Does the city where BTG takes place have a name?  Or is it just a vague suburb of Washington DC?

I don't know if the city has name in the BTG-universe.  Sheila Ducksworth said last week that it's based on a several real-life very wealthy Black communities in Maryland.

Thanks.  But I believe when she used the word community, she was likely referring to the gated community (Fairmont Crest), not the city. I could be wrong, of course.

Several soaps have started off without naming the city in which the action takes place, but eventually (even years later) the city always gets a name.

I was under the impression Fairmont Crest, etc. was just in or outside the District. I grew up in and around DC, but not in a gated community.

They better sweep next year's Emmys even if just for being the "fresh, new, shiny" object. But truly, the show puts the others to shame with the layered storytelling and acting.

Are we taking bets on who the first onscreen death will be?

Kenny? Randy? Doug? Smitty? Elon? A Rando in Leslie's way?

I think the episodes surrounding John’s death on DAYS will probably sweep.

Perhaps a tag-team?

I may have misquoted Ms. Ducksworth -- I know she was referring to cities or towns, but I don't remember exactly how she worded it.

For someone a little behind, when exactly did the mid whites break it off?

Right after Derek read Ashley down after she turned down his proposal. I want to say they had one more episode around each other that took place the next day. Then it was an abrupt one liner the Thursday/Friday before the week break that Ashley told Andre right before she asked him out while fishing to see if Andre was seeing anyone else. Andre, of course, said nothing about what he has going on...and with whom.

Shanice, sliding in the DMs 🤯 Damn girl you thirsty. She was totally shooting her shot at Derek.

Oh snap, Dani was not happy to see Andre with Ashley. It's about to go down tomorrow. Dani is not losing another man to another of her daughter's friends.

tbf she DID warn Ashley a looooong time ago. 😜

I was waiting for your response cuz Andre looked deer in headlights.

I think it has been mentioned in a script or two that Fairmont Crest is in Maryland.  But I could be wrong.  However, if Fairmont Crest is actually inside DC, would Martin be a senator?  Does DC even have a senator?

Fairmont Crest is in Prince George's County, Maryland.  Some of the characters work inside the D.C. city limits - the police department and the hospital are within D.C, per the original descriptions of the show released before it began airing.

Thank you for the information. Very helpful. But still no name of the city Fairmont Crest is within?  Or is it in unincorporated Prince George's County?  If that is the case, I don't think it has been mentioned in a script.   Sooner or later, a future head-writer will give the city a name.

Thanks @janea4old I was about to answer this as it being set in either Prince George’s County or Charles County in Maryland.

Given the lack of Martin ever seeming to be in either Congress or having any congressional staff whatsoever I do wonder if it would have been easier to make Martin the House Delegate from DC instead of being a full blown elected Congressman from Maryland when he very seldom seems to interact with the public and what not.

Now, what in the stranger danger...what 16 year old is inviting a 30-something stranger into their home like that? Also, if Kenny is so dangerous why wouldn't Martin just tell his son about it. I think as a parent, your child's safety supersedes keeping some vague secret you barely even know about. Also, he is old enough to understand and it's not like Martin knows enough details to get Tyrell entangled in any of it.

Ashley has some nerve. Girl is out here on a date with the man she told Derek he had nothing to worry about when it was clear she had these feelings for him, yet she wants to get touchy that Derek is on a date as well. Sorry, not sorry. Shanice actually made Derek tolerable. Meanwhile, Ashley is still 😴 and ewww at Andre blowing smoke up his own ass...there's many surprises or whatever he had to say after Ashley patted him on the back for donating the money from his paintings in honor of his parents who are funding his carefree lifestyle. No wonder he loves Ashley...they are both in the running for Sainthood.

The cringe factor is high with this one. "Sometimes you just got to splurge...budget be damned. Am I right?"

Martin strutting across Orphey Gene's....yaaassssss. This man loves to strut and chase after his Kenny!!! First at the country club and now at Orphey's. A few more of these, and I'm going to need someone to create a gif stringing all of these together...with the caption "Gay Men Lesuirely Walking Anywhere."

I hope Dani really lets Andre have it. He deserves it. How's he going to beg for Dani to be open about their relationship to take Ambien out on a date. Neither one is young enough to believe that if you are telling people about your relationship, especially family, that you are still open.

Agree with most of you about today's episode - it was good!

Love seeing Bill dress down Dani.

Love seeing Shanice out of the hospital. I did like the two dates, but I'm afraid it's just a quick tactic to make them jealous and come back together - I just don't see how they aren't end-game, but maybe I'll be wrong.

Ashley is a terrible first date, wow.

Seeing Kenny at the house with Tyrell was good soap opera, but you're all right - what teenager doesn't think that's wrong? It would have made more sense if it were a much younger child and they were lured by Kenny.

Loving Smitty and his role in this story. The movement over the last two weeks has been great and almost makes me realize this show can survive without Leslie :P

I'm still shook that it was not at all a fakeout.
