ALL: Extremely long-held secrets that still haven’t been revealed to other characters?

I’m talking about things that happened on a soap a minimum of 10-15 years ago, but which other characters are still in the dark about today.

On B&B:

- In 1991, Stephanie forged a letter, supposedly from Eric, where he gave his wife Brooke permission to cheat on him with Ridge. Upon Ridge and Brooke doing the deed and discovering Stephanie’s scheme, they confessed the betrayal to Eric, but never revealed anything about the letter or Stephanie’s role in it. Eric still doesn’t know about the letter, nor a previous incident where Bridge had sex on the lab floor. Only Stephanie knew about the lab incident, and only Brooke knows she knew (but not how, or that Blake Hayes was involved).

- Stephanie’s and Clarke’s affair in 1987 is not known about by anyone.

- Sheila spiking Macy’s drink (1993)

- Mike Guthrie’s role in stealing the designs from Forrester (1995), or his (hinted at, never confirmed) forging of the letter that led to Bridget’s paternity being tested again (1996). Also the (hinted at) killing of Dr. Peters as part of the latter scheme.

- Very few characters (Rick, James, the model Samantha) know about the first Eric/Taylor affair in 1995. They might conceivably have revealed it during their later 2013 involvement, but I don’t remember any dialogue to that effect.

- Jessica never learned about Dylan’s relationship with her mother Maggie (1995). Borderline doesn’t belong here, as all three characters were not on the show for long.

- Only very select people (Ridge, Stephanie, Eric, Caroline, Lt. Burke, Deveney Dixon, Ridge’s therapist friend) learned about Thorne being the one who shot Ridge in 1988.

Stephanie and Clarke only had 2 or 3 kisses. She declined his offer to have an affair. Also Taylor declined Eric to have an affair with her - he tried and tried and tried - as I recall it was 1 kiss or 2. I would not call these 2 situations affairs.

And why I'm correcting this. The definition of affair is

a sexual relationship between two people, one or both of whom are married to or in a long-term relationship with someone else.

The others examples are perfect! Great topic! As usual you are spot on.

I would add.

- Nobody to this day knows that it was Sheila who wrote a letter on behalf of Brooke, revealing that Bridget is probably Eric and not Ridge's daughter. When the letter was discovered in Brooke's house... Brooke got all the blame and subsequently lost her mind, because everyone thought she's been hiding the true paternity of Bridget for years. It was Sheila all along that did this. Nobody knows that. Brooke's whole life collapsed after this action by Sheila.

I got the distinct impression it may have been Mike Guthrie. He even ”hypothetically” confessed it to Sheila, who recorded the conversation on a tape for blackmail. Sheila did take advantage of the situation to get closer to Brooke, at minimum, so it may equally well be her, and thus Mike’s confession would be a case of him falling for wordplay. I’m only less than midway through 1996 in the vault, so it’s possible it gets clarified at some point which of the two did it, but my understanding is that the show would never confirm it either way.

I remember... we saw Sheila's desk with letters on it... so many times and her looking at it with an evil look... and she recorded Mike... basically trying to frame him to look like he and not her did it. I'm pretty sure 99.9 percent it was her. Mike told her to her face that it was not him that wrote it. Sheila was acting so happy after that letter was discovered. She even said to herself - Brooke, you deserve what is coming to you or something similar to that. Me and my husband both have the same recollection that it was her, but she did everything possible to make it seem it was Mike. Maybe I am mistaken, but I don't have time to go and look over the episodes again. Someone tell me if I'm right or wrong.

Take this with a grain of salt, but it's hilarious none the less. This is what AI had to say about it. It's similar to my recollection, but... I can't trust AI 100 percent. It's quite cool just for the sake of laughs.

Who forged a letter in 1996 and planted it in Brooke Logan's house on the Bold and The Beautiful?

In 1996 on "The Bold and the Beautiful," the storyline involving the forged letter unfolded as follows:
  1. Discovery of the Letter: Ridge Forrester discovered a letter hidden in a book at the Forrester mansion. The letter was from Mulholland Hospital and raised doubts about Bridget's paternity.

  2. Brooke's Reaction: Brooke Logan was shocked and devastated by the contents of the letter, as it suggested that Bridget might not be Ridge's daughter.

  3. Investigation: Lauren and James tried to figure out who planted the letter. They suspected Sheila Carter's involvement and deduced that Mike Guthrie helped her.

  4. Revelation: It was eventually revealed that Mike Guthrie, under Sheila's manipulation, planted the letter to create turmoil and doubt within the Forrester family.

  5. Confrontation: James informed Stephanie about their suspicion, and Stephanie was convinced that the letter was genuine and that Brooke had bribed Dr. Peters to alter the paternity test results.

This storyline added a lot of drama and tension to the show, as the characters navigated the fallout from the planted letter and the questions it raised about Bridget's paternity.

Does this help clarify the events for you?

But who wrote the letter?

The letter that questioned Bridget's paternity in "The Bold and the Beautiful" was written by Sheila Carter. She orchestrated the entire scheme and manipulated Mike Guthrie into planting the letter in Brooke's house.

Sheila's cunning and manipulative nature often led her to create chaos and turmoil for the characters on the show. This particular storyline added a lot of drama and tension, as it affected the relationships and trust among the Forrester family.

Is there anything else you're curious about regarding this storyline or any other events on the show?

But did we see her write it?

In "The Bold and the Beautiful," we don't actually see Sheila Carter writing the letter on screen. Her involvement and the fact that she manipulated Mike Guthrie into planting the letter are revealed through the storyline and the characters' investigations.

This kind of off-screen manipulation and revelation is typical in soap operas, adding to the drama and intrigue as characters uncover the truth.

Is there any other aspect of the show you're curious about?

DAYS: An attempted murder in August 2007: EJ lured Lucas into a freezer truck, and locked him in there, intentionally leaving him there to die from freezing.  Sami later figured out where Lucas was, and convinced EJ to help her rescue Lucas, so EJ had to do that in order to please Sami.

As far as I know, Sami still thinks EJ was helping her rescue Lucas that day, and nobody ever found out that EJ arranged for Lucas to die there. I don't think Sami or Lucas or anyone (except EJ) knows the truth.

How long is long? Because DAYS has plenty within the past 12–24 months.

Nobody knows that in October 2023, EJ hired a hit woman to kill Xander (and then he hired another hitman to kill the hit woman, who was in hospital).

This is contentious, but we saw Officer Goldman shoot Lucas & Kate, and we know Stefan shot Harris (although nobody but Harris knows that), but we still don't know who set fire to the Horton House in February.

Also, I think only EJ and Rafe know that Melinda orchestrated the Sloan/Nicole baby switch.

Brooke and Sheila were friends or at least pretty close before Sheila's big secrets were revealed in mid 1995 and she was hauled off to jail. Months later, Sheila got released and Brooke rejected her. Sheila felt betrayed by her and wanted revenge. That's when and why the Bridget's paternity storyline 2.0  started.

    • “On ERICA versus RACHEL, Erica was a very unique character. ... Rachel was a lower-class Erica, her mother was a cleaning woman, and her goals were not nearly stratospheric as Erica’s. Rachel just wanted to marry Russ or somebody with money. What Erica and Rachel have in common is they thought if they could get their dream, they’d be satisfied. But that dream has been very elusive.”– Agnes Nixon, Creator, ONE LIFE TO LIVE, ALL MY CHILDREN, and LOVING So my takeaway from this, plus knowing the characters, is that both Rachel & Erica schemed for acquisition. They wanted to acquire romance, husbands, prosperity, a kind of low-level fame or notoriety.  Am I correct in thinking that Carla schemed for safety, camouflage, to keep from getting caught & so for survival? Or did she also scheme for things similar to above?

    • Paula and Jeanne’s first time writing Alex and Stephanie. It didn’t seem like there were any changes in Alex at all lol but I can’t help  but think that that’s more on RSW than the writing. I didn’t see a big change with Stephanie either, but I did enjoy her scenes with Kayla, whose character has gotten so much stronger since last week. I hope we get to see a lot more of their relationship, and their relationship with Steve as well. As for Steve and Shawn stealing the drug to try to save Bo, idk. I don’t dislike it, but I just don’t know lol but I also think that it is time for Steve to pass the torch on to the next hero.  And finally, Javi showed some kind of spark! I was a little worried in his first scene today that he was going to continue to be so obsessed with Leo, but him demanding that Leo drop the investigation into Rafe and Gabi could actually be pretty interesting. I don’t think that would’ve happened under Ron. And if we’re forced to endure Javi/Leo, let them at least have some kind of actual conflict, instead of the forced, biased crap that we were subjected to. And speaking of Leo, one year ago today, he got Dimitri’s letter

Btw, why is Gabi so beholden to Javi? Cousin or not, if I was her, the minute he said to her, “If he goes, I go”, I would’ve been like  Also, are they going to go there with Philip and Gabi? I’d prefer that than Gabi getting involved with Alex.
    • She does look good in blue. I wish they'd do more with her hair, change it up the way JMW does now and then
    • Hahaha - this is hilarious (and a ton of wigs at use!). The closing shot!!! LOL
    • Yes. I don't know if Lenore was ever asked. Then it became a nun. Thanks. I didn't realize it was in 1987. That timeline doesn't make a lot of sense even if she would have had Ed to interact with. If they didn't ask her back in 1989 and she was willing, what a stupid error. The attempts at these feuds, or even the whole families tied together stuff like Maryanne Carruthers, never had any real impact because of how depleted the Bauers felt even by the mid '80s. And instead of expanding them, which would have been common sense, various producers were just too lazy, or too ashamed, and kept bringing on other families, or bringing in too many people at one time and not knowing how to write for them (the Spauldings in the McTavish era - as SOD said at the time, everyone in the family had the same personality).
    • Wasn't there talk of them bringing back Rita as Gus' mother at one point? Or something?
