It's a 1 for me...live at 2pm...via Paramount+!! Can't wait.

You're in a good company! (a large group!) #1 and #2 are winning by huge margins.

I'll be watching GH at 2 & so will watch BTG at 3.

One thing about the Duprees... they’re gonna serve LOOKS. 😌

I hope over the next month CBS shows a range of promos so that potential viewers aren't sick of the show before it begins and they can highlight different aspects to appeal to a variety of audiences.

Maybe some character profiles.

Even something like the IG post above. 'The women of BTG will be serving looks!'

Or 'Meet the men of BTG'

Promos highlighting some of the show's other characters would be nice, and even beneficial. So far, only the Duprees, with Dani seething towards her ex-husband more than once.

Beyond the commercials, I'm interested in what type of press tour CBS will give the show in February. Will some of the actors appear on CBS Mornings orThe Late Show With Stephen Colbert? What about Black-owned media properties like Essence?

There really is no traditional soap press anymore either.

I'm not sure if they'll do any of the late night shows, but I do see them doing the talk show circuit (Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Hudson, etc.). CBS Mornings is a must and since they've already been doing press days, that typically would be local news outlets and online outlets like TV Line. We also know The NAACP Awards will be featuring the show a couple days before it premieres and Errol just posted about a primetime special on CBS that will feature the show the monday before it premieres.

The PR company they hired specializes in Black media so we should get some press there as well. I imagine they'll stick to the Duprees for most of the promo since they're the most recognizable faces.

The "core four" makes the most sense to focus on as you said. Though I kind of hope that they start underscoring a bit that this is first and foremost a soap and not a black soap, just so that they can maximise the amount of viewers. I think subtly putting in a scene with the non-black couple in the latest promo was a smart move. The focus is still on the Duprees (more specifically on Karla), but sort of gives it a bit of a wider net.

The term "core four" slightly gives me the side eye. That term was also used heavily years ago on GH when describing certain characters who were used to hog the show while everyone else stood in the background or were used as props. I hope that doesn't happen here. But then the unnerving twist is that alumni who were once involved with GH are now working on BTG. We'll see.

Well, that's mostly on me for trying to describe where the focus will inevitably be in the early days - trying to give everyone an equal focus from day one would be a mistake because we can only process so much information. Putting the focus on a small group of people and then build it out from there is a good strategy because it gives people recognizeable faces to begin with and gives other characters a chance to grow / room for experimentation what works and what doesn't. I think Val Jean recognizes that, though hopefully she also realises that eventually she needs to expand to give others a chance to shine so it doesn't become what modern B&B is.

FWIW, I think the term "core four" is not only apt as a descriptor but elegant. And, it brings up absolutely zero negative connotations. If you ask me, you are more than capable of slinging words with the best.

Focusing on the "core four" right now really isn't what I was alluding to. I meant that I hope they aren't used so much AFTER the show debuts that we almost don't get to know the other characters. Again, GH alumni who we now have on BTG were guilty of this.

It does, and that very much seems to be what CBS Studios is doing: focusing on their "core four," a.k.a. the Duprees, with others sprinkled in. It's very clear this is what's going on. And I'm okay with it. There is a reason the castings of Daphnée Duplaix, Karla Mosley & Tamara Tunie were announced first.

Well, NuTime Media is in-charge of handling the ads sold during Beyond the Gates (back when it was The Gates). So I would imagine there might be some positive pull in that way, as well. We know Entertainment Tonight will have a segment with [some] of the non-"core four" actors, so that's to-come, as well.

It's clear that a lot of care went into casting those roles and it makes sense. Make a strong core to carry the show in it's infancy, while have others act more like moving chess pieces and let things fall where they may. Inevitably, there'll be some stand outs among the other cast members and others that really won't be able to connect in a wider sense.

My plan would be to mainly focus on the "core four" with nationwide media coverage, with a bit of others sprinkled in. I'd then utilise local media and news outlets - especially in the rust belt - for the white cast members. Yes, it's cynical but that's a big audience that still watches linear television (see the success of Yellowstone and Taylor Sheridan), but might need an extra push to check it out. That way it wouldn't take the shine from what Val Jean and the show is trying to do, but at the same time maximise the appeal and not just pigeonhole the show as the "black soap opera". A bit like having your cake and eating it too, if you will.
