Less than a month since NBCUniversal announced that Xfinity subscribers would have to start paying for Peacock after receiving the Premium package for free since the streaming service’s launch in 2020, comes word that the platform’s monthly and annual price plans are going up, effective immediately for new subscribers and starting on or after August 17 for existing users.

The cost for a Peacock Premium subscription will now cost $5.99/mo vs. $4.99/mo previously. Similarly, an annual subscription will now cost $59.99/year vs. $49.99/year previously. Additionally, the Premium Plus subscription goes up to $11.99 a month, a bump of $2.00 from the previous $9.99/mo. A yearly plan also jumps up, costing $20.00 more annually ($119.99/year vs. $99.99/year). Premium Plus Add-On pricing goes up $1.00 (from $5.00 to $6.00).

The Premium subscription, which remains the most popular offering, will continue to provide customers access to stream 80,000+ hours of the best in TV, movies, and sports, along with New & Hit Shows, Films & Originals, LIVE Sports & Events, Current NBC & Bravo Shows and 50+ Always-On Channels. Meanwhile, the Premium Plus package will provide everything in Premium but also includes No Ads (Limited Exclusions*), Download & Watch Select Titles Offline and access to Your Local NBC Channel LIVE, 24/7.

In an email sent to current subscribers, Peacock notes, “As a current subscriber, you’ll receive one additional month at the current price. The new pricing will be effective on your next billing date on or after August 17, 2023.”

For those who are currently receiving Peacock on an offer, such as the $1.99/mo or $19.99/annual subscription options provided in September 2022 when “Days of our Lives” became a Peacock exclusive series or when NBCUniversal programming from brands such as NBC, Bravo, USA Network, et al. became available as next day offerings after the Hulu deal expired, don’t fret: “Your promotional pricing will continue through the end of the promotional period.” However, “if you are on an offer and upgraded to Premium Plus for $5/mo., your price for the Premium Plus Add-On will increase to $6/mo., effective on your next billing date on or after August 17.

As of the first quarter of 2023, Peacock had approximately 22 million subscribers, placing it well behind rivals Disney+, Paramount+, Max (formerly HBO Max) and Hulu. Updated subscriber numbers will be reported later this year, the first which will show how many subscribers the service may have lost since dropping Xfinity subscribers who received access at no extra cost.

More reason to cancel Peacock with the price increase. I'm going to watch the British Open this weekend and then cancel my subscription. I just can't  stomach Days of our Lives anymore.

My special pricing was a Black Friday promotional deal, and it runs for a year, so I will end it leading up to that time. Other than a few programs, I really don’t watch that often. I find myself watching Pluto TV more and more often these days, knowing that they stream episodes of Frasier.

It isn't that much of an increase so I'll keep it.  I watch Bravo and Hallmark content.. plus they have a decent horror movie selection.   It's still cheaper then Disney+ or Netflix... which I canceled.

Still... I watch Tubi for a lot of older movies and tv shows (like Facts of Life, Family, Eight is Enough, etc).

Another Peacock price increase: July 2024

https://deadline.com/2024/04/peacock-raising-prices-streaming-nbcuniversal-1235898599/

Summer 2024:
NBCUniversal is hiking the price of Peacock for the second time in two years, tacking $2 onto the cost of the streaming service this summer, around the time of the Paris Olympics.

Beginning in July 2024, the monthly price for Peacock Premium will increase to $7.99.

Premium Plus, which offers limited advertising, download capability and live local programming, will now be $13.99.

Annual plans will go up to $79.99 for Premium and $139.99 for Premium Plus.

The change will take effect starting July 18, 2024 for new customers, and for existing subscribers at their next billing date on or after August 17, 2024.

    • Yes!!! Mona feels  like one of my aunts, love the way she carries herself. Loved seeing Eva pop-up at the gambling place.  Monday was all around good soap. Can't remember the last time an entire episode held my interest.  Loving the fallout and reverberations from Ted and Shea-Butter Sheila's affair

. Tricia Mann Grant is 90s early 2000s quality FINE. As nice as it would've been to see Anita embrace Eva, I'm glad she didn't because we can squeeze a lot more years of conflict out of Eva, Leslie and the Duprees.   Lauren & Sheila, Viki & Dorian, Katherine & Jill all gave us good conflict for decades. Hopefully this follows suit. I understand the concern. Right now there's an issue of quality of black representation on shows more so than quantity of black shows. I'd like to see more predominantly black sci-fi, legal, political, supernatural or medical dramas over the typical who is sleeping with who. However, this is a soap, and this is what happens on soaps. White soap characters do these things all the time, but have the luxury of being seen as individuals, not representations of their entire race. Husbands/fathers like Todd Manning, Victor Newman and Asa Buchanan cheat, lie and swindle all the time but aren't seen as a commentary on white men. Black characters like Ted and New Dollar Bill should be able to do the same.

    • Even under the new writers, Jamey episodes are the shortest and the weakest A lot of people were unnecessarily clowny and bitchy today. There was a lot of fluff and filler too. And the dialogue was a little… ehhh as well. But welcome back, Kevin! It’s been a long time lol his return still seems really random but I don’t mind it. Philip’s actions make sense to me based on everything that’s happened to him lately and it could possibly set up more tension between him and Xander/Alex. And I wouldn’t mind seeing him and Kevin team up. I thought the actor did a good job too. Too bad that they couldn’t get Robert Benvenisti back though. I didn’t realize it in 2001 but he was hot

And, we got the word that Arianna wants to come home. I’m looking forward to that, and seeing her relationships with Gabi, Marlena, etc. on display and I hope that

As for Rachel’s birthday party… was Days hinting at something that we’ve been speculating about since EJ was shot?

    • Portugal qualifying was the only shocker. I'm really happy for Iceland. IMO, the automatic finalists – Spain, Switzerland and Italy – had the best performances. I love the studio version of Azerbaijan, but on stage, it was a disaster.
