I took a break from November 1991 to around a year later. I missed Jennifer being raped, Nick Corelli being trashed and Shane with Kayla. I have never felt the need to watch any of that.

After Steve and Kayla didn’t immediately reunite in 2006 and he started something with Billie I took another break until Jack returned in 2019. I missed Dr Daniel completely and am a happier person for it

Funny that you should mention this. 1991 & 1992 are two years I specifically did a rewatch of. Yes, it turned out to be a kind of self-torture. Shane with Kayla, bad enough, Molly & Tanner, oh my, my poor show actually went there. And, Molly's mother secretly of course, was Ginger, oh,  my some more. Thank god for Vern & Desiree. Also Deidre was robbed that year. She had the amazing story of a woman who loved 2 men - Roman, the real one, and John, but he was with a very pregnant IzzyB. Bo was with Carly although Lawrence didn't like it not one bit. The actress who played Gladys on GH 2 years ago was with Lawrence at that time.

I wish I had missed all of Daniel. He literally ate the whole damn show. I haven’t disliked a character as much as I did Daniel until Leo came along.

Not much happened today, but I was liking the build up to Tate, Holly and Ari going to the lake, and I wish that it had played out for a little longer. It almost feels like a classic teen summer story lol I still say that this would've been the perfect time for Sophia to give birth and leave the baby at the firehouse though, rather than when Days made it happen. Her anger, hurt, etc. at Tate and Holly would've been the perfect motivation for her to do what she did. And, I think it would've been a better use of Sophia as well, rather than the way she was used today. Sophia finding out that Javi and Leo had the baby did absolutely nothing for me. Btw, with all this talk about first labors going on for hours, how did Sophia give birth in like 10 minutes 😂😂😂

And yeah, poor Doug III. He really should have been more involved with the teens today rather than Leo, especially since it's his crap that's causing problems for all of them. There are plenty of other ways that he could've found out about Gwen having Julie's necklace. I really wish they hadn't basically dropped Doug III's feelings for Holly and the Tate/Doug III feud.

Spoiler

Luckily, they're supposed to brawl this week lol

I also enjoyed today's round of Xander vs. Sarah. I was a little surprised that Xander brought Sarah's history of mental illness, but I didn't really mind it. Like I said last week, the new writers really seem to be going there when it comes to arguments now instead of just scratching the surface and I'm glad to see it. The messier, the better 😂

I'm glad Maggie was there to comfort her too.

It’s always a good Days when the Outstanding Lead Performer Emmy nominee Greg Rikaart is in an episode. I love my Leo! He always entertains. I’m still not sold on these news writers. Things are not gelling.

I also love how the arguments really hit nowadays. The "thought she was an heiress" story notwithstanding. I don't know how you all got through that hot mess. I do think Xander is overreacting about thinking Sarah would abscond with Victoria to parts unknown, but I'm equally on his side about how crazy it is that Sarah thinks it's okay for her to take Victoria on vacation at this time. This story is well done for that reason. I can find myself agreeing and disagreeing with them both.

I've been waiting for the kidnapping to happen in the Doug story, but I was happily surprised it was both Holly and Arianna that are in danger. I don't know why that option didn't occur to me. It'll be interesting to see how they get saved.

I do hope after all is said and done with the baby story, Sophia will be written out. It will be a shame to lose the actress who plays her mother, but Rachel Boyd is just such a strange presence, even if I did think she did a respectable job in the episode she gave birth. Though she does have brothers if the show cared to keep an Asian family on the canvas.

Well I do feel that Xander and Sarah are slowly realizing that Victoria needs both parents. I'm tired of the squabbling and want to get to the inevitable shared custody with longing looks. At least she admitted she didn't hate him today. And yeah if he wanted to take Victoria to see the sights in Edinburgh Sarah would not allow it either. The biggest moment today for me was him saying he is done letting her control him. And that's what this entire thing has been since she found out about the forgery. She relished using Philip as a tool to keep tabs on Xander at work and subvert him there. She is withholding Victoria until he admits what he did and apologizes to her. But he can't trust her with that information. He apologized to his victim, good enough for me in Salem.

Doug3 is being written into a corner. So he is happy to steal the necklace a second time now? I enjoyed Ari and Javi eye rolling over Gabi.

Holly and Tate continue to bore me. Sophia is emerging as the best part of this story. I really felt for her when she realized the boys have her son and he's OK.

It wasn’t easy 😂

But at the time, we had no idea that the worst was yet to come.

Agreed.

Now that it’s looking like Sarah might start scheming with Philip, both she and Xander seem to be on an even footing, with writing not blatantly biased in favor or against either one of them.

I had to smh at Javi at home babysitting (with the REALLY fake, stiff baby doll) while Leo enjoys a huge lunch and a mimosa at the Pub.

Still, Javi and Leo did manage to get the baby some fresh air by wheeling her around the Square. I guess buying a $400 stroller was worth it.

Say what, now?! Glad I missed that, too. She also had a thing with Roman, didn't she? Which makes the fact that Roman is now hitched to Kate sort of icky, but I know - it's a soap. But still!

Apparently, Billie has a thing for older men.

All that rent money that he’s not paying Rafe goes a long way 😂

So, Holly and Ari now know the truth about Doug III.

And while I like the story, and like that it's not being written like such a big joke, I feel like they missed the mark a little by sidelining Doug III's feelings for Holly and the Tate/Doug III feud. They should have had him try to be a good person, try to be there for Holly and protect her from the loan sharks, etc. while at the same time that he was sleeping with Ari and trying to protect her too. And tying that into Tate and Sophia's mess could have been really good. Honestly, what was the point of possibly hinting at a triangle/quad if Holly and Ari weren't going to be angry with each other once they found out the truth? And, what was the point if Tate/Holly were reunited before the truth came out? They made Doug III such a complex character but then didn't really follow up on it.

And I see Doug III was taking after his Aunt Hope today by posing a Salem Inn waiter lol I'm not sure about him stealing the necklace from Gwen but not getting it back to Julie though.

Speaking of Gwen, I'm not sure about her moving into the Dimera mansion either. Her and Kristen's reunion did absolutely nothing for me.

And yeah... Belle's a dumbass 😂

But I am interested in seeing what happens between her and EJ once everything with Johnny is resolved.

Someone enlighten me, why the hell would Gwen consider herself a DiMera?

She is married to Stefano's grandson Dimitri

I chuckled because it was so in character for Gwen to tease Julie by dropping her bags at the Horton House only to turn around and decide to stay with her in-laws. 👏🏼

Also, not building a new set for Xander's bachelor pad, and raising Victoria in a crib in the boardroom, genius cost saving move. 😉
