If they replace Frank would you want to promote

Mary Kelly Weir   https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1222066/

Mercer Barrows  https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0057896/

Michelle Henry https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1928189/?ref_=nv_sr_1?ref_=nv_sr_1

Or try to get Wendy Riche back

Or someone new to GH like

Ed Scott, Gary Tomlin, Ginger Smith or Jennifer Pepperman

Thoughts? Ideas???

What exactly would be the reason to promote any of the GH names you mention up front to EP? What do any of us know they have done that would suggest they should be the new EP? What is the difference between Barrows or Weir, or Henry and Barrows?

"They're already on staff and their names were in the credits" is not a credible answer unless this is a very binary challenge that is simply 'promote anyone from within, just because I can read IMDB.'

Of the three i mentioned for promotion Id pick Barrows just based on GH history. He began there in 1981 as art director then joined Port Charles as Producer for its  entire run then back to GH as producer ever since. So Barrows should know history the best

Regardless of what we feel about FV, JFP would be worse. She would cut everyone and it would be The Sonny-Jason-Carly hour. No Thanks. Hopefully ABC wouldnt try or hopefully JFP is done with daytime in her own right

No one fired Genie (in 2002), she walked on her own accord when ABC wouldn’t give her the same vacation time as Tony Geary. She felt she and him were equals and deserved the same deal.

Also, the producer that badgered Genie about her weight was the late Carol Scott, not JFP.

The only soap JFP explicitly fired Genie from was Y&R and DESERVEDLY so.

Based on what though? No one forced Genie to walk and unfortunately for her, ABC never showed her the the same respect as Geary (predating JFP at GH).

I can’t speak to what was orchestrated as none of us were there and Genie has had only complementary things to say about JFP in the press.

    • If NBC could have for seen the ratings of Lovers & Friends (the replacement for Somerset).. they would have for sure kept Somerset on the air longer. https://jason47.com/days/ratings1976.html  (ratings for Somerset in the final year) https://jason47.com/days/ratings1977.html (ratings for Lovers & Friends short run...getting as low as a 2 rating).

    • I liked them, too, and was really disappointed it never went anywhere. The whole art theft story was ridiculous, but they had a nice chemistry. Certainly nicer than Alan with Christine. With her, he looked like the funny uncle. The worst thing they did to Bolger, IMO, was having Phillip write that DREADFUL novel and dramatizing it while he wrote it. GAG, that has to be in the running for one of their worst storylines that didn't involve wacky things like clones or time travel. Soaps rarely do school storylines, or don't do them for very long. Not the case so much in the early days of soaps, but after GH took off in the late 70s other soaps took their lead and would catapult teens/young adults into adult stories right away. That's one reason Phillip and Mindy ended up with so many ex-spouses--they started getting married really young. They shipped Dina and Cameron off really fast after high school and stuck Alan Michael in a marriage storyline with Harley. Did he EVER go to college? I don't think so. It may also partly explain why Quint and Annabelle had to go, beyond TPTB wanting to do a cast sweep. Teaching is not a profession that plays well on a soap. Quint definitely had to quit being Indiana Jones, because that wore thin really fast, but they didn't do him favors by making him a professor. If they wanted to keep him, they should have done what they did with Amanda (who was in another dead-end soap job, concert pianist)--have him work at Spaulding as one of the major stockholders.
    • Judith McConnell (Augusta) and Denise Alexander (Lesley) were great screen partners on GH.  They got into some stellar arguments in character in the medicine room.
    • He also commented that Brad knows that fans are sick of the constant fake deaths on this show: Finn, Sheila, etc and that it's hard to take this seriously if it's another fake death

    • I just don't think Brad Bell has it in him to actually kill off Liam. He should have killed off Eric when he had the chance. I know John McCook is an original cast member, but Eric is even more useless than Liam. Eric should have died and then it would be revealed that he died without a valid will, so Donna, as his wife, inherits everything, including his shares in Forrester Creations.
    • I think we all will, isn't that how soaps work? lol
    • ^^ I'll believe it when it actually happens.
