I agree.  Gambling/loan-shark storylines worked on Edge of Night, mostly because they didn't over use them and they were well written (Henry Slesar was a genius).  But on other soaps, gambling plots are usually unenjoyable, uninspired, and depressing. Perhaps because they are so predictable.

In my opinion, political storylines also do not tend to work on soaps.  Ryan's Hope may be the exception, because most of their political plots focused on the campaign(s), and not so much on the details of "making the sausage". Other than RH, I have never seen a political plot that I enjoyed on a soap -- not even when the town Mayor is a character. (and by now, nearly every soap has tried a Mayor plot -- YUCK).  I don't think most soap writers know enough about politics to write a compelling political (or even Mayor) plot.  Plus, I don't think the soap audience really wants to watch politics on their soaps.  If BTG goes way into politics, I hope they do it with some level of true understanding.  I do have faith that MVJ knows what she's doing.  She is my new soap Goddess.

Eva/Nicole bonding. Uh oh. But wait...still too tender to talk about? Ooooh, another piece of the puzzle. too soon as in SIX MONTHS? Like what Silk Press Sheila said on Monday. Ooooo Nicole must know about the affair!

Wow. Martin and Smitty had good tension in this scene. And omg...the kids!!

Not Vanessa being jealous!

See? This is why I like this show. Randy should just be another typical henchman, but his history with Doug is making Doug's storyline have yet another layer.

Oh...HELL-HO!!!

LOL.

It does. Or more specifically a game room. I know I used to work at a restaurant that was next door to one such game room where the people never left the table and sent the workers (like the lady that was in the scene with Doug the other day) to run and get food orders for them so they never had to stop gambling.

But I also said there are backrooms. And those two do exist. Now on soaps...outside of this show...there was also Ms. Wu's on GH that was a major thing when that storyline was more featured...because it was being done in a backroom of the Savoy. Though I can't remember if we saw the backroom off the top of my head.

I'm sure Eva will turn out to be Ted's, but is Eva actually Silk Press Sheila's child?  I'm getting a vibe that maybe Silk Press Sheila did some stealing.

And I wonder if maybe this Alan individual that Silk Press Sheila mentioned losing six months ago could have been a patient of Nicole's?

I didn't see the point of Andre being in the episode.

Vanessa/Doug have an interesting vibe, and I'm wondering if Joey's interest in Doug will cause issues for Vanessa and her business.  Also, curious on if this Vanessa/Diego situation is going to go somewhere or if it will end up being a way for Joey to blackmail Vanessa?

Ashley/Derek = no comment

Smitty/Martin finally kissed and seemed like a couple today
