It would be great to see The Edge of Night return for the 3PM slot to close out the daytime hours. But give it a more of a Law and Order feel to it.

No way. Hayley the underdog? I don't think so. To me she is the worst kind of opportunist. May I remind you these people took her in, treated her as if she was family & we see how she repaid that!!! Plus, now, she wants to make nice & all sing Kumbahyah, or however that is spelled. Cookies? She brought cookies to try to make nice with Nicole! That dog won't hunt.

At the same time, Bill was the older man in a position of power over Haley. He knew about her insecurities and the fact that she didn’t have any stability or family in her life. He used that as his way in as powerful men who cheat often do.

Dani and Bill’s marriage was already broken before Haley. The fact Dani was willing to overlook his other affairs because they were kept away from her house says it all really. She seems most hurt in this case because Bill actually left her for Haley, and yes, because she treated Haley as family and got punched in the gut with this betrayal.

Dani, I think, is more upset that Bill actually left her for his side piece thus breaking the facade of their life and marriage together. It was all about keeping up appearances for her.

But, in a way, it seems that’s nothing new for the Dupree’s. Anita and Vernon are merely keeping up appearances and trying to salvage Martin’s reputation (whatever it is that he did) by forcing their whole family to attend this trifling wedding, lol.

Dani is upset this time for a very understandable reason. Bill, a serial cheater, nevertheless apparently before, stayed firm in their marriage & their supposedly happy home. Now, all of that is changed! Marriage dissolved, both physically & legally. Happy home? HA!!

But, I contend that the line earlier this week about Dani suddenly caring what other people think is meaningful. It would seem that she was impervious to any rumors or scuttlebutt before. Now, is different.

Obviously she knew she didn't have the perfect marriage. What she did have, though, was it would seem satisfactory to her. I would imagine from that, that Bill was seemingly attentive to her & a good father to their girls.

I don't think you understood my point. So I'll clarify and explain. Right now she is the outsider in regards to the Duprees. She has put herself in that position through her own actions. In this moment she is the unwanted one - the one that everyone in the family hates, disapproves off and etc. In that context she IS the underdog aka outsider trying to gain a stronger position and respect (through marrying Bill). They've said many times about how they are so powerful and build that community and etc... and it leaves your with the impression that the Homewrecker will have a lot of trouble getting accepted after she did what she did. Yes, she is an opportunist no doubt, but she is also put in the corner in a way. And that is what I mean by... The underdog becoming powerful. It may happen that one day Hayley owns The Duprees in some way. That slap in the beginning with everyone looking at her like she is the scum of the earth... May comeback to haunt the entire family. In a metaphorical way.

It was not just a coincidence that the entire show started that way. MVJ is very smart.

This is what I've said!!! Ripped from the headlines text! A female character akin to Olivia.

But that wasn’t a good/solid marriage at all. She had to have known blindly turning the other way for years was going to eventually result in something disastrous. She was in love more with the idea of her marriage than the actual state of her marriage. She was willing to go along with the facade just as long as Bill stuck with her, but he ultimately left her.

There is no "serial cheater" that is ever staying "firm" in a marriage or a base of a "happy home". Sorry to disagree. That just doesn't exist. Any psychologist can tell you why. The only alternative is... if that marriage was an open one and Dani was okay with him hooking up left and right. But that is not the impression I got.

Absolutely. Dani is in love with herself mostly and the image she presents to the world. But that is why I think she can grow from this point on. Because that image is now shattered.

Episode 4 fleshed out Bill a little, and Naomi's scenes really worked.

The actress playing Vanessa calmed out a little.

The nurse was so exhausted that her boyfriend put on her coat, carried her to the car and into her house without waking up? RME....hmmn....'k.

Silly quibble---everyone looks so right out of the store perfect. Couldn't the cop and the firefighter be in clothes that at least look a little bit lived in?

I'm just wondering if Hayley gives birth to a child... If they are going to make it seem like she is incapable of raising it... And then maybe Dani can takeover the baby with Bill. And that be the karma for the homewrecker. Hayley gives me a vibe that as soon as Bill leaves her, which is going to happen... She is going to spiral hard. Or maybe they will go the Brooke Logan path and turn Hayley into the star and she will takeover the entire community. LOL

The Count of Monte Cristo... Underdog turned Queen storyline.

Either that or Hayley gives birth to Bill's child and something happens to her (she dies) and Bill turns to Dani for comfort and Dani ends having to raise his child with Hayley.

This should be Hayley's theme song.  Orphan turned Homewrecker. 🤩

Does it, though? It could have been from either Anita and/or Vernon pre-marriage.

It has to be Vernon's to be a Dupree by blood and carry on his last name and legacy. Anita's child separate from him doesnt do that. Anita having a kid before she married Vernon has no legitimate claim to his empire as an heir

They could always say Vernon has an older son from a previous marriage/relationship that lives away from the community currently. He does look quite a bit older than Anita (but that doesn't matter on soaps as we've seen).

However, they'd need to do that very soon (as the show is new) and establish that quickly for it to make sense.

Hilarious! The legendary Costume Designer Jeresa Featherstone gets criticism because they all look too good! I love it!!!

There's nothing to say that a descendant of Anita couldn't legally change their name.

Either way, it does not have to be from outside of the marriage, as you previously stated. A child could have been born pre-marriage.

And easily, Anita could have possibly been with a sibling/family member of Vernon's prior to them getting together, etc. I'd hate that kind of storytelling, but it's a viable option. Or a child could change their name; no one said the child needed to be a Dupree by blood.
