two whole years, I need GH to not tell any paternity or lost relative stories, and no more back from the dead.

What’s working for me-

Cliffhangers! They are happening often and it’s about damn time.

Using NLG in any way that allows her to be funny, while also exasperated. She is always more fun when she isn’t miserable.

NuMichael- damn they did a good job with this recast. He’s hot, can easily play between the haughtiness of the Q family and the more genial person he was before (Chad was boring, but it also worked at one time as a chosen response against the histrionics of his parents). He also has an edge now, and is great with all his scene partners.

WSB shenanigans. I grew up with Robert and his secret computer room, so the resurgence of the WSB does work for me. This is the only time I have remotely tolerated Joss. Yes it’s stupid and would never happen. But it’s also GH logic, which let Anna, Frisco, Sean, etc vacillate between PCPD and WSB, and let Felicia and Holly work on cases. And I do think Vaughn is hot, and serviceable as a soap hunk type performer. Yes sleeping with Joss is gross, he’s too old for her. And I like the umbrella nature of the story tying in Britt, Emma, and Gio.

Drew- this show has needed an outright scumbag for decades. He is the only person currently onscreen that embodies the old old school Quartermaines. This is the spiritual embodiment of David Lewis as Edward, Alan plotting to kill Monica, Monica stealing the Q fortune, and Tracy withholding Edward’s heart medication and running Jenny down. He lacks their charm, but I will take what I can get. Willow unraveling has also been good.

Cynthia Watros- Mulcahey gave her a brain and a point of view, and while Nina is still useless, at least I enjoy her in scenes now. Ric’s return has also been fun, highlighting a lot of what he does well.

Britt and Jason- if they are going to be there, this is the direction to go in.

Biggest gripes- the filming model still causes beats to be missed, and episodes often feel disjointed from one to the next when binging.

So many talented and attractive Black performers and they are all just there. Without Drew what would they be doing with Curtis, Portia, and Trina? Give them something real to do!

Laura is an afterthought and she should have a story. They would never do this crap to Tony Geary. Same with Liz.

Scotty- every time I see Martin I just think why isn’t this Scotty? He has actual history with Laura, the hospital, Lucy, Tracy, and the various players in town. Everything they have done with him in the last few months could have been Scotty easily.

Saint Obrect. She’s a supervillain adjacent character and watching her mope around town about her darling Britta is ridiculous. She can be sad, that’s fine. But people should not be so genial with her. It’s a blatant case of bts favoritism over story.

Sorry for the long post, I’ve been away and this is the only place to share these thoughts about the show.

With Scotty, I think Kin revealed on his social media that he had foot surgery a year ago, and it went really wrong. So I think that's why he hasn't been on for a year, health reasons: foot pain and mobility issues.

I've heard about the ad-lib. I can't wait to see it.

So now Donna is on prop Sonny/ADA duty? Gag me.

So Ric is going to be tied up for 30 days without going to the bathroom or being fed.

Won't Molly want to know where her father is.

So it’s Casino Royale for rip offs with Joss and Vaughn, and 9 to 5 for this story. At least I actually like what they are ripping off!

80% of Port Charles wants Drew dead. The anvils are dropping daily.

I hope any storyline like this has Drew recovering and not dead. It would be crazy to kill off a really good villain who's despised by so many people and who is so chaotic.

I am all for more WSB stories and capers, but doing it with Joss and a series of randos (and Britt) just doesn't work for me. I just feel there's better avenues, starting with Jason being shackled to a lifetime plea deal working for the WSB which should've happened years ago. I can't get with Vaughn either - it is just a network in-joke re: Alias (where Jennifer Garner's secret agent handler was also named Vaughn) that has gone too far lol. I'd bring in more interesting characters, and find some other unlikely young recruits. I wouldn't make Emma WSB but I would def let her and Gio get involved in those capers (or Trina and a new male, a scheming aide to Drew who turns out to be Justus and Faith's kid), same as Dillon, Georgie, Robin, Lulu, etc. did back in the 2000s or Frisco and Felicia in the old days. I might bring back Annie Donely, though I suspect you'd have to recast (Caitlin Reilly is a prominent influencer).

I completely agree about Willow and Drew and how they harken back to classic Q drama, which is why it frustrates me when the show seems to angle away from fully utilizing them and instead drifts back to stuff that just doesn't work for me. (Sonny and the latest blow-up doll DA are the latest) And ITA about the horrible waste of Laura and Liz. Willow's spiral and Drew's villainy need to be maximized. Even though I don't think this was his intent for the story to be nearly so black and white, they really do owe PM so much for this.

I've talked several times recently about why I've never liked Britt/KT and why I doubt her and Jason will last; she has never been strong enough. I would bring back a lot of the Wards to shore up the Black canvas (none of those characters but Trina, Portia and poor Stella cut it for me; Isaiah can stay if he grows his beard back out) and I'd probably try to deliberately tr0ll the Jason fanbases by bringing back yes, Keesha Ward. All the other options for Jason have failed so why not go wild?

Agreed about the surprise Michael success. Now is the time to play him with someone like socialite Serena or Zoe Richardson/Ward and branch out with the new hot lead, and keep Willow in the mix as well. Maybe trying to sucker him back into marriage or tormenting him with Drew, or both.
