I really wonder how they'll handle Netflix's usual long breaks between seasons. That girl is going to grow up fast... makes me wonder if this wouldn't have been a better fit for HBO Max considering they're leaning into a more broadcast style of production model with The Pitt.

I know that there was a clash between Michael L and the other producer over the original LHOTP because one wanted the show to be a realistic portrait of pioneer life and less Hollywood oriented while Michael L wanted the show to not follow the books exactly.

I think the reboot could work just so long as people understand that it isn't a remake of the original show.. but another adaptation of the books.

Also, i wonder if each season will be based on each book so if Netflix has long breaks between seasons.. I think that wouldn't effect things if season 2 takes place longer into the future.

I've been on recent rewatch of the original show, and I realize that after the 3rd season... MG loses her cuteness while Melissa Sue Anderson and Allison Angrim improve acting wise and their episodes are more interesting then the ones focused on Laura.

IMO, Laura remains an interesting "main" character through the first three seasons and then an interesting part of the ensemble for the next 2-3 seasons. I can't stand her once she and Almanzo get married, and I generally like Almanzo.

One of the things I realized once I decided to start filling in the gaps and watching episodes I'd never seen before (or hadn't seen in 20+ years) is that Nellie gets pushed aside way in advance of her actually leaving the show. Her going after Almanzo at the start of S6 is her last real "bad girl" story, then every time we check in on her, she's going through another major life event. She meets and marries Percival in the same two-parter, then we find out she's pregnant and she gives birth in the same episode, and they announce plans to leave Walnut Grove and are gone in the same episode. Then she pops back up in season 9, and she and Laura are bestest friends. I wish we'd seen more of the progression of their relationship and Nellie's maturation.
