It sucks that DAYS was shut out, and that DAYS is associated with camp, as I think it does a disservice to some of its actors. Billy Flynn, Dan F, and AZ all have put in phenomenal work not just this past year, but for Flynn and Zucker, at multiple occasions in the past.

Well, that is a thing for DAYS! They have always had SOME actors who were doing superlative work. So, in a sense, this is ongoing. But, you are certainly correct that a disservice is done them because the style, the quality in general, the writing, the problems with the writing, etc. all conspire to cheat excelling actors out of any acclaim.

I'm thrilled as well!

DVD is a national treasure in my book.  He might need a little more assistance getting around these days, but there's still that twinkle in his eye and spring in his step.  AFAIC, he's one of the last of the breed of entertainers who exude talent, warmth and class.

(And no, it's not lost on me that even 98-year-old DVD looked to be in better health onstage than 61-year-old Frank Valentini.)

Things that I have been told about Frank by people who work for him. By Me.

1. He is as healthy as a horse.

2. He is naturally quite pale.

3. He suffers from stage fright.

4. He works himself so hard that by end of week, Friday show done, he is completely exhausted.

5. Last year, Emmys, he had Covid, but didn't know it till Monday morning.

There is no 6.

And I am not a Frank apologist. I post loudly & often about the buck stopping at his door & list the things I think he should be doing that he is not doing. I am as critical of him as almost anyone else.

Here's the thing. I could care less how odd Frank might seem at the mic. Brilliant people are often quite odd. I am not saying he is brilliant. What I want is for him to produce a better show. Then he can be as odd as he pleases. Just give us more edge, heart, pay-off, stakes, ..

Frank Valentini should let someone else on the team accept the award if he's gonna act so strange and can't speak. He's just asking for criticism by being so odd. And the people making excuses for him don't help him, either. He works so hard that he can't get excited on a Friday night. SMH. Some people will believe and repeat everything they hear no matter how ridiculous it sounds. I agree that 98 year old DVD has more life in him than Frank.

If he looks that bad producing such a shitty-ass show every week, imagine how he'd look if he worked so hard to produce a show that's actually watchable, lol?

You might not be too far from the truth, lol.

That's always been my number-one issue with Frank's work as EP on GH and OLTL: what is his style as a producer beyond bloated casts, sluggish storylines and obnoxious child "actors"?  What has he done for both shows that's been good yet uniquely him?

Absolutely. The Daytime Emmys can serve as a promotional event for each of the soaps as much as anything else...so it boggles me that each of the soaps didn't insist on having a clip package played throughout the night for Best Drama Series...I really miss the good old days when the show featured clip packages around various themes (couples, fashion, catfights) - they really add to the production quality of the show.

    • I found it to be a rather odd way to deal with a character departing for parts unknown.
    • Today reminded me as to why I’m a little disappointed in the name that the new Pope chose

Luckily, EJ and Johnny, and pretty much every other character saved today’s episode.  I didn’t expect Javi to be the one to save Sarah though, and I don’t mind it at all, because if it means that Javi is finally going to get his own identity/character, away from his douchy bf, I’m all for it. Javi’s scenes would’ve been a lot better had it not been for him. EJ and Johnny were the best part of today. Their conversation hit a lot of important beats and I’m so looking forward to seeing them play out. And now that EJ knows that Johnny is going to work for Xander, that opens up another dynamic to their storyline and to the Kiriakis family storylines as well. Tying them all together could be really good. There are so many story possibilities that can come out of this. And I thought Carson Boatman did a pretty good job again too.  I also liked that Johnny was there to comfort Chanel after everything that happened with Sarah. They’re so good together. But I do have mixed feelings about Chanel possibly forgiving Johnny so quickly. Hopefully, the question that she asked him at the end of today leads to more conflict for the two of them.  And yeah, still no changes in Alex’s character lol
    • Awesome, thanks so much for taking the time to grab this episode. I had a quick review of your rip because I was curious why it was 700MB and 30 minutes. The first 10 minutes of the episode is 3169 (opening credits at 5 minutes and again at 15 minutes). I thought we had the full HD version of ep.3170 on the YouTube channel, but it appears they added the wrong episode but labelled it 3170.
    • I guess, according to Mike Manning in the Michael Fairman chat, he was almost Derek

    • That's a name I haven't heard in a minute. Thanks!
    • Well, since I'm still up unexpected past my growing-into-it bedtime. lol.   I finally got to rewatch Monday's. I even rewatched Friday's to take it all in. Now that we got the reveal and hit the climax of the SilkPress Sheila storyline, now we get to watch the aftermath and/or turns that come with its climax. So far, so good. Friday left us with three cliffhangers. And what I found surprising was how I felt about them over a rewatch.    I know some of you all felt a way about the dialogue during Kat vs Eva. I remember liking it more the first time around and it was nice for them to have these scenes to establish more of a frenemy vibe for them going forward. That still held up. But I found myself agreeing with you all about that dialogue. lol. Still, it was nice to have both of their POVs.   Second up was Silk Press Sheila vs the Duprees. And I was happy to get a brief spat with Dani in there. But the rest standouts for me was Anita and Martin. Haters can hate and given the tail end of the episode, I will agree to a fault, but Brandon has impressed and he was on fire on Monday and had great subtle work on Friday. And that subtle work made it all the better. Like I believe I said when I was watching...BC has a much better grip on his character and seems to be realizing what his tics are so has started to be able to know when to turn it up and when to dial it down. And for the most part (emphasis on most), he got that. Meanwhile, TT was giving fierceness, and I was here for every minute of it. Her reading SilkPress. Her being quip about it. Her 'BE STILL.' Ooooo she had a chokehold on me as Anita gave what I was expecting her to SilkPress. WORTH THE WAIT. I also loved Vernon's CHOOSE SILENCE. I wonder though if SilkPress will figure out Martin's condition from her observing Anita and Vernon with him.   And speaking of worth it...Oooo YES Nicole vs Ted was worth totally worth it. Oooooo I knew DD would nail it, and it was all so well done. The fight between the part of Nicole who is a therapist vs Nicole as a woman who wants to express how she feels. And being so angry. And how there would be moments when it would shoot out of her. And how she would restrain herself. But how she felt she should not be restrain. Just the levels of processing and layers. And DD played it all so well. I do wish Maurice gave just a little bit more, but overall, I thought he did a good job even if it was just Ted coming across as a deadbeat and not at all redeemable. And Kat being there for her mother was so beautiful.   Minority, but I love the montage though yes, it did run a little long. Given how the Duprees like to bond (and also as I mentioned from my own very recent family experiences), it did not seem out of place to me.     That said...let's see how the aftermath worked in today's episode. Overall. Cuz RC can be hit or miss.
    • I wonder whose brilliant (

) idea it was to do an almost complete rip-off of the "who killed Tom King"-storyline. That's some quality style writing right there.....
