He did interviews, engaged with fans and talked positively about the show despite knowing he wouldn't have long to enjoy it, with his role recast. The original Don Hughes was on ATWT quickly recast and Jim Matthews on AW was immediately recast within a week of the show’s premiere. I know it’s been 28 years but Sunset Beach did go through the same thing when the original Cole aka George Hamilton’s son and Shannen Doherty’s ex husband was replaced by Eddie Cibrian, fresh off Y&R and simultaneously starring in Baywatch Nights. I gave the AW and Sunset Beach examples above but wasn’t the first recasts on Passions really the multiple Kay actresses that occurred in summer 2000? LOL.
