Undoing the deaths isn't the problem. It's the follow through that makes or breaks the story.

Soap operas divorced themselves from overt realism decades ago (it weird to see cries for realism when this show was filled with people building nazi reliquaries from scratch and talking chipmunk heads only a few years ago) so it's not a huge deal to take some liberties with some pre existing stories especially if they fix previous regimes horrible choices in the process.

Just because previous regimes went in the wrong directions eg nazi chipmunks, shouldn't give SSM carte blanche to continue in that vein. They would have to go to a lot of trouble just to bring John back and then what? He would sit around chiding Jack and tut tutting over Ashley's love life (or lack thereof)

There are so many more pressing issues the show needs to deal with.

If Sally's tenure as HW is only going to be her "fixing" things wrong with the show then she needs to start with the most egregious.

Undoing Phillip's death is the worst - how could MAB undo the bedside death scene where Jill, in gold lame, looks up at Kay, with disbelief at all the horror etched in her face, and groans "This is your fault. It's always been your  fault. First the father and now the son" as she weeps over his lifeless body. How could MAB do that? Just awful.

Do you know if this scene is online somewhere?

Also I think John should stay dead, I never liked him and the aftermath of his death was pretty great.

I hate all of these hacks and their resurrections!  Poignant scenes erased to do lack of talent/imagination.  John should stay dead as well.

I hope this Sally return is not just boring nostaglia. she needs to look to smarttv and she the brilliance of modern.storytelling. modern storytelling is where it is at.

There isn't a single bit of "modern story" on any daytime drama IMHO. It's all the same cliche ridden plot driven crap, just some of it's less shitty than the rest. The soaps are running on massive fumes.
