Cagney & Lacey reboot

Is this really a reboot, though?  It seems to me like it's a brand-new concept and they just attached the names "Christine Cagney" and "Mary Beth Lacey" to it.  Sort of like the planned "Murder, She Wrote" "reboot" that would have had Jessica Fletcher a hospital administrator who also happened to be a self-published author.

Still don't quite get some of these reboots.

Take a show many young viewers have never heard of, or have no interest in,then revamp it so older viewers who remember it fondly are presented with a completely different show.

If Tyne Daly doesn't play their boss, I'm not interested!

I'm not interested either way.  I just don't feel like this is a proper reboot.

Agreed. The only Cagney and Lacey are Daly/Gless. Period!

It's not even that, really.  I'm fine with the idea of new actors playing Christine and Mary Beth.  But the premise of the original series was about two female cops who, through sheer determination and grit, had made detectives, but who were still fighting to be taken seriously in a profession dominated by men.  From what I'm reading, the premise of this reboot doesn't seem to be employing those themes at all.
