Members veu100v
do you think in this new show there will be a super couple? based on what I read on character description there isn't at the moment a super couple, but time will tell I'd like to see a new powerful super couple à la Eden/Cruz from Santa Barbara or a great couple à la Sloane/Trey on Capitol , with great political schemes, which seems to be perfect due to the fact Beyond the Gates is set in Washington DC area. What do you think?

Members Liberty City
Very, very exciting! One LatinX, one White and one Hispanic/Latino. We love the diversity. And, actually, Luis was previously-known to us, via Soap Hub's "reveal".
Members Manny
Didnt they change the last name Jackson into Dupree? Or did I mix it up? Here they mention Jackson again.
Members Liberty City
Michael Maloney probably did not update the description beyond changing from The Gates to Beyond the Gates, as the original synopsis was for the Jacksons. Poor editing on his behalf.

Members Joseph
I am reading this thread now and beginning to find the idea of this new soap exciting! But I admit I'm afraid to get too hopeful!
Members Khan
I think the thing to remember is that every soap goes through growing pains and BTG probably won't be any exception. Like I've said before, unless this show does something really heinous at the start and portrays African-Americans in the worst possible light - which I doubt could happen, given the parties involved - I'll cut the show some slack as it works out the kinks.
Members BetterForgotten
Yeah, most new soaps need at least 3-6 months, or hell, even a full year (or more) to really "find" themselves. Some never do (Loving), or some only do when a steady hand comes in, but ultimately its too late (like Generations when Jorn Winther came in to Executive Produce Sally Sussman Morina's lackluster material).
Members vanguard
But I would say that Generations is probably the best example as to why BTG must produce interest sooner rather than later. Generations was very poorly written from the start so by the time it found a bit of footing, it was way too late. This is not what needs to happen to BTG.
Members Chris B
When I read this my mind immediately went to Passions wasting money on a London remote shoot for that revolting Princess Diana storyline. I agree with you that unless it's really awful I will be forgiving. I do hope that it starts with some momentum though. They'll need to make adjustments along the way, but it doesn't look like they're filming too far in advance so that will be easy. Audiences have a short attention span these days so the first few weeks do need to highlight what they do well.
Members Joseph
The Trick for Any Soap seems to Start with A Big Party were Most of the important Characters are introduced and the motivation of some is shown. I know it's cliché but I do like it
Members Liberty City
Well, no offense, but Michele Val Jean is a much stronger soap presence than Sally Sussman ever has been. And considering Val Jean is creator, one of the EPs and HW of this soap, I'd wager she is going to do well. Plus, knowing how Generations was in its debut and the descriptions we've received concerning Beyond the Gates, I already wager the latter will fair better in the long-run.
Members vanguard
You do understand that Miss Val Jean had a hand in Generations as a writer?
