The thing is that there was a reason why he faked his death so many times. Every time that was a rest from the canvas. I only thought of this after hitting send. One of the big reasons  he was as successful as he was, his not being on all the time.

RE: Stefano.  Yes. but then it changed and he was on all the time and normalized to eating lunch at the Brady Pub and being a fun grandpa.  That's what I objected to.  That's not who he was.  His only use for his family was as chesspieces.  Despite what current characters might say.

Yes Leslie/Dana works for now. The actress is wonderfully mesmerizing.  I just want the character to have arcs and not be a constant presence.

Exactly. For now. May she never drag. Which I think is what others (including me) are worried about because that actress kills. Pun unintended.

Hehe. Rewatching right now. Such a great camera moment.

i’ve never watched days…, so i can’t speak to stefano. nor have i watched much of the bell shows, however, i really don’t like villains like shelia.

but, i can tell you about roger thorpe. as played by michael zaslow — one of the best soap actors ever — viewers could see all of roger’s internal conflicts and emotional layers

when roger came on guiding light in 1971, it was not as a villain. he was a user, a manipulator, and had a troubled relationship with father. he wan’t running someone off the road, potentially killing someone, his first week on the show. he grew into his dark side

i know i’ve said this about these first weeks of btg: too much happening too fast — no buildup, no chance for viewers to anticipate! — to too many characters we’ve only just met.

Yeah, that was odd to me. I'm glad there was a lot to look at, because the dialogue in the Nicole testimonials was really generic and cliche. Very few specifics about any accomplishments.

-- Had to LOL at Dani being the MC, so soon after hitting the national news for threatening to kill her ex at his wedding.

-- Would love to have seen Anita eating at Orphey Gene's, keeping her gown and  cleavage clean.

-- I'm getting used to the Martin actor, and I do like his looks (and build). He's pretty despicable, though, and I still find it ridiculous that he's thinking of running for president.

-- I'm content to enjoy Leslie and whatever damage she creates. Why worry about the show ruining the villain character and making her "too much"? That makes no sense to me.

-- Overall? A strong soapy hour.

Disagree completely.

not a problem. i suspect some of these differences of opinion are generational

for the record: i was in kindergarten when ‘world turns came on the air in 1956 — you can do the math:) — but those early soaps (often dismissed as “your grandmother’s soap opera” were a very different animal from what the genre’s become over the decades.

The “event” for Nicole so far is underwhelming, and I really wish they didn’t try to do this so early on in the show’s run. As others have mentioned, this was just another Dupree family gathering with some filler to make it seem like a big huge deal. I still feel like the show exists in a bubble, and I know everyone mentions how many extras there are and how nice the sets are, but Fairmont doesn’t feel like a real place in the real world yet.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t like what the show is depicting in regards to wealthy, bourgie black people vs. lower middle class black people. I think a major opportunity was missed in not having a more down-to-earth family to balance the Duprees.

That last little twist with Eva was a nice surprise, yet made sense since Silk Press Sheila looked like she was going to be causing some trouble.  And the thing is that I kind of felt for her even though she's the baddie in the situation.

She should be so lucky. I will admit it. I'm not there with her. Sure, she's fine, hitting her marks, knows her lines, is at least to some degree, able to emote but I'm not seeing layers or nuance. Leslie to me is more of cartoon, or caricature, def not a classic villain but that doesn't mean she can't get the job done. Also we have seen zero vulnerability.

By now you will have seen that Stefano had a good period but it didn't last.

Thank you for this. I'm thinking Zas's Roger may have been the exception that proves the rule. Different, definitely not overexposed. Used sparingly or just enough. And also we got to see him as a regular person, a father, a friend, and yes, vulnerable.

    • As much as I love Zaslow, did Roger ever really have a conscience?  I know the Dinah/Hart plot grew distasteful, but Roger had run rampant in Springfield since his return. I was ok with him finally getting a taste of his own medicine, so to speak.

    • What a miracle to have all these 1973 dates for Y&R and the other soaps!! You are truly a godsend my friend and I can never thank you enough!!
    • 5-27   Mixed bag! lol.   In the designer department I can feel JM rolling his eyes at being in anything related to a suit, but she did go for comfort with Nick. And I felt it worked. And I liked what Nikki had on. And what Lily had on was something different for her, but she looked great in purple just as Amanda looked superb in white.   I could care less about the 'drama' between Adam and Chelesa. It's not even Chelesa's first time dealing with Victor's controlling ways. So my finger found the FF buttons quick.   Victor and Michael on the outs. Same ole, same ole. Not bored with it, but same ole. They could use Michael and Lauren for so much more. And Michael must have quit in one of those episodes I missed.   The highlight was easily Lily vs Phyllis. I don't know who wrote that, but THANK YOU. Lily was feeling her mama, and I loved every minute of that moment. I was just sad that the Dumas plot...and Amanda's role in it this episode...was clear C plot.

    • KMH was annoying AF as Emily or as I call her "Emiloon" that screech crying yikes, so bad
    • spoiler alert AMC...   Ha..this is one of those storylines, much like the Salem Stalker...and whatever Alex was supposed to be holding over Alan's head that Henry knew about...what was the original intention of the through line..who is Mary Bauer and why does Meta know Zach (I know what Zach is supposed to be but was he human before...is Chele a reincarnation of Mary? )Eventually was he supposed to become human? Why is he so dull if he who is supposed to be...but it does make sense on why he is so sexless.  Of course, what the hell was the burial ground storyline of Qualo..it was like they were trying to reenact the 80s with that  temple storyline Marland gave them...would have been more interesting to have Stacy come back with "return from the dead" Silas Crocker in disguise as an older lover.  McTavish is at loose threads here and you can tell she just does not give a damn anymore.  A great idea is hidden in the whole Roger/Dinah/Hart mess....Roger having a midlife crisis and breakdown would have been good...being confronted with all of his misdeeds, the two rapes, and also his murders (the show always likes to forget that he pushed a woman down the stairs and had to have killed people in the CIA.) Maybe something he does accidentally causes Holly to miscarry, and then he does something again accidnetly to hurt Hart so he thinks he killed him.

    • OMG! Not Lily vs Phyllis with Amanda giving the sip tea look!  The Dru came out in Lily!!! lol.
    • I remember, for their wedding, TPTB pulled out the old Stewart patio which had not been seen for years (and was not seen again). But during the 1960s, Ellen and David's patio was seen somewhat often during the summer months.
