It's really interesting to see that, after years of animosity between aspects of Hollywood and the streaming companies, many production companies and studios are opting to release some of their movies on those same streaming platforms, particularly rom-coms, which probably can likely make an easier transition to home viewing than a big budget spectacle.

Does this pandemic have the potential to change the balance of power between the movie industry and streaming platforms? Or will there be a return to 'business as usual' once the pandemic ends (although Dr. Fauci has intimated that coronavirus could become a season thing, which sounds horrifying on its face).  Movie theaters were already losing business (which many blame streaming platforms for) for non-comic book blockbuster movies.  Also, according to this article, there will likely be permanent damage to the industry.

Well, COVID-19 isn't so much afraid of Keith as it is amazed by him.  ;)

I agree with @DramatistDreamer and others: this pandemic stands to change the film industry as we know it...for better AND for worse.

I hate to sound so negative; however, as well-intentioned as those new production guidelines sound, in the end, I don't believe they will prove conducive for good storytelling or good acting.

Sigh.

I hope we find a way to combat COVID-19 once and for all.  I really do.  Otherwise, scripted entertainment as we know it to be is gonna suck.

This may be a blessing in disguise. If all the crappy new shows can't get produced, we'll just see reruns of old shows that are wonderful.

I mentioned this in the COVID-19 thread but the drive-in movie is getting something of a revival in certain parts.

L.A.’s Finest, with Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba, had been shopped around, passed on, and landed as an original for Spectrum on-demand subscribers. With the production pipeline shut down indefinitely due to COVID, Fox has picked it up for fall premiere, re-airing it from the beginning. Funny how things change.

I have gotten such bad vibes from Ellen over the last 5-10 years, I can't even pretend to be surprised at the tsunami of negative stories surrounding her.

I've heard she's mean
