Listen, the show pairing characters that should really not be together is an age-old tradition. Christine/Michael was considerably viler.

BUT at least SC and MM had really fantastic chemistry as Sharon and Adam. A lot of people still felt strongly against it but it at least made sense based on the chemistry that they went there

What could they possibly have seen in Rey/Chelsea that would make it make sense for them to character-assassinate Rey to pair them together? There is nothing. No interesting story potential, no chemistry, nothing.

I think the show should cut there losses with Rey and Chelsea and rid Genoa City of both of them. Along with Kevin, Chloe, and Michael. Keep Lauren though. As I've posted before, I'd love for a Jack/Lauren pairing to stir things up.  This, in my opinion, would be a decent start of cleaning up the show. Though many others could go as well. Chance, Abby, Faith, Moses, Ashland. If the show needs to save money (and show doesn't?), that's 10 characters right there. Billy could kill Ashland and go away. That would make 11 (and no more damn podcasts!).

As I said, I am not talking about the merits of the story, simply making a cold-eye point about why writers write what they write.
I am not comparing which story is more or less stupid on-screen.
I am saying I understood WHY the writers chanced it with Shadam because of the chemistry and I don't understand what they think Chelsea/Rey is bringing to the table.
What's the potential payoff there? There is not even chemistry. So... why?

Because Josh NEEDS the redundant Chelsea character, even though no one else does. And  I do like Melissa Claire Egan. The point of Chelsea went out the window years ago.

Chelsea and Rey are dull AF.  Neither adds anything more to the show. Shipping Chelsea to work with or against the Forresters on B&B would be a good way to keep MCE in the "family".  Hell, she could go there and trash talk Sally.

Chelsea's scenes with boring  Rey remind me of the years of Hope and boring ass Rafe on DOOL.

I’m guessing they want to play up the Chelsea/Sharon rivalry more than anything, as they’ve really blanked on a decent story for SC since the cancer, but also they have zero idea of what to do with JV (one of the few male options in her age group) or MCE (whom JG loves). I think she’s talented but Chelsea has never really worked for me. If he really wants to keep her, why not try her with Nate, where there’s more chemistry?

    • The way this show handled Nikolas' shooting Hayden, Austin's murder, the long slow delay to getting rid of Cyrus, etc. we're likely to have it revealed in a year when Nina is 3 weeks away from leaving and has had minimal airtime.
    • Interesting. I love my Roku.  No, I don't know. Who? I mean Disney def does. I would think a number of parties have stocks.
    • Is he still spamming demands that they hire the campy chick from The Haves and Have Nots? Or whichever show it was. I don't think it's an either/or. I happen to think Dana, Dani, Eva, Nicole, Kat, etc. are all great. Certain folks aren't going to be some posters' favorites and that's fair enough. But I would argue most of those characters above (and several others) have caught on with a lot of the online audience. I've even warmed up to Martin!
    • We get it, you don't like this show or the actors. You've said that over and over again, Mr. Vanguard America/VDARE.
    • Lol at the WSB hot guy asking Joss if she was okay with betraying her friends.  Of course she is! Chase coming in hot at Dante was a choice. It's also quite hypocritical since Chase is lying to him about Dante's own child and making Lulu the bad guy.  Talk to the grown woman yourself Chase.  Don't make Dante do it. Lulu and Laura had some great scenes. The Rocco/Danny party is obvious an anvil for something happening and probably the Gio secret coming out. The Willow/Drew/Nina scenes were kind of anti-climatic?  I get why Nina chose this path as the way to get rid of Drew, but will anyone ever find out Drew was sleeping with Nina?
    • I was reading the NYT article on Roku's purchase of FrndlyTV. As anyone who has read my posting knows, I think re-airing old soaps is an imprudent idea. However, I will admit that if large media companies are looking for more streaming content.  And, if advances in AI continue to make the digitization process faster and cheaper.  Those of you who want the owners of the IP to release anything in their vaults may have reason to be hopeful.  Because the makers of TV's want to get into streaming in order to encourage young people to get back in the habit of updating their TV devices every few years.  And, Roku's plan is market exclusive content, that you have to buy a Roku device to view.  And you-know-who has a ton of content to sell.
    • This was  the messiest hour of television I’ve seen since Kenya Moore asked “who is this hoe?”
    • details of the current Health Secretary RFK Jr's insane beliefs - Doesn't believe that germs cause illness; suggests HIV doesn't cause AIDS; suggests antidepressants are behind mass shootings; believes that vaccines are harmful; suggests chemicals in water are changing children's gender identities... and is quick to promote supplements to prevent and treat diseases, such as recently recommending vitamin A for measles and falsely claiming children who die from the viral infection are malnourished. https://arstechnica.com/health/2025/04/rfk-jr-s-anti-vaccine-stance-is-rooted-in-a-disbelief-in-germ-theory/

I missed the reference at the time, but those DAYS writers really like jokey character names.
