Probably stolen baby Jude.

Bobbie's death & funeral, going to Florida to get her affairs in order, taking Spencer as her surname. Jason's return. And, yes, she is likely a lead every year. Think about it, this is Carly.

If she wasn't then who was?

They don't belong. NLG had maybe 3 weeks, that's it. I'd lay money down that she self-nominated. Frank will be pushing LW.

JJ should not be on this list.

I figured Jonathan Jackson always gets nominated because of his other successes outside of GH but that might not be the case?

I thought the Bobbie material was very early 2024...I'm not sure what the qualifying period is.

I can't think of any supporting performance Kate has had in the past year. She's a lead.

Bobbie's funeral was Jan. 2024. Dates seem off this year because they changed from June to the fall.

@Errolwhat is your opinion on the DAYS/SSH controversy? Were they wrong to submit her in Lead?

All of you here at SON already know all of this, of course.
I'm not posting anything new in this post, LOL.
I'm just posting as a way to vent out to the universe here:

The actor nominations aren't for performances in storylines.
They are nominations for reels of a few scenes cherrypicked from the entire eligibility year.  (Different years have had different rules as to the amount of scenes and minutes that can be on the actor submission reel.)
A person could have done lackluster acting in 99% of what aired all year.  But they can still submit their few good scenes spliced into a reel.

The nominations for best show and best writing aren't for storylines.
They are usually for two episodes of the entire eligibility year.
So a show might have 248 crappy episodes in the year, but they can still submit the two good episodes.

The entire process seems meaningless to me.

/end rant

Of course, they were wrong. Susan Seaforth Hayes, no matter how much I love and adore her, is not a lead on the show, regardless of how powerful her scenes were during the death of Doug. She should have submitted in supporting, which is where I thought Nancy Lee Grahn would submit herself in a battle between the two. Had Susan put her name in supporting with Nancy in lead, they both would have likely gotten a nomination, and even might win.

Regarding SSH, it's not the first time someone has submitted in the "wrong" category and still been nominated. Another DAYS star, Peggy McCay was nominated for Lead Actress in 2015 for work in 2014, a year in which she appeared a grand total of 26 episodes!

I've seen this debated in past years similarly . . .

If it were based on the actor's entire year's performances then the category should reflect the character's relative importance on the canvas.
[not implying that the Julie character is unimportant/important to the canvas.]

But if were based on the character's importance within a story arc or within the episodes that the actor's submission reel is derived from -- then someone might consider themself a lead in the scenes being submitted?  Is that true or not?

I gather actors can choose to submit as lead or supporting?

I mean Leo Stark is certainly not a lead character on the Days canvas.  But maybe Rikaart considered himself to be a lead in the scenes he submitted?

Right. If the panel is only looking at what is submitted, it's more whether the character/actor was a lead in those scenes/episodes, rather than on the show as a whole. I would imagine most people in daytime have a vague sense about other folks' status on their shows, but there's no real verification process for that.

Peggy McCay's nomination was mentioned above, and James Reynolds won for Lead in 2018. Abe was a 'lead' in the sense that he had heavy material in the story concerning Theo's shooting, but he has rarely ever been a true lead on the show.

I agree that SSH would've had a stronger chance at being nominated in the Supporting category.

As much as I hate to admit it, Leo HAS been a lead on Days for the last few years. He's involved in almost everything (annoyingly) and drives a fair amount of story. The actual content feels very supporting, but you could make a decent argument for him being a lead (again, as much as that speaks to how bad the show is...).
