April 28, 201510 yr Member As someone who's been clashing with my own mother over my political activism for most of my adult life, I feel for the kid.
April 28, 201510 yr Member I havent been watch the news AT ALL. What is the rioting about?? For real? Have you checked online?
April 28, 201510 yr Member This is my state--I am about an hour and a half, two hours south from both Baltimore and DC. I have friends who live in and around the city--one of my friends from college has lived in the city her whole life; stores on her street have been destroyed, and talked last night about smelling smoke from her living room from outside. I feel for everyone on either side--those who want justice for Freddie Gray (which I include myself among--honestly I think most people mourn him and feel that what happened to him was wrong), and those who were caught up in the riots from yesterday. It is one thing to protest, it is another to start looting and burn down buildings and risk other innocent lives that may be lost. All I know is this: There are people coming together today; restaurants are giving free food to the first responders who are out trying to assist in the clean up today: http://washington.cbslocal.com/2015/04/28/baltimore-restaurants-offering-free-food-to-first-responders/ Peace seems to finally be coming to Charm City. I am curious as to how the city-wide curfew will go--and what will happen once it's lifted--but right now, it should be noted that there ARE good people out there trying to make things better. And yes, I agree, I am so happy that woman stepped up to, quite literally, slap some sense into her son. This state, this city, we will get through this. I love them both. #OneMaryland #PrayForBaltimore I havent been watch the news AT ALL. What is the rioting about?? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Freddie_Gray
April 28, 201510 yr Member I spent a lot of time in Baltimore growing up and then in college. It's a real mess out there right now.

April 29, 201510 yr Member The woman in question was interviewed earlier today: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/baltimore-mother-toya-graham-on-why-she-smacked-son-i-dont-want-him-to-be-a-freddie-gray/ ETA: She'll be interviewed on CBS This Morning tomorrow morning, too.
