Don't forget the Saga of Jackie's Crazed Harem. PB has been leading the counts since Jean and Shelly took over.

Remember last year this time he had 4 love interests:

1. Chelsea, who was kissing his cheek and telling him how amazing he was as he escorted her on Valentines day to Delia fundraiser. He was also her child's guardian. Had people wondering if tptb would go there.

2. Hilary who was crushing on him and choosing her unrequited love for him over a date with Devon.

3. Kelly

4. Phyllis who was comatose but they still played his devotion and he even gave her a grande toast replete with tears and pining.

Oh yeah, Jean and Shelly have been great for PBs Jack. He is every woman's dream.

What did you expect? We need to get back to the boring "adventures" of Dylan, Avery, Stitch and Victoria. Their airtime must be suffering because Jess Walton got some of it.

What did I expect? I'll tell you exactly:

we'll probably see this story every two weeks for a total of eight episodes, after which Victor will win

I just counted. You want to know how many times this story has appeared, counting today's episode, before it is resolved? Come on. Take a guess: EIGHT episodes!

It's scary how spot on this was! Me and Chit are on a roll today. The only thing left to see is where this leaves Victor (as if there's any question).

BUT... I was hoping for more. Much much more. Colin's involvement annoyed me initially but it had promise until he started running around town with a briefcase full of cash. Meanwhile, Devon insists that his money is tied up but no one puts two and two together! And, of course, Jill couldn't get anything done by herself.

We need to get back to the boring "adventures" of Dylan, Avery, Stitch and Victoria. Their airtime must be suffering because Jess Walton got some of it.

LMAO! They'll never get that time back!!!

The constant "dream" "character's thoughts" sequences are getting old already.

Phyllis was about the only part of today I liked. Her and the few scenes that Jill was on.

Crazy how fast I'm completely over this show. Only story I'm even halfway still interested in is Phyllis vs Kelly & now the Bug. GT rocked it today like she always does.

I wish instead of getting these fantasy scenes that Neil had actually found out about the affair, this mess is played out and the fall out needs to start already.

Yes, that (very beautifully written) scene between Kim and Seth is from the August 2, 1988 episode. Other than a "Story by Douglas Marland" in the end credits, there is no writing team listed (for obvious reasons -- no one wants to be known as a scab writer.) I once had a conversation with the writer BK Perlman who wrote for "Ryan's Hope" in the mid-80s. Prior to being hired as an RH writer in 1983 she had actually been a scab writer for RH during the 1981 writer's strike. (She, of course, used a different pseudonym during that time.) Later, when producers were looking to fill their writing staff in 1983, they remembered her and her work and officially hired her. I'm not certain if others in the writer's room were aware of her past?

Raines definitely did not have onscreen chemistry with his romantic partners. He could have had that on stage, but that doesn't always translate to a different medium. Watching him have love scenes with Tangie and Claire...just, no.
It's not that every pairing for Alan worked with Bernau (the one that gave me major icks was Christine Valere) but he could be flirty and funny and sexy. I loved watching him and India skirt around the possibility of a romantic connection, or when Alan and Rita had their, "I would love to tear your clothes off right now but our spouses are in the other room, let's talk about tennis instead" encounters.
I probably would have enjoyed him and Kim more if Alan wasn't (at least at first) using the fact that she worked for him to try to get her into bed.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread

I struggled with getting through the show in Clenshaw's last few years (I had a particular disdain for all the forced camp, what they did with Sonia, what they did with Linda, anything Panesar-related, and the whole Cindy and Knight setup), so I'm not in the same boat as many are in feeling a big decline in quality, but that doesn't mean the show's complete lack of momentum or direction is any less confounding. Clenshaw was better at making the show seem competent whereas Wadey just seems to have no real ability at present to put together episodes. The pacing is along the lines of radio soaps from the '30s or '40s.
I am not even sure what the changes would be if they did panic - my guess is something like Ben returning to reunite with Callum (which is likely happening anyway), Kat sleeping around, and Phil returning to being a cardboard gangster - but I do hope they find some ability to steer the show again. If Wadey can't, and the incompetent people above him like Kate Oates can't, then the BBC should make changes while they still can.
