I'm going to do this by soap and on the basis of great, not just good.

AMC- Josh Duhamel, Olivia Birkelund

AW- Alicia Coppola

ATWT- Eric Sheffer Stevens, Maura West, Jen Landon

B&B- Jennifer Finnigan

DAYS- Casey Moss

OLTL- Susan Haskell

Y&R- Ashley Bashioum, David Tom

There's been some good acting finds in the 2000s and yes even in the 2010s but they are few and far between. Justin Hartley is probably the first that comes to my mind(he was good even on Passions!), but I would also add Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, Linsey Godfrey, and Mishael Morgan to that list.

I can't make a definite list, but I also think of Passions actors too....Lindsay Hartley and Liza Huber both stand out...

Even in the short-term, I think of someone like Jeffrey Carlson, whom I'm sure many would say chewed up all of the scenery during his time on AMC, but I thought he was fantastic and played that role for all it was worth.

No one could say "I HAVE A PENIS!" without coming across as hammy.  So I don't blame Carlson.

I think the last time I sat up and took notice (so to speak) of an actor's performance was ESS's on ATWT.  Dr. Reid Oliver was arguably WT's last interesting character -- but I think that had to do more with ESS than with the writers responsible for creating him.  Plus, he seemed to re-ignite Van Hansis as an actor, and in my book, that's the soap equivalent of Annie Sullivan teaching Helen Keller how to say 'water' in sign language.

The AMC guy who went on to star in CREED seems like a really good actor.    He seems likable, looks great, and seems pretty talented.   If he is not the latest and maybe best actor discovery the soaps have found in the last 10 or 15 years, then I don't know who is.

If we mean currently on soaps, then the guy from TPIR who went on to star on AMC 2.0 as Pete Cortlandt and then Days as the crazy boyfriend I think has a lot of potential.   He sold the prince charming perfect character on AMC, and his crazy psycho turn on Days was just as good.

You mean Michael B. Jordan and Robert Scott Wilson?

That kid that played young Luke on GH for the anniversary show.  In a better era on all the soaps, TPTB would have signed that guy up and created a role for him.  The actress playing his sister was pretty great too.  Both way better than the young leads the show is using currently.
