Sisters Discussion Thread

Although I could see how Reed #1 that was in season 1 could morph/evolve into Reed #2 that came into play during season 2.

To be fair, when the switch happened you had barely known Reed #1 so it wasn't that jarring. It feels like a tradition to switch up barely recurring characters personalities once they get more storylines. The issue is that once Reed #2 had not only an established actress, she also had a solid personality from seasons 2-5. So when Reed #3 happened it was just jarring - her actions made no sense from what she was portrayed as earlier. It was never even properly explained what changed except she just kind of woke up one day and decided to be a spoiled brat again essentially.

This is all so interesting to read this thread. in the early 2000s, there were daily reruns of Sisters on Lifetime or Soapnet (or both). That is how I watched the entire series. I wasn't on any messageboards that discussed it, and didn't follow industry news, so I wasn't aware of anything behind-the-scenes at that time.

It was one of my favorite shows but I had nobody to discuss it with. I haven't seen it since, but I adored Sela Ward as Teddy, and never forgot her.

It's been over 20 years since I've seen the show, but I appreciate reading this thread. I remember the recasting of Reed was confusing, I loved Ashley Judd in the role.

The Cat/Reed cousin relationship in the final season seemed a complete rewrite since the two seemed chummy/close in seasons 2 to 4.

I agree with both these statements, lol.

It would've made more sense to say Reed returned home (with Halsey) after catching Kirby in bed with another woman. Naturally, Alex would want to help her daughter and granddaughter, but Reed is determined to make it on her own, taking the job at the Sweet Sixteen only after hitting the pavement gets her nowhere. In the meantime, you still could have a rivalry between Cat and Reed by setting up a triangle between them and Billy.
