I have few soapy works I've written, but I've lost my urge to write as of late. I really need to force myself to write at least an hour each day.

Exactly this. I’m making YouTube videos, and getting bogged down in other stuff, but I plan to knuckle down properly and add to my short story and increase my output every day.

Okay...i'm going to be shameless and plug my novel...

Chick Lit Cafe says, "Pressing Matters, by Bruce A. Fleming, is an exciting whodunit that will keep you guessing to the last pages."

Pressing Matters is the first in my series set in the fictional Milliken Mills, Maine. It follows the powerful Nolan family and their newspaper publishing empire. They battle the changing times and each other.

I started writing this around 2001 because I missed Melrose Place. I created it with MP and Dallas in mind. I often refer to the series as "my Dallas in a book." I initially self-published four volumes through Amazon's Createspace but then wasn't happy with the way things were going so I regrouped. I'm now relaunching through a different publishing venue in Maine. Pressing Matters is the first book. The second is slated for January. I have two others fully written, a fifth book half-done with an ending in mind, and a sixth book I have in my head as a "spinoff" to a different town for three of the characters.

It's extremely soapy. I can't help it. I've grown up watching soaps and just love the genre.

I hope maybe some of you will give it a try.

I guess this is as good a time as any to say that, a few months ago I started working on a reboot/continuation of the soap that I wrote when I was younger.

It's a continuation in that for the most part, I'm picking up where I left off but a reboot in the fact that everything I've written before didn't happen. Basically, this is a different timeline.

I have some episodes written, but I think they still need some work and other revisions.

I just saw this thread. This is a cool thread. 🙂 I haven't written my own soap though I think it's cool that a lot of you guys have. That is something that has crossed my mind before. I do however write fan fiction that I've posted on the fan fiction website. I've written some in the past few years for Young and the Restless and Days. And I really need to update some of them lol. I haven't really updated some of them in like a year. Maybe I will update them in the next couple of weeks when I finally get some time off.

But I've written fan fiction about the younger set that was on Y&R a few years ago especially about Ana, Fen and also, Summer, Kyle, etc... I'm writing one about the Winters families that is a sequel to one that I wrote about the younger set and is almost two years in the future from the last one. I also created a new black family in that fan fiction. There is an adopted white sibling in the family that marries Summer and his black family members come to town and mix it up with the Winters/other people.

And I have another one about characters in Genoa City in general, ( and that also focuses a lot on younger characters) that I need to update.

I love the creativity in this thread. A lot of us probably could do just as good or even better than some of the current writers.

I'm glad that I made this thread

Years ago, I had written a web soap called Another Place and Time about 3 families interconnected in the Chicago suburbs.  We had a high class family, a middle class family, and a working class family (3 siblings abandoned by their dad after their mom had passed).

I kicked it off with the arrival of a character looking to start over in a new town after tragic events.  Eventually I had his past come to town in the form of a vengeful sister of his late lover.  His late lover had killed himself, and the sister blamed the lead and started planning her revenge.

When looking back, the vengeful sister became the main character...and I realized Kristen Dimera was my inspiration for her.

I do! Yes!

I began in 2009, following the finale of Guiding Light and the cancellation of As the World Turns, and felt inspired by those two soaps, which hold my earliest memories of watching daytime soap operas. I found a now-defunct text-based soap opera and fell intrigued by it. Afterwards, I discovered a community of writers (now defunct as well), and immediately began planning my own soap, entitled Liberty City. Taking inspiration of the two former soaps, I began to create and become inspired by how creatively freeing the process actually became fo me. Liberty City premiered in February 2010, with the tag line of "where drama meets love." Admittedly, while the concepts were solid, the execution of the first season was quite sh*t, but, I give myself a break as I was writing for the first-time ever, so green is came across.

The series centered around two main families: the Johnsons and the Smithsons, as well as the families that connected to them, as well as other b-set families. Choosing some of my favourite daytime alumni to represent the roles I had written, I featured female and male characters, spanning all different ethnicities and backgrounds. In 2013, I stopped producing the series following the loss of my site host, and continued attempts were made to relaunch the serial. I released the fifth season premiere in 2019 and the following year, published a writer's cut of the episode. This year, I continued the fifth season and am continuing to produce episodes.

Not writing my own soap, but I have written my own treatment for AW and currently Y&R.

For AW I picked up the story in 1986 when Margaret De Priest took over and gave myself the challenge of developing stories from that point on.

I used some of her ideas but as time went on I veered off on my own path , bringing on Rachel's sister Pam, Ben McKinnon, Mike Randolph, marrying Vince and Maisie and a lot more!

The same with Y&R.

I began my plotting at the time Sally Sussman took over.

Rather than just writing a story narrative, I actually write daily outlines specifying characters and sets to approximate the challenges real life writers face.

I wrote 4 years of daily outlines for AW before I gave up so 86-90.

With Y&R I began with Dec 16 and are now up till April 17.

I just write when the mood takes me.

It's quite challenging at times but enjoyable.

Currently Ashley has hooked up with Cole Howard again, Chance is interested in Mariah, Billy is juggling Phyllis and Victoria without either of them knowing and Chelsea is making claims on Johnny.

Thank you! I've enjoyed doing it over the years and have loved getting production back up, and really find my writing has improved so much.

Well. from 4 years of stories, some things that come to mind.Would love to know what you think!

Rachel became aware someone was buying up her artwork and discovered it was her father Gerald who was dying and wanted to re-unite.

He came to Bay City with a handsome young assistant Ryan that he treated like a son. Rachel had to decide whether to trust her father again and sought advice from Mac and Ada. Father and daughter drew closer. Ironically Gerald was also estranged from Pam and Rachel encouraged her father to reach out to her, which he did.

Rachel had to form a relationship with Pam, which proved difficult as Pam was jealous of Rachel's successes.

It turned out that Ryan and Pam were lovers and had plotted for Ryan to get close to Gerald to inherit his money (he had become a successful hotelier since his release from jail)

Once accepted by the Corys, Pam began to mellow and no longer had the same motives. She fell in love with Mitch Blake. when she confesses to Ryan she slept with Mitch he nobly forgives her.

Ryan, knowing Pam was moving away from him doubled down and got her to marry him, leaving Mitch in the lurch. When Gerald collapses, Ryan doesn't intervene but Gerald survives and Ryan worries Gerald will reveal that Ryan left him to die. However, Gerald dies without the truth coming out.

Pam suspects Ryan of killing her dad, bit is trapped by her past. She falls pregnant but loses the baby,

Ben returns to Bay City and wants to be with Marley. Marley is shaken by Ben's return and wavers b/w Marley and Jake but eventually chooses Jake. Ben and Vicky hook up for a time. When a baby boy is left at the McKinnons , Ben knows it is his from a relationship when he was out of town. Ben and Vicky grow apart as she isn't interested in being a surrogate mother to an infant.

Jamie returns and dates both his former girlfriends,MJ and Nicole, two very different women. He does sleep with Nicole, which MJ can't handle so Jamie and Nicole become a couple. However, that relationship is threatened when a Chad, a man from her druggie past arrives with lots of secrets (call girl/porn tape etc) to blackmail her with.

Chad gets involved with Vicky after she drops Ben and Nicole is upset but powerless to intervene as Chad threatens to reveal her misdeeds. Chad 's past catches up with him as he tries to clean up his act but can't.

Although in a sexual relationship with Vicky he forces himself on her and she realizes she's been raped.

She presses charges and Chad's past is revealed. Jamie splits with Nicole over her lies.

MJ has a new police partner Matt who is quite hostile to her but they grow close when he is falsely accused during an investigation, Matt reveals he's married with a young son but estranged. MJ has to deal with that but when Joanne, Matt;s wife pleads with her to step aside she does and returns to Jamie, after breaks with Nicole.

Jamie and MJ agree to marry but on the wedding day Matt arrives and tells MJ he can't forget her. He tried to make things work with Joanne but he 's going too divorce. MJ tells Jamie she can't go through with the wedding.

Hurt and distressed, Jamie leaves town.

Quinn becomes involved with Reece, Michael's business partner. However, Reece is a bit of a  playboy and cheats on Quinn, he decides she can't deal with this and they split. Dennis returns and get's involved with Quinn, but Quinn realizes she really loves Reece and they marry, leaving Dennis to hook up with Vicky, now over her ordeal with Chad.

Felicia and Zane are happily married but that causes her creative juices to dry up and she;s unable to write.

Jonathan, a new publicist at Cory turns out to be obsessed and ends up kidnapping her and Felicia has to fight to survive. Eventually she escapes and she and Zane re-unite, omly for Zane to be diagnosed with prostate cancer. Felicia stand by her man as they battle the disease.

If you're interested I'll post more about Michael and Donna, and others.

Also Y and R.
