Watching these Sheila/Taylor scenes and realizing their whole arc within the current story probably wouldn't have happened if Hunter Tylo had returned as Taylor.  Which probably would have meant we'd be watching a completely different story altogether.

I am still waiting for a fakeout a la DAYS Melaswen.

That said...those scenes were crazy!!!! But again...SHEILA.

Happy that if anyone found them, it was Deacon. And it says a lot about him that he was able to move past his issues with Ridge and call to let him know.

And wow at Sheila keeping it together when Deacon found her.

If anything bugged me, it was that the Carter story really and truly has upped and vanished. I would rather had that as a B plot while the Sheila drama was going down instead of Ridge, Taylor, and Thomas in between scenes just talking about Steffy and memories with no flashbacks.

When did Paris and Zende get couple-y again? Paris’s reaction to Finn’s death could barely be more casual lol. I don’t blame DW but this is what happens when scenes are only written to convey information and not emotion.

I guess it’s good that they’ve finally really acknowledging Finn died aside from the Sheila/Li stuff.

Yeeeeeah no to Liam/Steffy again. I know he's the father of her kids, and yet...why is he there?

I am HERE for Sheila vs Li. I could watched more of that. And for once, it's Sheila against someone that doesn't know (or does she?) Sheila's rap sheet.

I decided the few minutes that I've seen here or there (the other day), I outgrew soaps.  I can't suspend belief that much and I think that's what it is.  I outgrew it, or I've seen it all so it's all stupid now.  They'll spend weeks and months wondering who could have done such a thing.  Or weeks with Steffy holding complete conversations and then falling off into a mumble when the ask her 'who did it'.  SHHHH everyoone.....be vewwy quiet!  She's twying to tell us something!  While Sheila looks on.  Then Steffy will eeek out...."sheeeeeeelaaaaa".    And then someone will say something even more stupid "oh my GOD.  She wants SHEILA!  Oh Steffy thank GOD!  Yes, Sheila is RIGHT HERE!"   "Sheila, come hold Steffy's HAND, she needs to SEE YOU.  Oh honey, thank God.

Gag.  Yawn.  I have outgrown this kind of drivel.  The great news from what I read though, is that ratings went up a little - so all the Sheila fans can look forward to her eating the show for the next couple of years with all kinds of stupid silly plots.  I've just seen it all and it's 30 years ago.  I do need to look up and see when that Brooke episode is supposed to be - I think several of the former men are supposed to be back for something.  I'll tune in for that.

I also feel a bit as you do. I've wondered is it because the writing has gotten so bad on soaps, are production values so low that it just takes away from the pleasure of watching, is the genre as a whole having an identity crisis, is it me? Even back in 2011 after a few years of not watching soaps, I was able to get hooked on BB for a short while and still found it entertaining albeit not as before when I was an avid soap watcher.

I watched the episode with Sheila jumping and in fact I've had soaps on in the background since the pandemic brought me back because of the classic episodes. Even still nothing remotely interesting happens to draw me back in or to care enough to know what's actually going on.

The jump, the drama surrounding it, was just one major who cares. It's been done and a lot better before.

    • Yes, they did.  I still have them.  I think there were three.  AMC and GH as well.
    • Ah okay, thats what I thought. I was hoping I missed the announcement somewhere. Thanks for the clarification.
    • A new day in Salem… and a new day for Days.  I like the way everybody found out and absorbed the news about John’s death, and how they all eventually found their way to Marlena’s to offer their condolences. I’m not particularly sure why they waited until the next day to tell everybody but I don’t really mind it.  We finally got Roman’s perspective! His scenes with Kayla were one of the best parts of today. I’m glad that Roman is thankful for everything that John did for his kids. I agree with posters who said that he should’ve had a scene like this with John, but I’m happy we got this at least.  Julie was used very well today too. She’s definitely the best person for Marlena to have scenes with at the moment. Hopefully, Julie continues to be there for her. And yes, I totally agree with Marlena and Belle sending EJ away when he came to the apartment. I’m curious to see what’s going to happen to his and Belle’s relationship in the aftermath of all this. And, while I enjoyed most of Brady and Kristen’s scenes, I still think the ship has sailed for them. Hopefully, the aftermath of John’s death causes Brady to finally end this thing with her once and for all.  And, I see a lot of people were wearing some kind of shade of purple today.

    • Wow, I love that current and former actors are participating in this. I barely recognize Staci Greason! She looks fine, just very different. But I will be happy to hear anecdotes from her. I shipped RoJohn and Isabella hard back in the day, and I sobbed buckets in my dorm room at college when Izzy B passed. Honestly, I'm interested in everyone's stories. Drake seemed like he was well loved among the cast.
    • When she first appeared, I was sure she was setting Tyrell up for a prank. She was too much of a manic pixie dream girl- I wasn't surprised Tyrell also became suspicious. Now I'm not so sure. If Jessica genuinely likes Tyrell, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have started her out as a bully, then we see her gradually catch feelings for Tyrell.  The McBrides are definitely the "C" family of BTG. They always get last priority. There have been a few times where the Doug/Vanessa/Joey characters reference off screen conversations which seem too important to not show us. Like when Doug thanked Joey for giving him extra time to pay off the loan. When did that happen? Or when we abruptly moved from Vanessa/Joey at Uptown to Vanessa/Doug in the hotel room. The McBrides don't even have their own set - even though Vanessa is a realtor. It's a shame because I am a fan of the characters and actors.

I am also adjusting to KR as Ted but I feel that AM and MJ had way more chemistry as father and daughter than AM and KR. We saw Eva dream of having a real relationship with MJ's version of Ted for months so it's a bit of a bummer not to have that payoff with the original actor except for those scenes in MJ's last episode.  Something I noticed about Eva today is how she takes genuine delight in being a schemer. As badly as she wants to be a Richardson, she still has so much of her mom in her. It was jarring seeing her earnestly promise to steer clear of Leslie in her scene with Ted, then immediately switch attitudes when her mom showed up.  I'm very surprised with how quickly the accident story has been moving along. I was sure that it would be months if not years before people figured out it was Leslie on the motorcycle, not to mention responsible for the potassium overdose. I'm looking forward to seeing how MVJ and Guza avoid writing Leslie into a corner.  Finally, I have been loving the Articulettes story. Bonita Brisker was just the right amount of OTT - remember Sharon is supposed to be even more angry than Tracy is. If Sharon didn't come in swinging, people would say she fell flat. The way Sharon and Tracy describe the breakup is so Supremes-meet-Original Recipe Destiny's Child. I get the sense that MVJ is re-writing the Return to Love Tour as a roman a clef, and I love it. I'm looking forward to finding out what the secret they share is. If Dante Green is as shady as Berry Gordy was, it's something dark. If/when they go through with the reunion, I expect Dante to show up and claim to own the Articulettes trademark in a Lou Pearlman-esque twist.
    • Other than hanging out with Liz, all of Lucky's stories have been stalled out or dropped; the relationship with his son; his wanderlust. He hasn't been involved in any of the action/adventure or con artist stuff. I don't think he's even had a scene with Sidwell since the latter came to town. He's a real after thought. I doubt he's long for the show.
