Chase I'd dispose of quickly. He's a little boy. Cody I think still can work, but they keep squandering him and doing something stupid every time the character comes together.

Given the recent deaths of almost that entire quadrangle (not counting Stuart Damon), it should be noted how Rick, Lesley, Monica, etc. were incredibly integral to the show's success and that material still is compulsively watchable on YouTube today. The closest we have to it now is what others have mentioned - the Drew/Willow/Michael saga (formerly with Nina too, til the current team moved her to an antagonist role) which is pretty decent despite the show's worst blunders. But that classic triangle and its scandal keeps paying dividends in stories like the Willow/Drew saga, and that a lot of the other material in that Monty/Marland/Falken Smith, etc. era should be a model for a lot more story.

I'd dump Chase too, but I would also have done a lot more with JJ as Lucky so the show and I have different plans lol.  I get the idea of Brook Lynn and Chase being a stable, cornerstone couple of the show, but they are so boring.

I assume Kelly "kill off Britt, I am gone for good" Thiebaud is back for Steve.  I wonder if they will try her with Cody again though.  I am with @Vee and do think Josh Kelly/Cody have promise.  I have been saying that for years though and he's still wandering around canvas not doing much.

I would keep Chase for the time being partly because of the purpose I think he could serve rather than his current role, as he is of no real use as Brook Lynn's hand-holder. They missed so many beats by having her tell Chase everything.

I think he could serve as something of a Joe Kelly (I am not comparing the actors) as the "nice guy" for various neurotic female characters to be with while they are looking elsewhere, and also as a foil for Michael once the Willow/Drew story is finally over.

A Willow/Chase/Sasha/Michael quad could go on for a while. Maybe Chase cheats with Willow and that helps break up his marriage to Brook Lyn (who by that point would probably be falling for Dante anyway, leading her to scheme when Dante starts reconciling with Lulu). Michael having the ideal family life with Sasha and their daughter but deeply resenting the perfect man being with Willow and being another father to their kids, which would just trigger more of his self-loathing. His feelings for Willow would be unresolved, and you'd wonder if Willow is using Chase to get a reaction out of him. You could play the old Sasha/Chase relationship beats too. It would be a messy quad - maybe a little dull at times, but it could be the type of interlocked relationship story GH doesn't have enough of now.

I do like Cody, even though I had no use for Kelly on OLTL. It didn't help that I was very bitter about the show by that point. If they could come up with some plan - any plan - for him, that would help. Hell, maybe they could actually pair him with Ava. I see that her fans are upset at the idea, some of them anyway, but it's a chance for something different with the character - seeing Maxie, Felicia and Mac interacting with her would give Maura a chance at comedy, which she's always been underrated at. And he would be there to help with her schemes (and probably make them worse as he's not the brightest guy). Then, if Molly is falling for Cody and feels betrayed (again) by Kristina I could see her siding with Ric in his money schemes rather than going along with Kristina and Alexis, which would lead to more isolation for Alexis and might spin her off into a darker and more interesting place.

So is Sonny going to flat out murder Natalia? That little look on his face when she was saying "You are such a godsend" suggests that, at very least, he'll find a way to shut her up so she can't incriminate him.

I can't say that I'd miss her, but that would be an interesting dark turn. I know he's killed before, but it's usually been his mob rivals or crooked cops like Jagger, not a mostly-harmless accountant whose daughter used to date his daughter.

Your ideas for Chase are good.  I just wonder if Josh Swickard is talented enough to pull it off.  He's handsome and mildly charming, but he's been on the show for years and hasn't made an impact.   He'd have a great career in Hallmark movies, but I don't think he's made for a long term soap hero.

Also, unrelated, but how is Jason allowed to wear a black t-shirt in court?  Lol.  Even PC courts probably have a dress code.

Sonny killing Natalia would honestly be the best thing he's done in years lol.  I kid.  I actually don't think the show would have Sonny kill a (mostly) innocent woman.

I cheered when dumbass Willow lost custody.

I was definitely getting vibes Sonny is going to either kill or have Natalia killed.

How's Natalia even allowed to drive?  Don't they immediately take your license away?  I'd be doing a lot more walking if I was on my second DUI.

You're right about Swickard. I think he could handle that material as most wouldn't really be about him but I can see where one might wonder why bother.

I swear Jason used to wear suits in court. Maybe the judge loves his coffee.

Swickard probably could have done more.  I just don't know when you call a character a loss.  Chase isn't outright annoying or bothersome. He really doesn't have much of a purpose besides defending Brook Lynn all day.

Jason absolutely wore suits in court before.  Every previous murder trial lol.  I guess wardrobe couldn't throw Steve a blazer to put on today.

I cheered too, even though I thought Katelyn MacMullen did a great job with her breakdown scene. I do have to give the GH writers some credit for writing the Willow/Drew dynamic in a way that's so believably repellent that probably about 95% of viewers were happy to see the judge give Willow the smackdown and to see her lose custody of her kids. I mean, having a mother crying in court about losing her children is very soapy, but having the main emotion of the scene be schadenfreude is something new.

And yeah, I thought Sonny had his "you're a dead woman" face on today.

Well not for nothing I predict they blow up ChaLynn & of course the end of Drillow ... so,  step 2, Willow with Chase,  NotBritt with Drew, BLQ bitter & alone where no one cares what she wears, DarkMichael is looking good with Sasha, I predict they both change their last names, then if they get together they go hyphenated: Quartermain-Scorpio? Does it work? If not what if Michael, in Bobbie's name & memory, took Spencer? He just cannot stay Corinthos, it's not him. If absolutely necessary he could take Sasha's new name, they'd be Michael & Sasha Scorpio. Now, does that work?

If they do want to keep Swickard, then I think he could probably pull off a storyline where Chase gets shot in the line of duty and goes blind (or is otherwise seriously disabled). I could see that shaking up the Chase/Brook Lynn relationship in an interesting way, since he's usually supporting her and not vice versa. Would their relationship survive him having to lean on her for help? Or would he just push her away and get closer to someone like Nurse Willow?

To be fair, that's sorta Mo's regular face as Sonny no matter what is happening lol.

Interesting.  I do think there are ways to give Chase more story, but I am still on the why bother at this point now?

Not sure if this is the right place for this article. People magazine carried Vanessa Marcil's rip-roaring defense of her son against homophobic trolls.

How can you not love her?

Any Vanessa Marcil article belongs here.  I am probably the only one that thinks that though.
