I always said Ron has writing talent.

As for Jamey, anyone could do what he did to get where he is

I’m worried he’ll be part of it.

And try to inject stupid stuff into it like he did with Liz/Marie at Doug’s

Guess we can put them on the list of actors who’ve spoken out now that Ron is gone

Today was very flashback heavy, but if it means that this Fake Rafe stuff is finally ending and leading into something better like Shawn/Jada/Rafe or EJ vs. Gabi and JJ, I’m all for it lol kinda feel bad for Shawn though. I’m curious to see where he’s gonna go from here.

I was really impressed by EJ/Dan Feuerriegel today. He played it like an actual villain, rather than some campy clown, which is exactly the why that he always should play it. And I was liking the way that this part of the storyline is building up. It’s starting to seem a lot more clever and well thought out than what we’ve seen over the past few months.

And yeah… Stephanie/Alex/Joy isn’t as interesting as Philip/Stephanie/Alex. JJ meeting Joy and finding out about the possible baby could be interesting though.

But, all the Body&Soul talk was unnecessary.

They were actually not that keen on the new writers. They were cautiously optimistic I'd say. Paul was pleased that other storylines bleed into his own as they should rather than Xander staying in his bubble.

It was very telling that only three actors publicly lamented Ron's firing: Ron W, Greg R and Julie D. Linsey G is very vocal in interviews about hating her current story and struggling to make sense of Sarah's logic.

I tuned out after Doug's death and was on a hiatus before that. The stories were the typical Ron nonsensical fair, but the Body &Soul tripe broke me.

I'll give the show a chance once the new writers come on board in April. I want to see how they handle John's goodbye. Still cant believe Drake is gone and the Jarlena love story is coming to an end.

Yeah, that definitely says something.

RSW and GR were no surprise considering Ron’s obsession with them. Hell, I would’ve been insulted on Ron’s behalf if they hadn’t said anything

As for Julie Dove, maybe she was fine with the way her character was written, but personally, I feel she deserved better.

Welcome!

It’ll be good to see more people in here after Ron leaves

Hey everyone! Any word on when John's memorial will be happening? Also curious about who's planning to come back for it?

I hate that Rita didn't get a chance to say where Arnold is to EJ.

I hate that Gabi can grab Rafe's gun because he doesn't keep it locked up.

Furthermore, I hate chem testing Joy with every guy on the show (btw, I'm betting she's sick, not pregnant).

On the other hand, this plot has given Galen Gering a time to shine.  His humor as Arnold, his charm when talking to Jada today, the fact that they've stopped dying his eyebrows; it all works for me.

I also appreciate that Shawn and JJ are adequate at their jobs.  It makes no sense that Shawn would interrogate a witness on his own.  But, I'm pleased that Shawn has not reverted to form and tried to date the stripper.

I've decided I'm not crazy about Joy. She can leave any time. She doesn't read as someone who's qualified to do anything but act on a terrible soap opera.

I think Galen did a nice job with Arnold, but it's gone on too long -- to the point where everyone else looks ridiculous.

He generally plays sarcastic or smug pretty well. He injects some life into it. They should've made Rafe a caustic [!@#$%^&*] heading up the Salem PD, without leading man storylines, and commenting on everyone else's idiocy long ago.

I'll go a step further and say -- which I can't believe I'm doing -- that Galen did a nice job selling Rafe's love for Jada in those reunion scenes today. I like Jada fine, but I've never felt any kind of heat between them or attachment to them, but today had something that kinda worked. Go figure.

    • The bit with the scarf reminds me of the fabled stuffed animal scene with Rick and Phillip. (That wasn't debunked, was it?)
    • Ohh, interesting. I instantly gravitated towards her in that episode. Of course I'm already hooked and want to know why she was trying to poison that older lady, but then how did the older lady know to switch the mugs so Susan drank her own poison...  but I have too many timelines I'm watching right now haha.  Oh, Bolger is definitely hot. I didn't realize he was on GL haha. I knew him from OLTL and other primetime stuff.
    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
    • I 100% agree but I think this is due to how the show is structured. It's a one family show which means there are no people in her age range that could be used as friends or contemporaries of her. The show definitely needs a second main family. I am glad someone finally said this. Especially now that the cast is gelling in their roles, he stands out like a sore thumb. No energy, no chemistry with anybody. He is just there.  I thought that was odd as well! The previous scene would've worked better as a tag for the credits.
    • That's the one and only Carrie Nye (Mrs. Dick Cavett) as Susan Piper, a deadly realtor. I don't want to spoil a lot if you ever want to see those episodes. She returns as another character in 2003. I think Grant has aged well and he always did a good job at being ripped without going too far, but he was never entirely my cup of tea either. I did think John Bolger was hot.
    • Totally agree. KKL looks great! It makes the Widge groveling so bizarre. Brooke needs to leave FC and with $B's/Liam's funding launch a rival fashion house with Hope, Rick, Katie and a secret designer. The best scenario is that Rick has been absent because he's been with very much alive C2, who is revealed on the runway as the secret designer. It'll never happen because B&B is comfortable just focusing on FC and the Forresters Marones v. Logans. But it'd been so much more interesting if the Spencers/Logans united.

    • Haha that scarf thing did go on a bit too long, very odd. And what a young Rick!  I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I just never got the physical appeal of Grant Aleksander, but he's definitely a great actor. Who is the older lady around the 8:30 mark, and also ends the episode, alone and in pain? She seems like a really interesting character. I love the smoky voice and sultry, snaky vibe she seems to have.
    • I can't remember exactly but I think she lives in or is part of the cottage story with Carrie. Carrie poisons her in this episode.  I forgot Teresa was on the show. (I see that AI is insisting she wasn't - well they're wrong) Poor Maeve. I can how even she had her limits.
    • It pisses me off that the other Duprees are making this incident all about them as well. They are playing a family of victims, acting as if Ted cheated on all of them. They should be supportive, but not like this. I have a family that makes anything that happens to me personally all about them, and seeing the same thing on TV is rage-inducing.
