Which soap actor that made it big surprised you?

Michael B Jordan

Ditto…never found his acting good at all. Then I see he has made it big….boggles my mind…LOL

Another one for me would be Jason Biggs. I thought his acting was atrocious as Petey on ATWT.

Eva Longoria - for the most part I thought she was dull when I saw her on Y&R, and frankly, I still did when I suffered through Desperate Housewives.

What primetime success has Ali had other than Biggest Loser (which has nothing to do with her acting ability)? I mean I won't deny she's a household name, but is she a household name as an actress?

She has her own movie series on Hallmark.

Yes, and kudos to her! I guess when I thought of this thread, I was thinking people more along the line of Michael B. Jordan and people who got really, really famous. No shade to Hallmark, but shade to Hallmark.

Jordana Brewster - pretty (before she destroyed her face), but nothing else going on

I thought she would make it big back in her ATWT days. I thought she was one of the best newer actors ATWT had in the day.

Ali parlayed her name from DOOL into hosting a major reality show and then parlayed that into numerous endorsements, Hallmark [!@#$%^&*], etc. I think she more than qualifies. She may not be a movie star but she has made a brand. She no longer needs soaps.

Jason Biggs - I liked him on ATWT but I just thought he'd vanish the way most kid actors do

I just saw this after I posted mine….never cared for his acting one bit….would have recast him if I was in charge …LOL

Honestly I don't think he's really, really famous either, although he's deservedly had some film success the past few years.

STOP! You don't love Michael?

No I dont, but thats not the point of this thread. Back in 2003 when he was on AMC, I never found anything impressive about him and didnt think he would go on to be some huge star by 2015

Kerr Smith moving up and beyond his role as Ryder Hughes on ATWT was a big surprise for me. Same with Rosalyn Sanchez as the first Pilar. Add Spencer Grammer to that list too, she was AWFUL on ATWT.

I didn't think Tammin Sursok had an American career after her stint at Y&R but then she rocked the boat over at Pretty Little Liars.

I thought he was ok on ATWT but the role did not fit him. Ryder was suppose to be the bike rider guy and Kerr was none of that…LOL. I preferred him much better on Dawson's Creek. I wonder if it is true that he hated his role on DC.

I wasn't too surprised by Smith, because he was handsome (although he was dull - which he remained post-ATWT...), but Sanchez, yes.

I was also surprised creepy-looking Shawn Christian got primetime work for a while.

Smith was/is adorable. Sanchez couldn't even speak her lines correctly on ATWT…LOL..yet she got primetime work on CBS and still was awful. I guess having a famous father helped Spencer because she was bad.

I liked Greek but Spencer's character could be so annoying sometimes

SC had a pretty steady primetime career prior to DAYS. Lots of recurring work. I mostly remember him from Summerland and Las Vegas. He fit into Summerland better but I didn't give a damn about the adults on that show.
