Dave Ryan, Madeleine Phillips, Writers Guild Awards, WGA, WGA Awards, 2025 Writers Guild Awards, The Young and the Restless,

In a room filled with some of the most talented and respected writers in television and film, among other categories, writer Madeleine Phillips took time to acknowledge “Beyond the Gates” as she and fellow writer Dave Ryan gave an acceptance speech for “The Young and the Restless” taking home the Writers Guild Award for Daytime Drama during Saturday night’s in Los Angeles ceremony, which marked the show’s sixth win overall in the category.

After Ryan thanked the guild for its recognition of their show, along with the cast and crew, among others, Phillips added, “And we want to say to our colleagues at ‘Beyond the Gates,’ which is a new soap opera starting in a couple of weeks, we welcome you to daytime. We’re so happy you’re here and we look forward to seeing you here next year. Thank you, so, so much.”

This was the livestream of the Los Angeles WGA-West ceremony
(the youtube length is 2 hours, 46 minutes, but the first 30 minutes are blank space waiting for it to start).
(scroll to timestamp 1:31:00 to see the Daytime award with tiny clips from the nominated shows, and then the Y&R acceptance speeches welcoming BTG.)

---------------------------------------------

UPDATE:
The same evening, there was a simultaneous ceremony for WGA-East, held in New York, and these writers from Y&R were there to accept: Jeff Beldner and Marin Gazzaniga.

The WGA-East ceremony is up on the WGA-E youtube channel,
and they have a separate clip for the Daytime Drama award.
In this case, the presenter is actress DeWanda Wise who speaks for a couple of minutes to discuss and welcome BTG, and then she announces the nominees and the winners.
For WGA-East, writers Jeff Beldner and Marin Gazzaniga  accept the award for Y&R, and they give the same speeches as what the Y&R WGA-West writers said, thanking CBS, Sony, Bells, cast, crew, Josh Griffith, etc.
and then also welcoming BTG.

LMAO! So they scripted their speeches in sync with each coast in case they won? Wow.

You are amazing at finding this stuff!

A small correction - in the first video, the timestamp should be 1:31, not 1:21. :)

DeWanda Wise sure had trouble with the names but she makes up for it when she says Nadia's Theme makes her cry. She must be a fan!

Another funny thing I noticed is they thank "showrunner" Josh Griffith. They can't say headwriter because he's Fi-Core.

Thanks! I was able to edit it just in time, just before the one-hour limit for editing posts.

Update:
They edited out the first 30 minutes of the original livestream of the youtube,
(the part that had been blank time waiting for the ceremony to start.)
Thus the Daytime Drama award now starts around at 1:01:00.
