Anyhow, now that I've rewatched that episode after 5 months have passed, I see it differently.  Originally it seemed like we might see a police benefit onscreen? But now I'm not so sure.  Maybe it was just a set-up to show that Anita was feeling a subconscious need to sing again.

It definitely was to plant the seed to get Anita to think about singing again. But how she was with him, buttering him up...added subtext.

I'm still hoping we get the fundraiser since Anita said she wanted to get back to her charity work this week. This show has been lacking on events which are great for reveals and story builds/near-misses. Before the concert this past week, the last one was the anniversary party really and that was back in MAY. Before that we were getting events where things were going down every week if not every other week. I miss that.

I just watched the Chief Hawthorne/ Anita scenes. Episode #19 from March 24.  I think it was only that one episode?  He dropped by her house.  They exchanged some initial pleasantries about the Chief's wife Darlene who works as the police dispatcher, and Jacob's brother Luke who is also a cop.  Most of their conversation was about her charity foundation planning an event for the Fallen Officer Fund.

Oh that's right, she said she wants to get back to her charity work.

I wonder if we'll ever see Jacob's mother and brother?

Fingers crossed.

I feel like...just like with Dante...they have been set up slowly. And that down the road we will see them. I'm curious who they do pick when it does happen.

I had hoped once Jacob found out about his father. But since that has happened and no sign, perhaps after the Martin's Secret/Kenny's murder gets public. A disgraced police chief scandal I would think is too much to not have them show up by that point.

Dante Green could become the Aristotle Dumas of BTG!

The Peaches/Leslie reveal was well played and needed to humanize Leslie but all in one episode was too much.

If it was all part of the long term plan (and I have to believe MVJ had at least 2 years of story mapped out) Leslie's background and the existence of Peaches should have been mentioned/referenced earlier.

And really. Leslie's original plan-running Laura off the road and Eva taking her pace, doesn't really make much sense. What was the purpose of having Eva work for Nicole?

The accident with Laura seemed more like a hyped up thing to grab eyeballs at the start rather than a plot necessity.

If anything, some sort of attack on Kat would have made more sense.

More torn about her getting money more than I thought I would. I don't want to lose her edge and street savvy at all, which many other soaps have made that mistake. So I pray they're being wise with her journey.

You and a lot of people from what I see online. I'm actually surprised at the reaction, but at least it's not indifferent.

Same. Keep her edge. Same on the street savvy for Eva.

In a way, it was. Someone else mentioned it online and I don't like the tongue-in-cheek of it to be honest...but...

Eva's cover story for the whole town that SilkPress had Eva practice at the time at the start of the show IS SilkPress's story. But the fact that SilkPress did not know she was adopted just means that the writers were hiding the truth literally in plain sight. But definitely referenced. Haha, writers...I get it.

As for SilkPress's background, she's always mentioned she was from Chicago. From the moment she did, as Cheap mentioned yesterday, people here immediately did theorize that she would somehow be connected to Anita. The fact SilkPress is such a fan of Articulates is just another tongue-in-cheek foreshadow/reference.

And here we are.

My guess is that Dante raped Barbara after she left the Articulettes.  Peaches said that Barbara gave her the baby on condition that Peaches move far away and never connect to Barbara again, never tell anyone where she got the baby, and never tell the child the truth.

All of that makes me question the sweet story Peaches told about how Barbara named Leslie. If Barbara wanted nothing to do with her child, why would she insist on a first and middle name? This makes no sense to me, and just comes off as a way to soften Barbara in our (and Leslie's) minds.

And maybe I'm stupid here, but how does Leslie become wealthy and have the money to move inside the gates because Barbara is dead and Peaches (with the smooth glowing skin) is dying? How does finding out who her father is entitle her to part of anyone's fortune?

I believe that it is because Anita mentioned that at some point she did set up a blind trust fund for Barbara's family after the funeral which going by the inheritance letter this week would now be SilkPress.

And that's just the trust. Not to mention what SilkPress might be entitled to if Anita were to try what she was mentioning this week about remastering the Articulate songs with Barbara's vocals which I believe now she would need SilkPress's permission to do as next of kin.

After Barbara died and sent the suicide note to Anita, as soon as Anita had money, Anita set up a blind trust to pay off Barbara's family with a lot of money anonymously.  Some sort of fund that still exists and probably accrues interest.  It was set up in a way that the family was never supposed to know the money came from Anita.   This was Anita's internal emotional way of rationalizing that she was paying off her own karma for abandoning Barbara and causing Barbara to die of despair.  (I'm not saying that that money actually solved the bad karma.  Just saying that this was what *Anita* used as her motivation).

Anita recently said that she donated her personal share of the Articulettes reuninon concert to the same blind trust, so that it would go to Barbara's family.

Peaches learned somehow that Barbara's family trust has this money. (I don't know how Peaches would know this.).  Now that Peaches is dying, she wants Leslie/Dana to know that  her bio-mother was Barbara -- as Peaches wants Leslie/Dana to have access to the money from Barbara's family trust.  Peaches says it's a lot of money.

So with this inheritance, Leslie/Dana could theoretically buy property "within the gates".

Whoever Leslie/Dana's bio-father might be isn't relevant -- the money comes from her mother, not her father.
If Dante Green is the father, it doesn't matter if he's rich or poor, Leslie would be rich from her mother.
If Vernon is the father (hopefully not!) but if he were, that would just be additional money.

Also, based on the recent twist on Friday in regards to Derek/Ashley/Andre... I think MVJ also seems to love doing the Passions route of no plot movement.

Derek and Ashley broke up.. now she feels guilt so she'll try to nurse him to health while Derek will eventually be able to walk and will pretend he still can't walk in order to keep Ashley close to him... while Andre will go back to Dani with his tail between his legs and continue the abusive situation that he and she have been in.

It seems as though Andre/Ashley are being set up as the star crossed lovers with Derek and Dani conspiring to keep them apart.  That's my theory on the next stages of this plotline will go... with poor Shanice being kept on the sidelines.

They still have good scenes together, but yet. He is not treating her like the diamond she is, revealing how much of a player he actually is to me. I was just as fooled as some of the viewers. That said...I do feel that when he gets a clue about Ashley, he will probably fight harder to win Dani back than Ted is doing with Nicole.

Andre was ready to move past the friends with benefits zone but Dani held herself back.

I honestly thought the Articulates story was wrapped up with the concert. So I thought it odd that Devon didn't show up during the concert like I speculated...thought I loved daytime was advertising he was coming. I also thought it odd to still see Sharon and Tracy (who I love) in the synopsis for Friday because the story appeared to wrap up with no turn. A shame since there's more milage to get out of Anita's past. Dante alone, for example.

So seeing the Devon scenes about setting up the reunion tour and now Friday...it clicked. No wonder they had that beat. The Barbara reveal is not only the turn in the SilkPress storyline, but said turn in the Articulates story as well. A subplot to the main plot waiting in the wings once the first part of Anita vs SilkPress settles down.

I agree with this, but I want to add that Derek's injury immediately keeps Shanice in that orbit due to her PT work. So perhaps Shanice/Derek/Ashley is still on with a side of Andre? Or like I said yesterday, this could be Derek's exit storyline. With Andre/Ashley as the star crossed lovers, he's odd man out. Time for him to fake recovery, turn dark, and wind up out of town...like quite a few people here speculated over at one point.

And he said he understood...until he found out Ashley was on the market. 😜
