Someone mentioned a while back that Katelyn MacMullen should be chosen as a recast for Ashley and I think that's a great idea. I'm still hoping that BTG poaches her from General Hospital and have her play Ashley. Also the writing for Ashley could use some improvement because right now Ashley is coming across as extremely emotionally unstable and neurotic. I can't help but wonder if that's supposed to be intentional.

I think the story with Jacob's partner the shady cop is coming.  Remember a while back, we saw Jacob's father the police chief Elon Hawthorne, trying to defend the situation to Jacob.  And separately, we saw Chief Elon ask Anita to help with the police event. *Speculation only* that the Articulettes (or Anita solo) will sing at the police event.  I think bits and pieces of the cop/mobster storyline are being shown very intermittently, and it will build into a C story, then B, and then more, as the event gets closer.
But for now the focus is on reuniting the Articulettes.

I wouldn't be too worried. I've noticed that this show is VERY good at bringing back up a story/plot thread right as someone mentions it on this board. Most soaps might drop or forget one, but this show always loops back around and tries its best to not insult the audience's intelligence.

 

Heck, we still have Anita's police fundraiser to look forward to, and it has not been mentioned in...mmmm...a month?

LOL @Taoboi and I posted the same thing at the same time.

And during the convo between Anita and police chief Elon, we learned that Elon's wife (Jacob's mother) is the police dispatcher and Jacob's brother is another cop. So maybe the reveal will happen after the entire family is shown onscreen?

IKR. I hollered just now. I totally agree. Even now the Doug/Joey/Vanessa storyline is moving from C to B and doesn't even touch on the crooked cop part of Joey's storyline. It's similar to what they did with Martin's secret...just idling on the backburner all of Month 2 until this month regaining a build to it. I feel the same about the crooked cop storyline. 

 

And I can't wait for the police fundraiser. Hoping to see more of Jacob's family then as well.

I've been rewatching old episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine on ParamountPlus.  There are times when Captain Sisko visits his father in New Orleans.  Sisko's father runs a restaurant with specific local New Orleans cuisine, and we actually see and hear him recommending specific dishes to the restaurant customers.  I can almost smell the aromas.

I'd like to see occasional mention of the menu at Orphey Gene's Soul Food Cafe.  Someone orders something, or mentions how much they enjoy something.  They named Orphey Gene's after MVJ's mother.  I want to feel it as a soul food restaurant and not as a generic diner set for conversations.  I mean, obviously it will still be used as set for conversations, but give it more specific atmosphere.

      I'm not sure when exactly they started but I remember Chris Schemering claiming they wrote the Rick/Monica/Jeff stuff as he said this type of melodrama later found them success on Dynasty but did not work on GH. He mentioned dialogue between Rick and Monica like, "You're my heaven and my hell," and, "I have a fever in my blood." (presumably the next line was not about needing "more cowbell.")

      Would not necessarily call myself a shipper, as I think shipping is quite an unhealthy state of mind to exist in, but would I like to see them paired? Yes, I would.

      I can't stand Andre with Ashley.  Sean Freeman acts the scenes well but I just don't like how Andre is being written in his scenes with Ashley. The last few episodes have been same Fairmont day, everyone in same wardrobe.       I have to agree. Yesterday wasn't too bad either. I'm glad there was some movement in the B and C plots, and I'm very intrigued by Bill's story.  Nice scenes.  I have to rewatch them, though.  @Liberty City A Andre and Ashley shipper?

          Oh wait, I got that wrong, I think? Correcting what I said: Chelsea and Bill both assumed that Dani was fake-kissing Pamela.  But meanwhile Pamela asked for the reason for the kiss and Dani explained that she was trying to give Pamela something to focus on other than Diego.  So now I think that Dani just wanted to help Pamela, but Bill and Chelsea misconstrued (as did I).  But then Dani reverted to form and taunted Bill about it. Chelsea would be right if Dani was just kissing Pamela as a ruse to make Bill jealous.  But maybe it was really about Pamela and not about Bill.

      I ended up being VERY moved by the scenes between Dani and Chelsea today. I think that it's so awesome that not one...but two...of the Dupree grandchildren identify as queer. Since KM came out as queer a bit back, you can't help but wonder how her own personal experience shaped that performance. BRAVO!

Uh-oh, is Chelsea's female boo not wanting to explore things with Chelsea? That's sad. Not Bill and the child bride still walking about the honeymoon they're going to resume? Please no. Dashley? No. No. Naomi, do not be team Dashley. Please. And Derek, everything about you (pre-smelly socks) annoys me. DANI PLANTING THE KISS ON PAMELA! YES!!! I'm really going to need Ashley to get over Derek; he is not the prize that you believe him to be. Let him go be the disgusting, unkempt, dirty pig he's shown himself to be. Of course Bill thinks it's about him, and then Chelsea feels insulted due to the fact she just got denied by the [married] woman she was into. Not Hayley thinking this is about Dani for Chelsea; it's about something deeper. While I get where Chelsea is coming from and fully agree with her, this is the one time she's not knowing the truth of the situation, and I wish she'd listen to Dani. Let your momma support you in your coming out to her!! Look at her telling her truth... so beautiful! I'm still intrigued by what is causing Bill's hand tremors. Notes: Sean Freeman (Andre) and Jen Jacob (Ashley) have some real chemistry between them, and I hope they continue to build on it, script-wise. I CALLED IT! I CALLED IT! I knew there was some underlying chemistry with Dani and Pamela! I knew it; Cady McClain and Karla Mosley just played it up to that point! Other day and no Procter & Gamble products in commercials. Danielle Paige rocked the script today. That might be one of the best "coming out" scenes I've witnessed on an American daytime soap.

      Best episode of the week so far. The pacing on some of the side storylines is picking up too, which I like.  And I'm always a sucker for a musical montage. I actually felt something for Derek and Ashley during it, both looking at pictures of each other on their phones and saying g'night. Music always helps bring out emotional moments.
