Reminder for Tues. May 6 and Wed. May 7:
Due to UEFA European Soccer Champions League Semifinals
Y&R and B&B may be partially disrupted in some timezones,
but it's not an official preemption.

(Same procedure as Tues. April 29 and Wed. April 30.)

This soccer coverage will be broadcast live in the European evenings,
which is 3-5pm Eastern USA, plus a 2-3pm Eastern prematch show.
Total timeframe: three hours 2-5pm EDT on those four dates.
On CBS only.

BeyondTheGates:
This fully officially preempts BTG in all timezones in USA and Canada.
Tues. April 29, Wed. April 30, Tues. May 6, and Wed. May 7.

https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/68729-article-‘beyond-the-gates’-to-be-fully-preempted-due-to-cbs-coverage-of-uefa-champions-league-soccer-games/

Y&R and B&B:
On the affected dates, this will partially preempt Y&R and/or B&B
on CBS only in Mountain/Pacific/Alaska timezones.
Because Y&R and B&B air fully in Eastern/Central time, it's not an official preemption,
and those shows will be considered to have aired
--
so you'd need to watch on another time/channel or online, or you'd miss it.

List of alternate times/channels for Y&R and B&B here:
https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/68719-btg-yr-bb-april-may-2025-soccer-disrupting-cbs-soap-broadcasts/

Y&R and B&B will air normally in Canada and Australia in all timezones.

Today showed why almost no one comments on this crap soap.

-- We're back to pretending that there aren't SCORES of cosmetics companies out there --  only Jabot and whoever else opens up shop in Genoa City to be the competition. No real business runs this way.

-- Marchetti is supposed to be an internationally-renowned fashion house, yet both Chelsea and Sally are ready to walk after being high-level executives there.

-- It's not often women leave choice executive positions in their field of expertise to work in a business they're clueless about.

-- Sally had a lot of nerve shading Chelsea with "It's easy to see Adam's influence on you" when the same damn thing is happening with Billy.

-- I'm glad Lauren told Michael to quit, since we've all been mouthing that for weeks. None of that story is helped by CLB's over-the-top acting.

-- The scene with Victoria helping a sick, coughing Cole walk to their car on the way to the hospital was laughable. Wouldn't rich people call a damn ambulance?

-- Claire was really concerned, wasn't she? She stayed in the doorway instead of helping her mother, and then headed right to Crimson Lights for coffee. Why bother with checking on her possible terminal father at the hospital?

I never understood the point of Marchetti. Summer left the show for a job there in Italy. OK.

When she returned they had Jack buy the company. Why couldn't Summer have returned and simply stated it was not a good fit, she missed her home , family/friends etc

It was absurd that this internationally successful fashion empire could just be bought by a US cosmetics firm at the drop of a hat.

What was the point when they never did anything with it at all? Summer simply could have gone to work at Jabot.

And wasn't there some nonsense about an offshhoot called Marchetti Home? Was Phyllis attached to that at some point?

This show...

Yes, Billy was all nostalgic about the Abbott home and didn't like the changes, yet he had no second thoughts or respect when completely renovating Chancellor.

He could have actually mentioned that misguided step as evidence to Diane that these type of changes can backfire.

-- The fact that we know the mess that Billy made when he renovated the Chancellor place makes his entire sadsack attitude pathetic. I wanted someone to smack the hell out of him.

-- And why did Diane care so much about Billy's opinion beyond hearing he liked it better before? Why continue pressing him on it? Josh Griffith clearly thinks this is a storyline, and it isn't. It never was.

-- So Mariah cheated on Tessa offscreen. OF COURSE it was offscreen. Then we got this ridiculous, convoluted explanation of why she cheated, ending in her announcement that she doesn't have any character at all. GMAFB.

-- Now we'll get the cliche garbage of Mariah confessing to Tessa, who turns to Daniel for sex even though she's a lesbian. (Please spare me the comment that Tessa is bi.)

-- The excuse for Summer leaving town? Also pathetic. Why in the hell would she have to leave town to find a new creative director for Marchetti?

Tessa clarified a few years ago that she is gay and not bi.   I find it offensive that the show is teasing her with Daniel.

Mariah told Sharon she went emotionally/mentally to a dark place, and while she was out of town on business she got drunk and did something bad.  But Mariah didn't say she cheated.  The show wants us to assume that, but she didn't say that.  She could have taken drugs or who knows what.  All we know is that she feels shame and doesn't want Tessa to know.  Mariah says the inner darkness is due to the longterm influence of Ian in the past, and she hasn't healed from that.

With a *good* writer, we could have organic conflict in the Teriah marriage, without cheating.  But JG isn't a good writer.

Which could make sense , except that we have seen Mariah function for years w/o any real residue pain from her upbringing. Josh decides to randomly make it a thing, when a good writer might foreshadow that for months.

It's not like he's just arrived at the show. He's been there for years . Everything seems to be thought out only a few weeks ahead.

It's like Phyllis all freaky from being kidnapped when she has done a million other things that didn't seem to bother her at all.

After today’s rushed and abrupt exit for Summer I immediately realized that Josh & Co. were very blindsided by AL’s decision to leave.

Not the first time this has happened to JG either; see MM & HK’s exits in 2021, MM’s exit in 2022, and of course TSJ’s exit last year. Obviously JG and our executive in charge of nothing Steve Kent don’t have a good handle on casting disruptions.

And Mariah having an offscreen affair is [!@#$%^&*] ridiculous!! Meanwhile Tessa’s blonde hair is overkill with the number of blondes on the show already.

I said the same thing 3 years ago…of course it was utterly ridiculous everyone was mad at Sally for getting Summer he dream job (don’t ask lol) but there was so much the show could have done without bringing on the Marchetti angle.

    • The Dallas finale was the highest-rated episode since October 9, 1987 (Gone with the Wind). • 40 years ago this month, the best and most pivotal television season of the 1980s came to an end. Here’s how the rookie breakout and the four soaps wrapped up the season. The Cosby Show – Cliff’s Birthday (season 1 finale, May 9): Clair and the children surprise Cliff by planning a birthday celebration around a Lena Horne concert. Dallas – Deliverance (May 10): Bobby seeks evidence to free Jenna. The Ewings go confidently to court. Mitch asks Lucy to move in. J.R. wants Sue Ellen hospitalized. Dynasty - The Heiress (May 8): Krystle learns Daniel is dead. King Galen courts Alexis. Amanda sees Michael with Elena. Sammy Jo learns Krystle will handle her money and is furious about the decision. Knots Landing – One Day in a Row (May 9): Ben aids in Karen's search for Val's babies. Mack replies to the governor's offer. Ruth uses Abby to break up Laura and Greg. Falcon Crest – Cold Comfort (May 10): Fugitive Lance desperately searches for Lorraine, who lies comatose in a San Francisco hospital. Robin returns with startling news.   Dallas – Swan Song (season 8 finale, May 17): Jenna's release from jail depresses Pam. Sue Ellen thinks she saw Dusty. Donna tells Ray about her pregnancy. Cliff consults an attorney about an annulment. Lucy and Mitch remarry. Sudden tragedy strikes Bobby. Dynasty – Royal Wedding (season 5 finale, May 15): Sammy Jo makes her roommate look like Krystle. Elena reassures Amanda about her upcoming marriage. Terrorists come for the royal wedding of Prince Michael and Amanda. Falcon Crest – Confessions (May 17): Melissa confesses to framing Lance. Pamela gives Maggie proof that Richard bribed Judge Holder. Connie reveals her love for Chase. Knots Landing – Vulnerable (May 16): Ruth wants Abby to break up Greg and Laura. Karen makes a breakthrough in her hunt for Val's babies. Joshua hampers Val's recovery. Knots Landing – The Long and Winding Road (season 6 finale, May 23): Abby fears being linked to the disappearance of Val's babies. Laura leaves Greg. The Fishers are determined to keep Val's babies. Falcon Crest – The Avenging Angel (season 4 finale, May 24): Lorraine dies. Angela throws a victory party. Cassandra's mother arrives. An explosion rips through Richard's house. 1984/85 was the season the primetime soaps pulled out all the stops to out-do each other and everything culminated in the spring. May 1985 was the zenith of primetime soaps as a genre.

    • Charles Grant first appeared as Evan in September 1988. I was surprised to come across this item from December 1985, almost 3 years earlier: "Lots of action behind the scenes at Another World . . . I have bad news for fans of Christopher Holder (Peter Love). He will be leaving the show in the new year. I have heard that the producers are recasting the part and are also seeing actors for new roles. One of the main characters this spring will be Marlee [sic] and Victoria's father. The producers have been talking to Charles Flohe (John "Preacher" Emerson, Edge Of Night) about another new character to be featured. I will fill you in on the results as soon as I know." It seems obviously too early for anyone to have been planning to introduce Evan Frame. Based on the context he's not being considered as a recast of Peter. Maybe they were considering him for the character that turned out to be Neal, who started around the same time as Marcus Smythe as Peter?
    • Randall Edwards (and Brian Tarantina), with the opening night cast of 1985's Biloxi Blues, plus director Gene Saks and playwright Neil Simon.

    • That was my point really. These anniversary party scenes are the first ones, and now they won't be able to use them (meaning these actual scenes, as aired, with OG Ted). They can recreate them but I doubt they will spring for all the extras to come back and film and recreate everything, so it will be more like tight closed in shots of Ted with one or two other actors, or snippets of Leslie's original speech where Ted wasn't visible. It would be hard to recapture the original energy of the scenes are as they were filmed in their full context. I just think that's too bad, but maybe they will prove me wrong. I never really saw what was so off in his portrayal to warrant a recast, anyway, so that colors my perception as well.
    • Yeah, and quite honestly, are there really that many scenes that are flashback-worthy at this point in the run?
    • I know at one point they were on Hulu & i-Tunes. I just checked it on JustWatch.com & it indicates 1 season on Prime Video & on AppleTV. Have fun! Just looking back at this thread, the recent end of & I have to admit I am surprised that several of you give it such high marks. Now, literally all I know about the modern reboot I learned from Slezak in Linda Dano's podcast & I must tell you I got a very different impression from what she said. If you are interested, those podcast episodes are still up even though Dano is not making any new ones. My impression from what she said was that they had no idea what they were doing & it was no wonder that the project was an abject failure She & many others were owed a ton of money. At the end the mid-level staff came out & basically said, they didn't know what to do, that the people were not here & they guessed it was over. So, as you can imagine I was appalled.
