It's sad how the industry and our youth-obssessed culture refuse to allow women to age gracefully.  Age and maturity should be celebrated, not feared or pitied.

The old Surgery of the Soap Stars thread is so old - but so fun!

 

All the usual suspects get accounted for (see above) and it’s all harsh work or treatments not done in harmony with each other or appropriate for the structure of that person’s face. I know I once said the problem is when people try to look young, rather than look good, and I stand by that today. 

 

Bad surgery or injections is one thing, but it’s also interesting to see actors like Michael Nader who let themselves go or abuse their looks through addiction. 

 

Susan Flannery is one who really did let herself go. I can understand ditching the wig, but her last years on B&B she destroyed the look of Stephanie by wearing the same pantsuit in every colour under the sun with Crocs. I understand wanting comfort - but she really didn’t give a flying damn those last years. 

 

Most performers who let themselves go never see work again. It’s just a brutal industry that way. At the same time, viewers watch for fantasy, so why not present the best of yourself? 

She also put on a lot of weight.

I'm pretty sure that's just how she looks! I've always seen her with that kinda stiff way of talking. Either way she doesn't look bad.
