Y&R: February 2025 Discussion Thread

The best part of this past whole week has been the Damian storyline without a doubt and to me it’s the only story that’s been worth watching.

Everything involving Nate, Audra, Amy, Holden, and Damian has been on point and I’ve enjoyed what I’ve seen so far this week.

Damian’s Thursday scenes with Lily and Friday’s scenes with Amy were the high points. Also same with Holden & Audra.

NOW, as for the rest of the show, yeah there’s nothing new here.

Now Victor being unsettled by Damian’s presence in GC is interesting.  However, Victor huffing and puffing  his 12,867th (or is it 12,868th?) declaration that he wants to destroy Jack for good isn’t interesting at all.

Nobody asked for Josh Griffith to give us a Romeo & Juliet story and I don’t think anyone but he cares. Meanwhile 5…4…3…2…1… to the the show’s current quad from hell swapping each other again.

Granted, I personally find Y&R more watchable than the Leo Hour or the disgusting mess that airs after Y&R that I’ve quit watching again. But just keeping its head barely above water isn’t good either.

I’m personally hoping BTG actually blows Y&R out that forces the hand to get rid of JG and of course our “beloved” executive in charge (of nothing) Steve Kent with more compatible replacements and maybe Sony just sells the show to CBS/Paramount?

The Damian story with all characters involved is literally the only thing keeping me watching Y&R these days.

Literally the only person that cares about seeing Victor take down Jack in 2025 has to be EB himself or Josh Griffith.

They have got to keep Amy around. Especially without Nate having Olivia around. They have such a nice mother/son vibe going. And she’s really helped to flesh out Audra as well.

Those scenes with Amy and Damien on Friday were fantastic.  Damien and Lily also have some chemistry.

I stopped fast forwarding long enough to find out Phyllis is missing so I assume this is Ian continuing his plan.

Let me just take a moment to say that I LOVE Susan Walters growing her hair out. It looks gorgeous.

He's just stretching out how Jack is the reason Nikki kept on her relapse (as if it wasn't Jordan's fault). Even though Jack almost died to get Nikki back on the wagon. Yes, Still.

2-17

A decent start to the week.

I admit that I do like the teasing about the redo of the Abbott mansion. I'm curious about what Ed Scott will plan to do to that set. Meanwhile...like I said, I love that SW is growing out her hair as Diane.

Ooooo NOW Kyle wants to get nervous about meeting Victor and Nikki. Le sigh. Other than that, I'm not feeling the Kyle/Claire story. I guess it could be my excitement over BTG starting tomorrow, but there really is no young romance going on on this show. And while I love seeing Victor/Nikki, Jack/Diane together and united, they are currently not in any drama. And I don't like Billy/Sally cuz she deserves better. Adam/Chelesa are sleep inducing. Summer/Chance are on break. So...where's the couples having drama?

Oh...yeah. In the DAMIAN STORYLINE. lol. It's nice to see that now that Nate/Audra have been built up as a couple that they are starting to be tested. And not just their argument over Damian in this episode, but the juicy secret that Audra has a past with Holden. Meanwhile, Lily wants Victor to investigate Damian. Hmmm. I also like she had scenes with Victor and Nikki since they no longer interact much again.

Still...good start to the week. But again...the Damian storyline continues to be THE storyline.

Asking for SPOILERS below.  If you don't want to read SPOILERS, just scroll on by please. . .

So what's the deal with Sharon and Phyllis?

A post on Daytime Confidential says they've been kidnapped, but doesn't reveal much else.  Who do you think has kidnapped them?  Any speculation??

2-19

Oops. I've so busy getting ready to devour BEYOND THE GATES, I don't think I finished watching 2-18. lol.  That said...this episode continued the trend of being mildly interesting due to the lack of the Damian storyline.

That said...I did like the Daniel/Summer scenes. And he was not wrong to call her out on her jealousy. He was also not wrong in calling her Giggly Heffa 2.0. Just ugh at how Summer is being written.

That dinner sure did go left fast. I liked that Kyle caught on that Victor was up to something. And I'm always here for Jack/Diane vs Victor/Nikki scenes. Moreso for Diane vs Nikki scenes. So that was brief and good. Though I wonder what Victor is about to do.

And mmmmm to Michael's bod and that he and Lauren got some lovey dovey time.

Color me surprised at Audra confessing her Holden connection to Nate. Obviously, there's more...

Nice little throwback with Mariah and Summer sniping at each other. I half-expected Mariah to call Summer 'snowflake'.

I liked that Mariah, Daniel, Summer and Nick last seeing 'Sharon/Phyllis' together were on radically different timelines. Mariah back on Xmas Eve! It's interesting because while the audience saw those meetings, it was a nice detail that not every character was either privy to or part of those encounters. I think Daniel has been around for most.

Chelsea and Adam have been thrown into a bizarro alt universe. While MCE does *warm* well, she is really better when Chelsea is scheming. Neutered, lovesick Adam doesn't work at all and it's clear MG isn't into it. Both actors can handle far more challenging material. Waste.

It doesn’t help that MCE had much better chemistry with both MM and Justin Hartley as Adam. I feel zero connection between her and Gossman. He actually had chemistry with Sally so of course they never even made it a year either time they were a couple.

    • Tbf it's not unusual for a family when they are dealing with some bad news that changes a life to use song to give out hope.Especially black families. I personally had to deal with that very thing this weekend. Partly off putting, but at the same time, I did get the point and it gave me a bit of hope in the moment.      MM is definitely acting. But Smitty is just so passive. It could turn into quiet strength at some point, but for now...passive IMO.
    • Am I remembering correctly that the Madison's lived in a Spanish revival-style house? I have a vague recollection of the fireplace looking especially Spanish in style. It is unusual that Montecello had so many architectural styles.  Obviously, that might occur IRL.  But, look at other east coast soaps and there is a definitive style that is throughout (because it was styled by a set decorator) regardless of the income of the occupants.
    • @kalbir MSW was a powerhouse for CBS. Angela Lansbury was a superb actress. In 1985, TV viewers were tiring of the primetime soaps and the like. People wanted storytelling and MSW was great at that and had great guest stars. Storytelling -- an amazing and novel concept. CBS Daytime by 1985 was beating ABC so CBS was on the upswing.
    • I'd say just the opposite - conflict means they will find out and then be at odds. For the limited amount of time people on this show have conflict (if they aren't named Nina or Ric, I guess).
    • Totes mcgoats (aka I agree). But, now the character needs to move forward.  Clyde's exit was 12/11/24.  It is May.  She and Chad have been on one date. I don't think they've slept together. And she was only planning on sticking around for a year.
    • That is one of the best insults I've heard in a long time.  I burst out laughing when Kat called Eva that.  LOL Their scenes, of course, were really good.  Colby and Ambyr have so much chemistry.  The only thing I'd change is Kat saying "you're dead to me."  That's a phrase usually said about someone you care about.  I would've preferred something like "You will never be my sister," or something similar to that.  Nice contrast at the end with both mothers/daughters:  Kat comforting/consoling her mother, and Eva being locked out by her mother.  Yeah, I wasn't a big of fan of the singing either, especially after your daughter's life has been destroyed.  What?  LOL And I also agree with those that thought Dana/Leslie's scenes with the Dupree's didn't feel right since Eva is not a Dupree....unless she is.  But as of right now, she's not.
    • Trisha Mann-Grant, Ambyr Michelle, Sean Freeman are destined for bigger and better things. They need to move on as soon as their initial contracts are done.
    • Daphnée Duplaix and Trisha Mann-Grant on Instagram live, 5/5/2025 just concluded, saved here https://www.instagram.com/p/DJSsYb7PDv8/
    • I really need to see Anita in a scene that isn't with a family member. In fact, I would have preferred that she would have gotten rid of the mob and had a one on one with Leslie to lay down the law with her.  I'm going to say it, Mike Manning has been completely lifeless on this show. Other than people's superficial fondness for him, I don't get what they see in him as an actor. I never saw him on DAYS though. The show had another really strange cut right before the opening credits where it looked like they almost cut off Nicole mid-sentence.  Kat/Eva are carrying this show on their backs. Lock them in for lifetime contracts, I beg.
    • There's a 1980 scene of Victor and Katherine in the Chancellor Estate living room where they went over a contract that would put Victor in charge of Chancellor Industries, but it was rewritten that Katherine brought Victor to Genoa City so he could run Chancellor Industries.
