So today it was stated Sophia's 18th birthday is on prom.  I would assume that's in a few weeks.  I am not sure how far along she is, but if she's 18 when the baby is born why does she need Amy's permission for this adoption at all?

Probably.  It was an unnecessary thing to add lol.  Johnny, Chanel, Tate, and Sophia could have simply waited it out.  I suppose that would mean Sophia would have no parental support or means for college so that's understandable.  Although I am sure Brady, Tate, Paulina, Johnny, Chanel all would have been willing to help her.

It's not that important and it doesn't take me out of the story.  It just made me think all this hand wringing over the adoption was easily solvable.

I think, but I'm not sure, the threat is that Amy wouldn't support Sophia and the baby, after the pregnancy, if they don't follow her rules.

I also think they have to keep the threat subtle in order to avoid offensive dialogue.

I think you are correct.  If NuSophia was a stronger actress and Amy was less of caricature it might have been interesting to see what happened if Sophia defied her.  Watching Sophia make the adoption choice then seeing her struggle with college, finding a place to live, and working as a very young adult.  Sophia has a job so she must have some money of her own.

Speaking of which….

Stefan's in Allamania and Ava's in Singapore, what's going to happen to The Bistro?

Is Doug3 just going to run it as a squatter? nu-Doug's Place?

I actually was wondering that too.  I don't think Ava was anything more than the manager when she left.  I guess Vivian could just hire someone?   I wouldn't even be that mad if 18 year old Sophia took it over.  She's been their most consistent employee lol.

It honestly wouldn't bother me if someone like Julie took it over either.

Honestly, at this point, recycle the set (which kind of sucks, given it's one of their community sets). It does not work for me. We could bring in a better use for the set space, surely? Or why not return the restaurant Maggie owned for a period of time...? Give her something to do other than linger in the shoebox Kiriakis room.

Maggie was a thought for me too.  That would be fine.  I could still see Doug3 or Cat suddenly being passionate about cooking and trying to start a restaurant.

It's also seems that Javi is a good cook and it would be cool to have a Latin or Mexican restaurant in Salem.  I guess that doesn't leave an option for a fine dining one though with set space lol.  If Javi showed some interest in anything other than Leo that would go a long way for me.

Brandon Beemer was great today talking about his guilt regarding Bo and reminiscing about being raised by him on the boat. Jada as his support through this only amplifies their chemistry. It felt like an actual measured conversation with the both of them getting to share a point of view.  There was a moment it looked like they could have kissed, but I'm glad the show is making us wait. I loved hearing Jada talk about Marcus more and that little scene with Steve really helps cement her as someone we should care about.

The miracle cure deserves an eye roll, but Bo having a real diagnosis is a better than the usual.

Johnny confiding in Marlena felt so refreshing. I don't even remember them sharing a scene since I started watching. I did laugh when Marlena basically told Roman to leave them alone. She gets it. I almost thought instead of Johnny telling Chanel how he feels, that he was going to nuke the adoption behind her back/on purpose, only for it to blow up in his face after. Still, them holding off on him telling her the truth definitely made me excited for tomorrow. My heart breaks for Chanel already.

It took me a little to understand why Chanel would give two sh*ts about Felicity. She works at Sweet Bits right or is it something else?

Rachel Boyd was truly horrific today. When Leo hugged her, it almost look like she orgasmed and malfunctioned at the same time. Madelyn Kientz why did you leave us?!? It was a nice surprise to see the high school setting again. It does a lot to make the teens actually feel like their age. Almost felt like I was back in 2002 again!

As for someone taking over the Bistro. If it was Maggie, she needs to bring back Tuscany, not Chez Rouge. But I am in agreement with @carolineg that Javi could get into cooking. My thought was that he would work at Sweet Bits and form a friendship with Chanel. Both need friends urgently.

She works at Sweet Bits, and I keep predicting that she's going to join Johnny and Chanel's family, once the Greene's all finally leave Salem.

I totally agree, and their chemistry feels organic.  It is as if someone noticed them together in a scene.  I'm certain if we ever figured out Jada and Shawn-D's ages in our timeline, there might be an issue.  But, I always appreciate a triangle with equal routing value.

I don't want Maggie to work, she's better at shopping, and Julie feels too frail to walk people to their tables.  Let's keep Amy, have her buy it, and rename it “Chili & Mango Tango” serving a fusion menu of Thai and Latin cuisines.   With Javi tending bar, and Doug3 at the host stand.

I tried to give Rachel Boyd a chance.  I really liked Sophia/Madelyn.  NuSophia is horrible.  Perhaps she'll grow into the role, but any fire or spark Sophia had is gone.  This version of Sophia seems so meek and timid.  Her and Leo Howard have no chemistry either.

I think if Javi is intended to be long term the show needs to give him interests, friends, and integrate him into the canvas.  Javi certainly appears to hate being Gabi's assistant and he seems to like cooking so that would be an option for him.

I don't know why Chanel has no friends lol.  It would be very easy for her to be friends with Gabi or Cat.  They all lived in the Dimera mansion together I believe.

    • I also like how they've set up all the pieces where they could do yet another "shocking Gio parentage reveal" in another year or so if they want to. Because it's not at all implausible that teenage BLQ would have sexually experimented with both Dante and Cody. So if they want another violin-smashing moment next year, just have Gio find out that Cody is his real bio-dad.
    • I agree, also am able to see various points of view. Lulu, Lois & I think the two of them are going to rival one another for the heat they are going to take.
    • When you think about it, someone who stayed on for as long as Devon must have some fans out there. She also had an alcohol issue. I saw a host of episodes with her and Cliff on YouTube. I wanna say that’s who Cliff was entertaining while Nina had the affair with Steve.  Do you believe she lasted so long because Brooke left and they kept recasting Nina?

    • Thanks again @Paul Raven  It shows you just what a unique and memorable performer Denise Alexander was that I can see her in these moments and hear her even though I've never watched any of the material. On paper it probably wasn't up to much, but I do wish I could see her playing it. Meanwhile, the Diana material continues to seem like one plate of ass after another...I was thinking she had finally been able to move on with the therapy breakthrough, but then we're right back with her believing Peter and Leslie are having an affair. I don't know how much further off the material is that made Valerie Starrett leave, but I can't blame her.  I see less and less of Jessie anywhere in this - is this when Emily's health troubles were starting to phase her out of story? Going a few summaries back, writing out Lee, Caroline, her son and his wife seems so rushed. It's a shame Marland, or whoever, killed off all of them (aside from Lee), as they might have given Lee some story down the line. Or maybe the daughter-in-law survived too - I can't remember.
    • Thanks!  I compiled the list and posted it for the 59th anniversary in November, but just made the updates now for the couple of new cast members we've had since then! Didn't realize until I did the update that Peyton is the first-ever contract actor born in Nevada, so that's another state off the 0 list!
    • What I love about this story is that I can empathize with both Lulu's point of view AND Lois's point of view. I can understand why Lulu thinks it's important for the truth to come out and why she feels a moral obligation to let Dante know he has a son. But these good intentions have gotten all mixed up with her hatred for BLQ, and so she's going about it like a self-righteous bully who hasn't thought through all the consequences of this reveal. And I can understand Lois's thought process keeping this secret. She couldn't bear to give her grandson away to strangers, and so she arranged an adoption that kept him in the family. From her perspective, it's worked out beautifully because as Gio grew up as a "Palmieri cousin", he got to know his father Dante, his mother Brook Lynn, and his grandfather Sonny. She just had the hubris to believe that she could play God and keep the secret forever.  Maybe it's just getting to see Cynthia Watros and Laura Wright in full-on catfight mode a few days ago, but the show is starting to remind me of Guiding Light in its heyday, where most of the drama comes from the interactions of long-running characters who are likeable in some ways but have enough fatal flaws that they create their own problems. That's a sharp contrast for the way GH has generally been written since the JFP era, where most of the drama comes from external threats: supervillians, Sweeps month disasters, the mob shootout of the week.
    • Wow, @JAS0N47, that list of states was impressive! And I never knew that James Read hailed from near me! (I was born and raised in a nearby city, about 15 minutes away!) (Liked him since he played Murphy Michaels on Remington Steele when I was a kid. As an older kid, I also loved him on North and South!)
    • Oh, I remember this vividly! So trippy to see Mike Brady as a devil-worshiping judge. LOL! (With the mustache and curly hair in some pics, Reed seemed to have a surface resemblance to early-Jeopardy Alex Trebek!)
    • This makes Karen, now this & a guy on Facebook named Brent Costel. Sony is really deleting so many files.
