I've been enjoying this week for the most part, but Kate settling down with milk and cookies was the strangest writing. She would have something 1) more adult and 2) more rich and decadent. Little choices like that, which disregard such simple characterization piss me off.

How long did it take them to figure it's Rafa and not Rafe? I've never heard a person named Rafael called Rafe.

It's just like Marcos. People pronounce it Marcus. It's not Marcus. It's a long o sound and not the u sound.

Yeah… kill off both Rachel’s. I can’t stand either character and Kristen deserves it. She needs to pay for being such a horrible person.

And yeah, the fact that Brady and Steve found Ava but not Rafe proves how stupid this throwback to Aremid was. Two months to go, boys and girls

Belle and Shawn’s fight was the best part of today. Belle was a raging bitch but I actually didn’t mind it. It’s an interesting addition to this storyline. Plus, it didn’t feel like Ron’s typical anti-women writing. Idk if it was him or MM that was largely responsible for it but I enjoyed it. Shawn told her a lot of truths today and hopefully, this is the first fight of many that she has with him, Marlena, etc. over her relationship with EJ. But yeah, everything that EJ did to her family still needs to be a part of this storyline. Shawn teased it a little today but it needs to be brought up a lot more. And I also liked that he was there to comfort Jada at the end.

Speaking of Jada, I liked her scenes with Javi too, mostly because it was all taken seriously and not treated like some big joke. I know I’m always saying that Elia Cantu plays Jada as so mean sometimes, but she did a really good job today. She was more devastated than angry and I think that was the right choice for those scenes. But I still say all of this and the potential Shawn/Jada pairing could have happened without Fake Rafe. So many times, the writers introduce a dynamic or tease a storyline that could be so good but then pass it up in favor of something not as good, or just flat out terrible.

And all the Leo love was

I mean, for someone who was essentially brought in as a Tootsie replacement and was incredibly flat in her first few months, I think Cantu has certainly proved herself. It's a shame her sister storyline fizzled out since it would've been nice for her to have a bit more family connections in Salem to solidify her on the canvas. Maybe Shawn / Jada could go long-term.

Needless to say, I'm on Thursday and this show has really bad writing. I didn't mind them doing a closet-size Maison Blanche because I'm sure they steal spare change from the actors to fund the show, but if they're going to make us believe they now house several hostages in there... well, it's just lazy writing.

I'm always fairly amused by these kidnappings which never seem well thought out by supposed "smart" villains.

I watched an old video of the prior version of OG-Rachel and this one pales in comparison.  I know the character has aged, and she's been through a lot, but the OG had been through trauma, but was still very appealing.

Also, it felt like Shawn-D's scenes were filmed on separate days.  Why would he leave the station to go talk to Jada in the square?

And, how clunky was the dialogue between Steve and Rachel?  When he referred to Ava as the mother of “one of his sons” I actually spit out my coffee.  The only thing worse would have been if he sacrificed getting more information from Rachel for even more exposition (i.e.,”her other son was a rapist who returns as a ghost every Halloween, until he was cast on a new soap premiering Monday on CBS”).  It is such a soapy thing that characters sacrifice vital information for unnecessary exposition.

Meanwhile, is Cat's Mother still in Canada?  Didn't they prove that she was coerced by Clyde?  I was hoping for some old lady jail unit where Rachel and Catherina could be roomies.

I got a chuckle out of today's Worn on TV about DAYS.  Apparently, Rachel's white coat was an Eileen Fisher design for about $200 bucks.  So, while she may live in a decrepit mansion, Rachel still enjoys an upper-tier retail designer. Forget how she pays for utilities, the real question is how much does it cost to maintain an all white wardrobe season after season?  And while she may save on hair dye, those beachy ringlets look straight out of a bi-weekly Dry Bar visit.

Proving the old song; How ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm, after they've seen Paris?

So, Stephanie actually has just been relegated to being Alex’s little woman. SMH.

Hopefully, things will change with the new writers. Exactly two months to go!!

She did seem to have some toughness with Fake Rafe though, which was nice to see. Now, she’s just needs to have that in more of her scenes. And I didn’t expect her to be the one to realize the truth about all this Fake Rafe nonsense either. You’d think it would’ve been like Gabi or somebody who realized it.

Shawn/Jada was the best part of today. The road to get here could have been a lot better but I’m glad that we’re finally here. I could see them as a couple, for a little while anyway and I’m ready to go along with them for the ride. It could be really good, especially now that the new writers are coming. A new couple, under new writers is interesting to me, regardless of who the writers or who the characters, are. And yes, Shawn looked hot

The music in that final scene though… not hot at all

And, we got an update about Will and Sonny. Happy and safe from Leo, just like they should be.

Btw, Gabi spoke for all of us today when she mentioned Leo.

As for Leo… Skip. #PoorBilly#PoorAl

Again, the only thing I’ll give Javi/Leo is that, as much as I dislike the pairing, it’s still not as utterly repulsive and nauseating as Dimitri/Leo

So no follow up with the EJ and Kristen scene? Literally all I was interested in. Tired of the Jada show like I was the Leo show last month. I pray we get balance with the new team so we see everyone twice a week instead of certain characters 4 times a week and others 4 times a month.

    • The bit with the scarf reminds me of the fabled stuffed animal scene with Rick and Phillip. (That wasn't debunked, was it?)
    • Ohh, interesting. I instantly gravitated towards her in that episode. Of course I'm already hooked and want to know why she was trying to poison that older lady, but then how did the older lady know to switch the mugs so Susan drank her own poison...  but I have too many timelines I'm watching right now haha.  Oh, Bolger is definitely hot. I didn't realize he was on GL haha. I knew him from OLTL and other primetime stuff.
    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
    • I 100% agree but I think this is due to how the show is structured. It's a one family show which means there are no people in her age range that could be used as friends or contemporaries of her. The show definitely needs a second main family. I am glad someone finally said this. Especially now that the cast is gelling in their roles, he stands out like a sore thumb. No energy, no chemistry with anybody. He is just there.  I thought that was odd as well! The previous scene would've worked better as a tag for the credits.
    • That's the one and only Carrie Nye (Mrs. Dick Cavett) as Susan Piper, a deadly realtor. I don't want to spoil a lot if you ever want to see those episodes. She returns as another character in 2003. I think Grant has aged well and he always did a good job at being ripped without going too far, but he was never entirely my cup of tea either. I did think John Bolger was hot.
    • Totally agree. KKL looks great! It makes the Widge groveling so bizarre. Brooke needs to leave FC and with $B's/Liam's funding launch a rival fashion house with Hope, Rick, Katie and a secret designer. The best scenario is that Rick has been absent because he's been with very much alive C2, who is revealed on the runway as the secret designer. It'll never happen because B&B is comfortable just focusing on FC and the Forresters Marones v. Logans. But it'd been so much more interesting if the Spencers/Logans united.

    • Haha that scarf thing did go on a bit too long, very odd. And what a young Rick!  I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I just never got the physical appeal of Grant Aleksander, but he's definitely a great actor. Who is the older lady around the 8:30 mark, and also ends the episode, alone and in pain? She seems like a really interesting character. I love the smoky voice and sultry, snaky vibe she seems to have.
    • I can't remember exactly but I think she lives in or is part of the cottage story with Carrie. Carrie poisons her in this episode.  I forgot Teresa was on the show. (I see that AI is insisting she wasn't - well they're wrong) Poor Maeve. I can how even she had her limits.
    • It pisses me off that the other Duprees are making this incident all about them as well. They are playing a family of victims, acting as if Ted cheated on all of them. They should be supportive, but not like this. I have a family that makes anything that happens to me personally all about them, and seeing the same thing on TV is rage-inducing.
