I really don't understand these one-or-two episode temps.

I realize soap filming is a well-oiled machine but if someone has to be out for a couple of days for an illness or whatever, it seems it wouldn't be that hard to reschedule a handful of scenes to film a bit later that week, no? Is it really that time-sensitive?

Depends on a lot of different elements. Every actor has different guarantees and if recurring roles are included you have to go by their openings

From what I've come to understand: some soaps tape out-of-order or tape mass-scenes that get pieced into an episode. So Marcus Coloma must not have been available for the required days.
