These Christmas episodes have been pretty good. A lot of nice family scenes and the utilization of the large cast to make the holiday feel real has been on point.

I love the way they’re playing Lucky clearly falling head over heels for Liz again and the scenes with him, Lulu, Laura, Dante and Rocco were nice. Tracy gave Lulu that speech on not forgetting Rocco and she still ended up leaving after Charlotte gave up her location, poor kid I felt bad for him at the end.

Brook Lynn leering at Tracy and Lulu bonding and telling Chase how jealous she is of her was funny and yeah they continue to drop the Gio is her kids hints heavily. I could have done without the impromptu singing, violin and guitar playing but whatever its Christmas

Gio and Emma interaction was too short for me to judge chemistry or her new actress but I’m excited to have the character back and already kind of shady with the pick pocketing plot. The Scorpio/Jones family is so deep on canvas now which is cool and I continue to be a happy Spixie fan.

Ric and Alexis decorating for Molly was a bit corny but I still enjoyed it. NLG and RH haven’t missed a beat chemistry wise.

I continue to like Jordan and Isaiah but I hope they get the ball rolling on an actual plot for them next year once this slow build is done. It was nice he sent TJ to be with her instead of at work

Jason and Ned talking about Edward was nice to see, I really love having him back at the Q mansion. His scenes looking at the stars with Danny were sweet too and I love how bothered he and Sonny are by Brennan and Carly.

Joss seems to be smelling a rat too though I wonder where they’re going with the mention of him knowing about her and Dex

Man could the Spencer’s be any worse at just treating their kids like [!@#$%^&*]. It’s literally second nature for them.

I was shocked the girl in the park was Emma. I didn’t see much of a spark there between the actors in the way I’ve seen with Trina and Gio. But we’ll see.

I know they won’t and they never should go there again, but Ric and Alexis had their old chemistry back like not a day had passed. Rick Hearst continues to just prove every day why it was smart to give this man a job again.

Ned and Tracy being this excited about Jason being back in the Q house is cute. With them being the only remaining elder Q’s appearing on camera though it just illustrates how many years too late this is to truly have an impact, while I do enjoy it. I do wonder because I’ve forgotten if Edward was alive or not at the time, if he would’ve been more receptive to Drew than Tracy and Ned are. In the BM Days, Monica loved having an Alan son actually actually acknowledge the family. Whereas it seems Tracy and Ned just always wanted it to be Jason.

The girl playing Emma seems solid, if slightly old for the part. I guess she'd work as a contemporary of Nicholas Chavez and probably William Lipton. It is hilarious the lengths they will go to to avoid ever pairing Trina with anyone white again, though. Gio gets a few more unexpectedly well-liked scenes with her and boom! New white girl hits the scene!

I like Gio and I have nothing against NuEmma so far (Brooklyn Silzer was adorable but could not handle dramatic acting as an adult, a recast was inevitable) but I don't care about them together. You're not gonna put over a very new guy like Gio and an all-new recast that easily. It just feels like something to cement him (and keep him away from Trina), and I'd rather see both parties tested around with others.

Alexa has really brought the spunk back to Lulu, without the hardness that JMB had to go with it. No, I don't love her quest for her hellspawn but the scenes with her breaking into Wyndemere, etc. really had spark and good chemistry with DZ.

I feel like the reason is not just about Trina and a white man, but Trina as a character. The show is fine with a C-heroine like Jordan, similar to the way previous black B/C heroines like Claudia, Simone or Dara had been treated, but Trina had a very prominent place with some fans in the last year or so, and that rocks the boat. I've seen some fans decrying how Trina or Trina's fans ruined the place that Joss had on the canvas, and the wonderful glory days of her friendship with Spencer (and the whole Cam/Spencer/Joss unit). I wouldn't be surprised if a number of people at the show feel the same way. Emma can fit more into that vision of nostalgia which Trina can't, because Trina, like almost all black characters in GH's history, is permanently othered.

Emma and Gio and Joss can take the spotlight, and maybe another cornbread piece of ass to join them. Trina can either settle for scenes with Kai that keep them both firmly in their place, or leave, never to be mentioned again, which the show would likely prefer as that means they can recast Spencer and not have to deal with any fan complaints about Sprina.

I do think that's likely, unfortunately. And I think that's all true. It's just a sickness at the show. But I don't begrudge the new actors, who I think are fine. There's plenty of useless and tired white characters on the show but I'm not gunning for Emma and Gio. (Joss can stand to stay on the backburner for awhile.) And hey, I'd love to be surprised if Trina gets something truly substantial again.

I definitely don't begrudge any of the actors, who are just reading lines as quickly as possible and have no say and no value. It's all on the show, which saw popularity and passion and took it out on the character and actress, then saw racial abuse and again seemingly saw it as justification to just triple down all the more on the show that those same racist fans had been begging for. I guess that's just soaps today...and America at large, I guess.

(I suppose if we complain too much whoever at the show was so eager for Spencer/Esme will step in)

I completely agree; I've always believed, since her debut, she's been a nice mix of both Julie Marie Berman and Emme Rylan, which you don't always get in a recast. And yet, she feels fresh in her own portrayal.

I agree; plus, I'm going to need a history re-visit between Emma & Josslyn, and for Emma to let Joss have it for her treatment of both Cameron & Spencer. It's OVERDUE!

It is stupefying that GH has the most Black actors on contract in their history, and they do use them consistently, but still clearly not letting them center anything or feel significant to the fabric of the show. I would argue that the first two Simone’s felt more centered than any of the Black women do right now, and she was tied to the B story characters and a bland Tom Hardy.

You could argue that nobody on the show feels important right now, but they feel more dismissed than the rest of the disposable cast.

Me too.

I can’t blame the show for moving away from a potential Trina and Gio pairing. Her “fans” (air quotes bc I think they only support with terms and conditions that include NAC’s Spencer) continuously rejected every scene Gio and Trina had together saying he looked like a little boy next to her. Their tone only started to shift once Kai showed up.

    • His (adoptive) nieces.  Chelsea and Stephanie.  I think Abby was involved too, but I am not sure if they are related lol.
    • That was such a dark story. I never liked Swamp girl after that. And then the dating your cousin thing. I think wasn’t Max in a triangle with two of his cousins?
    • Thank you, @j swift.  I'm probably more sympathetic to Draper Scott than most audience members are -- even though I'm absolutely CRAZY about Ann Williams & her bizarre Margo Huntington character

The more I watch these episodes -- and I've watched several of them a zillion times, I'm ashamed to admit -- you realize there's a WHOLE lot of passive-aggressive hostility brewing inside Margo Huntington about Draper.  She wants to take April AWAY from him and recreate the childhood that she never got to experience with April, because of the adoption 25 years ago.  Draper has sense enough to realize how heartless and vindictive Margo really is about other people's lives and their feelings, but he bites his tongue rather than poison his wife's mind about how horrible her mother really is.  And I admire him for that.  He's a sweet boy.
    • Unfortunately, as the 90s wore on, Felicia started wearing as many gray and neutral tones as Giorgio Armani and Donna Karan could produce, and the shoulder pads deflated to a drop sleeve.
    • I think Dante is reacting how most parents would react.
    • 5-2   Lord... At least the week started off well...I think. I don't know where to start.   Oh, yes, I do. It was mostly background noise to me. There was nothing to the majority of the characters that were on. Meaning, it was mostly characters that I didn't care for or I've gotten accustomed to just FF-ing through. Or just zoning out. Even the possibility that Michael and Lauren might have a story was just meh simply because we have done this dance before and Lauren was coming across like Michael was working for Sonny on GH the mob.   The biggest thing I really took away from last week was that the new costumer designer has stepped up her game again. It didn't bother me at all, but I wish there was some drama with this fashion. I liked Claire's outfit, LOVE Nikki's. And I continue to like brighter colors on Nick though I hated those pants. And I could go on about the clothes misses like Billy in that short sleeeve, but I digress.   The only things that held my interest...   THE SICKENING OF COLE. As soon as he started to cough, I went uh oh. I'm happy to see he might be getting a story. And I guess it shows how much history I have with the character that I care. But still...ugh.   ALL THINGS AUDRA. I admit that I was taken aback to see Victor with her at Crimson Lights. When was the last time he was there? I want to say recently with Kyle/Claire, but otherwise I still found the scene taking me aback. But I like her being soft with Kyle who actually came across annoyingly flirty for someone that hates Audra. I actually can't wait for him to eat crow. And since Audra is now being used to drive a wedge between Kyle and Claire, I have to talk about...   SUMMER'S EXIT. Mmmm...mixed feelings. It don't seem half as bad as others appear to see it. Yes, if I didn't have the context, it still seem odd that her part in the Kyle/Claire drama was barely touched on. And she interacted with everyone I felt she should interact with. But in the overall context...I still didn't mind the exit. Though it was abrupt.    I did like hearing that Noah and Allie are still together. And don't get me started on the offscreen Mariah drama.
    • I'm sure old Reva/Josh fans saw the writing on the wall--and this was their pattern. They (or usually Josh) was so angry that they'd spend months yelling at each other, and then "boom", they were macking up on each other, regardless of who else they were entangled with. (This is the couple who slept together under HB's roof while Reva was married to him, after all.) "Always". *gag me*
    • I don't think we've seen the last of Erica Kane. That's something I will continue believing in.
    • You are the best!!!! That is a remarkable talent, to not just summarize, but contextualize Draper's dilemma!  It is delightful to be able to think of that situation in a new way. - Thank you

I was pondering Lee Godart's accent, because it was so dreamy.  It made me think he would've been perfectly cast as Victor Newman's brother on Y&R.  American's have a hard time distinguishing European accents.  And, good news, before I hit reply, I went and confirmed the actor is still alive.
    • Has anyone even told Gio that Sonny once shot Dante?
