Nov. 8, 2024: Stephanie Sloane for TVInsider interviews Ken Corday:
https://www.tvinsider.com/1160938/days-of-our-lives-future-peacock-changes-2025/
Regarding Carlvati, Corday notes, “I just felt it was time for a different look at the show, a different foundation for the show, and a different story push. Our previous head writer had a wonderful, long run, but change is a constant and sometimes change is called for and this was a case where it was clear to me it was.”

And yet he couldn't have it upon himself to fire the problematic co-executive producer? Sure. And he had a co-EP female in Lisa De Cazotte, but it feels like Corday likes playing the men's game.

Well, there would be repercussions for the scab writers, so if it's ever revealed, it won't be until they retire / leave the industry.

To be honest, the scabs weren't the worst. I sort of liked the whole night of chaos with Harris shot and the Horton house on fire. The episodes with the box were nice, even if it was understandably low stakes due to it essentially being a filler storyline but we got nice moments and nostalgia out of it. The dialogue writing was mostly quite trite, though.

This isn't rocket science on who wrote the show.

Jean Ford and Fran Myers are FICORE and didn't go anywhere during the strike

Sheri Anderson went FICORE during the 2023 strike and I will bet she will appear as a writer under Jean and Paula

Paula went fICOR in 2008 and got credit on Y&R for that period as a writer. And lo and behold after the 2023 strike she's been hired as co-head.

So it's a fairly easy guess that the strike writers included: Jean Ford, Paula Cwikly, Sheri Anderson, Fran Myers and we'll need to see other writers who show up under Jean and Paula.

With Ron out, it's likely Dan O'Connor and Katie Schock are out.  We know Dave Ryan lost his job to Dan O'Connor and Kent hired him as script writer at Y&R. Chris Dunn is out because he's now a break down writer at Beyond the Gates...

I suppose there might be something to come out of its being known but it is known that they are FiCore so it's not like old days.

I totally agree, they most likely wrote the strike. Corday has a history of hiring fi-core writers after writers strikes are done as well (re: Higley 08). Honestly I was watching more frequently during the strike, it was more the type of show I want to see overall with more focus on family and character. It wasn't the most exciting stories, but I think some of  that had to do with the BTS going on with the firing of the EP and scripts being written so far in advance.

I am really curious to see how the overall writing team looks. I was sad Chris Dunn left for BTG, as I feel his long history writing soaps and Days would have benefited the new team. I also feel like any Carlivati additions will probably be gone, I suspect Sonia Alarr will be disappearing anytime now. Jamey Giddens still seems to be there, Ryan Quan is probably there to. With the pool of former daytime writers a lot smaller then it was a decade ago, hopefully they will bring in some new blood. Freshness is needed at this point.

I just find it ironic that they've had some good PR for the past few years by winning the WGA award a couple of years in a row, and now that won't be possible.

Just as a FYI at the time it was widely stated that Sheri Anderson was on the team but not leading it.

I mean, yeah. She went fi core. What else would she write?

Ron was the one who suggested Haiduk. He said so in an SOD interview at the time. For cursing us with that horrid recast I will always bear a grudge against him.

What else? Her other show, GH. I've come to enjoy Stacy's Kristen & also to a lesser degree her Susan Banks, but she misses on Sister Mary Moira.

Giddens was definitely hired back.

About two years too late, but I accept his reasoning 😂

Maybe five years. Because I remember it starting to go to hell in 2019.

Kenny boy should not be proud of replacing a union worker who striked with two scabs.

It is now clear to me that Cwikly and Ford were the scab HWs. I will not watch their Days. I don’t support or condone scabbing. I condemn it.

I take comfort knowing their union considers fi core writers to be the scum of the earth. Their professional reputations are forever tainted.

But I’m not surprised. Ken did the same thing during the last strike but paid a hefty fine because of it. This time he waited until Ron’s contract expired so he couldn’t be accused of firing a returned striker.

Ron probably figured out who the scabs were and how Ken was using the strike as their “audition”. Once he figured they were running down his clock, he went all-in on Body and Soul.

Jason47 knows but he won't say.

I know a lot about the show that I don't reveal. It's hard to have sources for the past 25 years if you reveal all you know. Especially in regards to any strike writers!
