Let them have their fun and shock...since most are not the normal soap audience and probably aren't used to a recast.

As for the rest of us...I know we are going to meet that sexy tall man in a turtleneck.

At least they've popped the cherry and can now recast Martin and recast/dump Derek or Ashley. But I could understand staggering cast changes, i.e. the mention of Santa Barbara. You don't want to end up in a Ryan's Hope situation either, where it didn't happen as fast but they kept changing actors.

It's also been so long since most new soap debuts that we forget about the early changes at certain shows. I'd been thinking about this history for some time while wondering who BTG would cut first. AMC dumped the first Ann Tyler very quickly (maybe before air?) as well as several Lincs, and OLTL's first Viki never went to air at all despite promos along with swapping out Larry and Meredith in a matter of months. I'm sure many other shows have other examples.

I mostly thought of Irna because of P&G, admittedly.

I was trying to think of when Sunset Beach fired Ashley Hamilton and Adrienne Frantz. There may have been something at Passions (I don't believe there was at PC in the first month) but it was the only other one in recent decades that sprung to mind.

I remember the stories about Hamilton being a partying nightmare. I'd forgotten all about Frantz.

I don't remember any early recasts at PSSNS, even though virtually half the cast should've been gone.

@detroitpiston That's interesting that you spotted Keith D. Robinson behind-the-scenes during premiere week, thanks for the pic.

In one of the interviews before BTG debuted, it was said that there's a three-month tape-to-airdate gap.

I wonder if Ted was already recast before the character debuted?  In which case it's interesting that Maurice Johnson has been tweeting support of the show and his character Ted daily.

(wondering? )  perhaps Keith D. Robinson was on the set for some minor dayplayer role, which is why he was visible in that pic, and then more recently he was moved into being a Ted recast?  I have no idea what actually happened.  Just trying to come up with possible theories.

Deadline says Keith D. Robinson's "first episodes are scheduled to begin airing in May".
