Well, the wording may be poor, but he is on the right track.   Maybe he wanted to say most famous, or best remembered, or something as he fished around for a meaningless description, but TG did manage to make Luke quite famous being the face of GH.   He somehow got Time Magazine to name GH as one of the top shows of all time.  No other soap attained any kind of pop culture significance to make the list.   Everyone got fed up with Tony Geary and Luke, but when it comes to soaps making an impact with the public there is Luke and Laura, and then there is everyone else.

 

Anyway a poor list.  I don't even remember Franco and Kiki's farewell.   I probably FFed.

The only way I could accept that declaration is if he meant of the shows that are left. Luke and Laura are clearly daytime's most iconic couple of all time, but as far as individual characters go? It's all Erica, all day.

Says all of the people who are fans of soaps after Guiding Light and As The World Turns.  First Bitch of Daytime - Lisa.  The rest can have a seat.  Erica can have a seat.  Luke can have a seat.  Back when there were 20 soaps on the air - World Turns was number 1 for over 20 years.  Fact.  It's not like Y&R claiming their 27 years of number one status -which good for you - great.  But most of your tenure has been with 8 shows or less on the air.  Fact.

There is no other character in daytime more famous, for such an extended period of time, with such relevancy in pop culture, than Erica Kane.
