New Details Announced (TL; DR) - September 19, 2024:

  • "The Gates" is now called "Beyond The Gates."
  • Key Art/Logo for "Beyond The Gates" released.
  • Soap alums Tamara Tunie ("As The World Turns"), Daphnee Duplaix ("One Life to Live," "Passions") and Karla Mosley are the first actors officially cast by the show.
  • "Beyond The Gates" is a one-hour daytime drama.
  • The series is set to premiere in early 2025. Previously, CBS announced it would debut in January 2025.
  • CBS has formally announced the series will begin production later this fall in Atlanta; confirming the film location (city), but not studio.
  • Robert Guza Jr. ("General Hospital," "Sunset Beach") and Julie Carruthers ("All My Children," "Port Charles") are officially confirmed as executive producers, joining a team led by creator, showrunner, and executive producer Michele Val Jean, and fellow executive producers Sheila Ducksworth, Leon Russell, Derrick Johnson and Kimberly Doebereiner.
  • Anna Saalfeld is also a new addition to the executive producer team, having never been previously announced. This makes it eight executive producers behind "Beyond The Gates," the most for a daytime drama series ever.
  • P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble, remains on board as a partner on the series which is being developed and produced by the CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, led by Ducksworth.
  • An official synopsis has been released for "Beyond The Gates."

Note: "BTG" will be the official acronym used for "Beyond The Gates" on the SON Community. Posts/threads created should always start with "BTG:" going forward.

For reference, the current soap acronyms are "B&B" (The Bold and the Beautiful), "DAYS" (Days of our Lives"), "GH" (General Hospital") and "Y&R" (The Young and the Restless). "ALL" is for all shows, while "AMC" is for All My Children.

Also, #BeyondTheGates is the official hashtag to be used on social media, per CBS.

Facebook and Instagram pages have been created, but are not active. Will share the link when they are officially available.

I mean, some random, no-name blogger isn't the best of sources. A lot of people are taking what Soaps in Depth posted as them confirming his casting, when it didn't do that.

RA also hinted at going to a "bigger network" so I think it tracks. We'll have to see

But it's all speculative right now, and everyone is taking Depth's article as fact. That the one you linked stated he told them he was going, but that's entirely untrue.

@Liberty City I also noticed how several sources are citing the speculation in the SID article as confirmation. If Real Andrews is cast (and he probably is), I am hoping its for the role of Joseph, the ex-husband of Dani, but he is probably more likely Anita's husband Patrick.

There are several, less-known websites citing the In Depth article as confirmation, but he never spoke to them. Their article even states it's from his Instagram and that he signed an NDA. Realistically, he'd be "Patrick" over "Joseph".

Complete speculation here, but does anyone think the reason Robert Gossett (Marshall) is leaving GH is because he has been cast on BTG?

Please NO!

Sometime ago, I posted the possibility that they may not go full tilt in promotion until after the election. Consider it- the attention of the majority of the target audience will likely be consumed with the campaign of VP Harris through Election Day. Would they really want to try to compete with that?

I don't think it would be wise to leave the heavy promotion so late. At best it would have a couple of weeks after the election and I don't think that would be enough to get all the attention and interest it would need. They really need to start to ramp up the promotion soon. It's nice to hear casting news but unless there are any A listers waiting in the wings, casting news is largely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

TBH CBS hasn't done themselves any favours by their scheduling. Ideally BTG should have premiered in September because as you said any major news or attention is going to be lost most likely.

Oh I’m in the same boat, but I was just catching up on GH and reading this thread and got to thinking that the timing is suspect….

Nah. I think it's just coincidental.

All but assuring Emmy gold for BTG. ;) We know the academy loves him!

I am a bit surprised that they didn't dribble out casting announcements after the huge Tamara Tunie news, to keep up the momentum.

I don't lean heavily towards this being a reputable source for confirmation. That being said, I'm feeling like it's noticeably possible just by the timing of it. The actor's real life age helps with the possibility of him being cast as the senator patriarch Patrick.

I noticed the tweet has since been deleted but not before a few outlets and some of Real’s fans and former costars could spread the news. 🤦🏾‍♂️ If people are going to play the scooper game they’ve gotta do a bit more fact checking before outright stating things. Hopefully since writers were clearly given a green light to share their involvement with the show Real doesn’t find himself in any NDA trouble. He can be an odd duck but I like the idea of his casting.
