Members Paul Raven
Now that this show has it's own thread I'll transfer some posts from the primetime soaps thread Ouch! TV Guide June 26th 1965 Cleveland Amory’s review of Our Private World is not kind. He notes that the twice-weekly prime time CBS serial has even less depth than As the World Turns, the daytime serial it was spun-off from. “In fact, if it weren’t for repeating everything twice, we don’t think they’d be on twice a week.” He explains the basic plot of the series and its main characters before ending with the following: Altogether it is the first show we’ve seen in a long time where literally nothingis good–the idea, the producing, the writing or the directing. As for the acting, it has to be seen to be believed–and, believe us, it shouldn’t be. The girls are bad and the boys are worse. One thing this show dose, though. It makes Peyton Place look great. In fact, the only thing we cannot fault is the title, Our Private World. The mistake was in making it public.
Members jam6242
danfling, I haven't found any information regarding Dorothy Peterson's role. This is a summary of the very brief synopses I found on newspapers.com. The story of Lisa Hughes' (Eileen Fulton) new search for life. Having left her home town, Oakdale, Lisa tries to forget the problems of the past, as she begins to work in the admitting room of Chicago's University Hospital. Lisa finds that she has quite a few things in common with Eve Eldredge (Julienne Marie). The Eldredge and Robinson households are thrown into turmoil when Eve and Brad Robinson (Robert Drivas) announce their plans to marry. Eve and Lisa have a long talk about Eve's upcoming marriage to Brad. Lisa receives a shocking visit from Eve, who pleads for aid and advice. Dr. Tony Larson (David O'Brien) seeks the reason for Eve's incredible action (crack-up) at Lisa's apartment. Helen Eldredge (Geraldine Fitzgerald) has a serious talk with her daughter, Eve. Sandy Larson (Sandra Smith) questions the decision of her husband Tony in turning down a medical position at another hospital. Helen probes the source of the gulf between her and Eve. Helen confronts Eve about a mutual dilemma. Eve and Franny Martin (Pamela Murphy) have a long talk about Brad. Brad is the subject of a heated conversation between Eve and Franny. Sandy questions Tony's decision to stay in Chicago. Some unexpected bad news interrupts the planning for Brad and Eve's wedding. Controversy still lingers over the impending marriage of Eve and Brad. Eve and Brad face fears on their wedding day. Brad and Eve are married at the Eldredge home. Eve and Brad's wedding night is spoiled by an unwelcome visitor (fear). John Eldredge (Nicholas Coster) finds himself attracted to Lisa---the woman his younger brother, Tom (Sam Groom), wants to marry. John begins to have doubts about Lisa's past. Eve and Brad have troubles. Tony confronts Lisa with an astonishing knowledge of her past --- a past she has tried hard to forget. John has Lisa's past investigated. Lisa plans a trip to Oakdale, and her beau Tom wants to know the reason for her sudden journey back home. Lisa's ex-brother-in-law, Don Hughes (Peter Brandon) brings ominous news when he pays her a surprise visit. Lisa tries to settle on a course of action after a surprise visit from her former brother-in-law. Nurse Sylvia Hill (Millette Alexander) travels to Chicago to visit her old friend, Sandy Larson, and reveals some interesting details about Lisa Hughes' past. Sandy wants to find out why her husband is seeing Eve Robinson so often. The first person she questions is Lisa. Sandy demands to know what Lisa knows about Sandy's husband, Tony. Sandy demands to know why Lisa is seeing Tony so often. Lisa tells John about her past life, a story she had hoped would never have to be told to anybody. Lisa continues to confess her dark past to keep Tom from wooing her. Lisa tells Tom why she can never marry him. Eve refuses to accept a generous gift from Brad's parents. Eve is concerned about the future of her marriage. Eve pleads with her husband to agree to an annulment of their marriage because she can never love him, because she loves Tony. Brad faces a difficult decision following Eve's request for an annulment. Brad tries to save his marriage. John starts cursing the day he decided to dig up Lisa's past. Two unexpected visitors make a mysterious visit to Tony's office. After a freak accident, Tony is rushed to the hospital, where he hovers between life and death. Tony's injury is investigated, and the police determine that his injuries were not caused by an accident. Police arrest Brad after evidence shows he might have some connection with the assault on Tony. Brad tells John he has an alibi for his whereabouts at the time of the attack on Tony, but refuses to reveal it to the police. Tony is rushed into surgery. Brad is arrested and booked for the almost fatal beating of Tony, while Sandy sweats out the life-or-death operation. Questioned by police, Sandy denies that her husband ever asked for a divorce. She also learns from doctors that Tony's chances for survival are slim. Tony fights for his life while an unexpected turn of events leads police to reconsider the assault charges against Brad. Tony may not recover. Dr. Taylor's unexpected diagnosis causes Sandy to look at her husband's death in a different light. At the same time, the police release Brad. Lisa reveals Sandy's secret to John. Sgt. Clark tracks a new suspect in Tony's murder. When Lisa spills the beans to police about Sandy's husband, they go after her secret admirer (John). Sandy Larson is booked for the murder of her husband. John and Lisa plan their future. Sandy prepares to stand trial for murder. Sgt. Clark questions Lisa about her neighbor, and a confession to the attack of Tony Larson is taken at police headquarters.
Members danfling
I would love to know who played Dr. Taylor and Sgt. Clark. The show's associate producer, Chandler Warren, was also a writer for Texas. (I wonder if the character of Chandler Garrison on Love Is a Many Splendored Thing was named for him?)

Members Paul Raven
A Chicago Tribune article from April 65 mentions Kevin McCarthy in the cast. I wonder if he pulled out or it was just a mistake?
Members slick jones
Dorothy Peterson would have been almost 70 at the time OPW was on the air...I wonder if that would make her Mary Shaw, Lisa's landlord.
Members jam6242
"Pat's" full name was "Patricia Andrews". Kathy Dunn was also Julie Olson #2 on Days of Our Lives for a few months in 1967. Members EricMontreal22
I'm impressed that she seems to remember so many story details off the cuff from 30 or so years before this interview was done--full character names, etc. Seriously, so many soap actors can't do that (and I don't blame them).
