James Hyde, Sam Bennett, Passions, PSNS, #Passions, #PSNS, Jeremy Stark, The Young and the Restless, Young and Restless, Young & Restless, Y&R, #YR, #YoungandRestless, #TheYoungandtheRestless

It’s been 14 years since “Passions” concluded its run, and actor James Hyde (ex-Sam Bennett) is finally heading back to daytime TV. He’s been cast in the recurring role of Jeremy Stark on “The Young and the Restless” and will first air over multiple episodes beginning Friday, October 21.

Hyde’s character is said to have shared a connection with Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) during her time away from Genoa City, which will hopefully help fill in the gaps both Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) are seeking to get the goods on their nemesis/rival.

Following the 2008 finale of “Passions,” Hyde has kept himself busy with guest appearances in several notable primetime shows such as “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” and the TV series iteration of “Rush Hour.” He more recently starred in the Netflix Mexican drama “Monarca,” which deals with a family’s tequila empire threatened by corruption and deadly secrets. Hyde played Martin Ross, the husband of Ana Mária Carranza Dávila (Irene Azuela), the only daughter of the powerful family. The series was canceled after just two seasons.

Hyde has starred in two TV movies this year alone, including “Prisoner of Love” and “Love Under the Lemon Tree.” The former features his “Passions” co-star Lindsay Hartley (ex-Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald), who also directed the movie.

In addition to his TV movies and “Y&R,” Hyde can also be seen playing a recurring role in the upcoming third season of the Telemundo series, “La Reina del Sur,” which premieres Tuesday, October 18, on the Spanish language network. The show stars Mexican superstar Kate del Castillo as she reprises her iconic role as Teresa Mendoza and takes place four years after U.S. authorities convicted Teresa for the murders of three Drug Enforcement Agents. Separated from her beloved daughter Sofia (Isabella Sierra), Teresa lives behind bars in a maximum-security prison, stripped of all freedoms. Devising a highly sophisticated escape plan, Teresa’s old friends Oleg (Antonio Gil) and Jonathan (Tiago Correa) daringly extract her from prison to take her to Mexico, meeting President Epifanio Vargas (Humberto Zurita). In a world motivated by alliances and secret deals, Teresa agrees to embark on her most dangerous mission yet, taking her throughout Latin America with the urgent hope that she can end her fugitive’s life and reunite with Sofia at last.

For five seasons, USA Network produced an English-language iteration entitled “Queen of the South,” which remains a massive acquired property for streaming service Netflix.

Wow! I've always liked him on Passions. I'll have to check him out on the Spanish soap too. Susan Walters is one lucky lady from Trevor St John to James Hyde.

Random…but I think he would have been more age appropriate as Tucker!

I miss Kim Ulrich the most out of all the Passions alums and wish she’d get at least a short term role on one of the soaps.

Lord, he can't act.

I have to disagree! He gave it all with the the mess that was Passions. He has acted well on his other stuff too. They just need to give him the right material

I thought I remembered him playing Neal somebody on AW so I looked him up. Yes, in 1997 he played Neil Johanssen on AW. I believe he did a fine job & he's very good looking.

The picture I was given to use for the article does NOT do him justice.

This is who I hope to see on my screen later this month:

Not familiar with his work but he does look more suited to Tucker or even an Ashland recast, if that character was killed off because Robert Newman didn't want to stay.

Random casting lol I hadn’t thought about this guy in years, probably since Passions ended. He looks good for his age though interesting to see he’s had a good bit of acting work since that show ended.

I recall she was on an episode of the Rookie a few years back but I’m she hasn’t done a guest stint on daytime as well. She was a very prolific actress on the 90’s doing guest roles all over but her career definitely cooled down after Passions ended.

LOL  @YRfan23too bad Dana Sparks isn’t still on as Chelsea’s doctor. (Lord Sparks was terrible during her Falcon Creat run that Irecently relived on Amazon Prime)
