Days of our Lives got a nomination for Best Lighting.

Ahem.

If Greg Rikkart can get a lead nomination for playing Leo, then so can Days of Our Lives lighting. 😂

Of course, they were wrong. Susan Seaforth Hayes, no matter how much I love and adore her, is not a lead on the show, regardless of how powerful her scenes were during the death of Doug. She should have submitted in supporting, which is where I thought Nancy Lee Grahn would submit herself in a battle between the two. Had Susan put her name in supporting with Nancy in lead, they both would have likely gotten a nomination, and even might win.

Thank you, Errol, and I used your explanation about the rule being enforced already to explain.

@DRW50I think the reason I think of Kate Mansi as Support because it's like Kristina is a character role, weird, not a typical romantic lead, which may not be valid.

Very excited that Kathryn Grace Lopez (Blaze) is nominated.

TJ and JJ are both too weird.

I gather actors can choose to submit as lead or supporting?

It's according. If they are self-nominating, then, it is definitely their decision to make. But, if it is the show that is nominating them, then, no, it is not necessarily their option, at all.

Laura Wright said her reel is part Bobbie and part Jason/Carly, which she said she did because she wanted to show variety.

K. Grace Lopez (Blaze) took it to fans & said she didn't know what to submit & fans gave her suggestions.

What is the Industries obsession with Michelle Stafford anyways?? Serious question?

Jonathan Jackson too.

These nominees are interesting choices. Industry politics are always at play but it's so blatant here. SSH deserved recognition more than JJ. But it is what it is.

GR seems like a nice person, but I'd never consider him a lead.

Choices, indeed with these nominees.

I agree that the Emmys stopped being relevant once Susan Lucci won hers.

Dang, they're not even gonna broadcast it again?

I'm happy to see Sharon Case and Eileen Davidson in Lead. I hope Sharon Case gets it. Also glad for Paul Telfer.

Really disappointed in CBS, who televised the Emmys the past few years. Seems like a missed opportunity to publicize their soaps, especially BTG. It's unreal that CBS/Paramount are unwilling to spend any money here.

We'll always have that moment, which I think is the greatest in Daytime Emmy history. Nothing beats Shemar Moore opening the envelope and screaming "THE STREAK IS OVER! SUSAN LUCCI!"

I just don't look at it this way. The main thing I think is that the writers & cast & crew of AMC were no longer held hostage to one storyline every year being devoted to being emmy bait for Lucci.

There are a lot of special segments that I adore. Dedicated to P&G. Dedicated to Irna. Judith Light's first win. When Santa Barbara won & Bridget was so fantastic at the mic when she was locked out of the studio. Rena Sofer's first win when she told everyone she was not pregnant. 1999 when AW was canceled & there was no official notice but GH won & immediately from the mic Wendy Riche said, "God bless all our friends out in Brooklyn today for the last time." and then on to her regular winning spiel. Victoria Wyndham's tribute to Doug Watson when he died.

Certain phrases are "household knowledge"

Susan Lucci

Luke & Laura

back from the dead

I still get chills watching her win. It was long overdue.

Now, the competition was stiff over the years. Erika Slezak deserved her wins, but it became obvious that the Academy was using her for ratings. But what a moment this was. *The streak is overrrrrrrrrrrrrr!* I only felt this way again when Beyoncé won for "Cowboy Carter" at the Grammys.

Although, I'd love to see Sharon Case win for lead this year and for Becky Herbst to finally get a win. But she'd have to get a story first....

LOL!!! My least favorite DAYS time was when they seemed to use a blue filter over everything!!!

Where were all these outraged people when DAYS refused to write for SSH for years?

It’s just an increasingly irrelevant piece of metal, folks. I’m glad she seems to be taking it in stride.

I get a kick out of the fact that Olivia D'Abo got a nomination. I know her best as the Moriarty character to Vincent D'Onofrio's Sherlock-like detective, Det. Robert Goren, on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Ironically, her character's name was Nicole Wallace, not to be confused with the political personality of the same name. :)

Also remember her as eldest sister Karen Arnold on the original Wonder Years.
