January 30, 20179 yr Member With the PGA this Saturday, La La Land has basically solidified its lead. Since it is not nominated for Ensemble at SAG, I'm going with Fences for the win. I like La La Land, just wasn't thrilled with it.
February 25, 20179 yr Author Administrator With its DGA and PGA wins, La La Land is definitely in the lead and the favourite to win. It would've been a guarantee win if it won the SAG, but it wasn't nominated (I guess for not having a large enough ensemble?). So that still gives a chance for SAG winner Hidden Figures or Moonlight or Manchester By The Sea, but those are long shots. Upsets do happen though. Predictions: Best Picture: La La Land Best Actor: Denzel Washington Best Actress: Emma Stone Best Supporting Actor: Mahershala Ali Best Supporting Actress: Viola Davis Best Director: Damien Chazelle (La La Land)
February 25, 20179 yr Member Toups, I believe your predictions are right on the money. The campaign against Casey Affleck's personal behavior seems to be succeeding, so I think it is neck and neck. The only upset I can see from what you list might be Dev Patel for Best Supporting Actress. His heyday has long past, but I still do not underestimate Harvey Weinstein's ability to campaign for Oscar.

Even though I'm sure winning an Oscar is something he would treasure, I think Dev Patel might be a little surprised if he won in that category.....
February 27, 20179 yr Member Emma Stone said she had the card with her winning name on it. The one that Warren supposedly read...LMAO
February 27, 20179 yr Member I guess there was some mix up at the end of the Oscars that I didn't see. Aren't these things rehearsed...lol
February 27, 20179 yr Member but why isn't Faye Dunaway taking some serious heat for this? she read La-La Land and then it seemed Warren is getting all the blame because someone handed him the wrong envelope.

Faye should take some blame as well as Beatty! Mistakes happen but those two could have prevented the disaster and utter humiliation that took place on that stage. WB clearly knew it was wrong and allowed people to accept and celebrate an award that didn't belong to them. Faye just didn't give a [!@#$%^&*]. Thankful for for the gracious La La Land producer who made sure Moonlight was given its/their moment. He was the only one who did the right thing!

CH, thank you. that's my point...why did she announce LaLaLand after she read it knowing the actress' name was on the card?

February 27, 20179 yr Member Whoopi was saying that there is only one card unless by mistake the lead actress was duplicated and put into an envelope twice.
